I don't get the appeal of Dragonriding

No you don’t. You are just saying that to make yourselves feel better.

Also you are using words you don’t understand meaning of.

Dragonriding is good for what it is. The real issue is the people who seem to think options need to be removed and that there isnt room for both

Yeah, old flight is effectively a gnomish [Gameplay Nullification Device]. It renders terrain and everything on the ground entirely moot, especially with the speeds it’s capable of without requiring any actual interaction (which is something the devs have expressed regret for escalating as quickly as they did as far back as Cataclysm). It’s not hard to imagine why that poses a problem when the outdoor portion of the game is intended to be more than a tutorial level.

That said I can also see why it might be popular with e.g. the hardcore raidlogger crowd who tends to get miffed at having to do anything that’s not in a raid instance.

True. I’ve spent more time muting those threads than actually playing DF

Honestly, people getting their panties in a pinch over it makes me like those quests even more.

DR does this better than old flying, even with the interaction required.

I’ll have to actually read the quest text on my next toon to see what all the fuss was about lol

The interaction counts for a lot IMO. It helps return the game to something that’s actively played — as it used to be — rather than something you do along with 4 other things.

Me too and I have all the upgrades. I never can just fly without running out of vigor. Sure, it takes longer to deplete once you get everything for it but eventually it will run out and you’ll have to wait for it to regenerate.

It was a really cute questline, imho!

Point yourself in any direction and hit 2 3 times is barely interaction. I spend more time pressing buttons and actually looking at my surroundings on old flyers.

Tip: Skyward ascent while tilting up just a tad, once you elevate tilt slightly down so your vigor recharges. Once it recharges, skyward ascent again… etc etc. You can fly across a whole map and land with full vigor left.

You’re not wrong but the number of threads on the subject suggests that the “issue” is contentious and that level of interaction is too high for the tastes of some.

That is because you are not using the thrill of the sky buff right.

When your dragon gets highlighted you gain massive amount of vigor regen. So keep that buff on and you can stay in air forever.

Yeah true, but dont pretend DR doesnt do the same

I still think a lot of people that don’t like it feel that way because they are fighting against the mount rather than using it’s natural physics.

People enjoy what they are told to enjoy. This xpac has no xpac worthy features, there’s nothing to really celebrate here. But this is a world where weirdos can finally fit in somewhere, so they will defend it to the death, fueled by their cope machines, and dragonriding is next level innovation, ok?

The issue is the ratio of interaction to speed, not speed alone. With how old flight works it shouldn’t have ever gone past 280%, and probably not even 150%. It’s just too good.

you forgot to tell them that they arent moving fast enough if they aren’t glowing blue (signaling the vigor regen)

Yes that is something I learned people dont know somehow

That shouldn’t really be an issue as long as they are doing the buttons right… but I guess a reminder doesn’t hurt.
