I defeated the mage tower tonight. My thoughts

Yeah I didn’t even have food or drums for fury. Took me 7 tries and it was only my second time ever playing the spec. Fury feels massively undertuned in comparison to unholy.

I suppose. I never checked to see how much mastery my IQD gave me, but with UB + DT + IQD I know those adds melted just as fast as Reck + BS for my Fury Warr.

IQD’s problem is tracking what it’ll give you. If you heal with it, you’ll cry.

Power Crystal is more consistent DPS.

They should just require the legion artifact weapons. I imagine most have them in bank or could go get them from an npc.

If I could throw on some heirlooms and run it would be cool.

Shouldn’t mages be able to steamroll the mage tower by default?

I remember doing this as 213 UH DK or whatever the ilvl was during H Tomb, it was pretty rough. Without legendary weapon and effects it must be quite the struggle!

Aside from generally agreeing with you, I’m glad I fulfilled your desire to randomly argue with someone just to prove you’re some altruistic person.

Impossible and and improbable are two very different things. Neither 22s nor MT are impossible. Effort, self reflection and improvement are important, not elitest. Anyone has the capability to do so. Nothing in this game is impossible.

The point being, think before posting, could I have done something different, better? Will what I’m saying help someone or lead to a solution.

I have a weakaura that shows its possibilities. Only ever hit it if it will give you a stat. Only possible downside other than using it at the wrong time according to the WA is that it might give me haste over mastery, which is still pretty good.

Man I hope you do this quick, because we only have two weeks.

It is fun content and it is inclusive to all players. What the community wants, for the most part and again as was the case when it came out, is they want it to be easy and a walk in the park because they want the transmogs.

Again, more than half the playerbase wants things to be mega easy and handed to them, which is why it should not be.

Not to dismiss your accomplishments but, it doesn’t matter if you’re a CE raider, heroic, normal or LFR person. It’s a blast from the past which is what the Mage Tower was; a very difficult challenge.

Agreed, they need to give it time and many, many, many attempts to get it down and get into the rhythm.

Yes i do. Watch the resto shaman videos of the completions though. All of them have the same thing in common. The mage NEVER casts on the same target twice in a row. If he does, you lose. Period. That’s an uncontrollable, automatic fail condition that doesn’t exist for any of the other healer classes because the caster damage is significantly higher. Not to mention, the ptr videos and guides show needing to use windshear to interupt at two buff stacks. But, in the live version, a single cast at one stack is a one shot. This also does not exist with other healers. Hpal, for example, can allow the stacks to get up to 3 or 4 and it STILL doesn’t one shot your NPCs.

Luck is a factor in many things, real life and game related. Maybe they could just make it so it doesn’t auto kill the person if twice in a row but the literal only tuning that should happen to this thing, right now, is allowing the use of Legendaries to be active like it was back in Legion.

For the most part yeah it does. Again, luck is a factor in everything, anything.

I never said they were, I said your hand waving away of people’s justified complaints was.

Complaints without reasoning or explanation are not, of which many MT thread don’t have any in the initial post or majority following.

I guess just like Dark Souls is a fun game inclusive to all players.

You and I remember quite a different Mage Tower. Legion’s Mage Tower was not difficult for its entire lifetime.

No, it’s called poor game design.

Do we really an explanation to why the Bear druid challenge is overtuned without Convoke for the 404th time or do we get the gist of it by now ?

Dark Souls IS a fun game inclusive to all players. If you had a problem with it, go play hello kitty island adventures. Sorry, I’m not all for people having an easy time on every piece of content. It’s already dumb that they nerf every bit of it for the majority of players because the truth of the matter is the majority of players just can’t do content that well. They’re just bad.

No, people got better gear. This literally just came out and people want it nerfed because entitlement and their ability of sucking at this game. Not caring to offend people, but I won’t let people off for their laziness or bad skills.

No, it’s called lack of patience and willingness to keep trying and persist. If you haven’t put in 100+ attempts by this point, you haven’t tried. 20 or so attempts is kid’s play.

There are bears with it already, so it is not impossible.

I just don’t find those games fun. If the intent is making Mage Tower be Dark Souls, you’ll lose a lot of the WoW population.

Yes, which made it trivial. So for whom are you releasing this “blast from the past” ?

No, because unlike Legion, gear progression can’t fix it when everything goes down to ilvl 50.

You’re just trolling, Blizzard literally said some challenges are grossly overtuned.

“The top players did it, everyone can!” is a hell of a take.

actually, no, not ‘any one’ has the capability of playing on that level

some people are older and have slower reaction times

some people are younger and don’t have the rote memorization capability

some people have physical impairments that make it hard to see some things

Others have shakes or tremors when under stress or duress

If you need it to be easy, you should, again go play hello kitty island adventures because I get tired of people wanting content to be easier and easier.

It is a blast from the past, and it’s actually a blast from the past because of the challenging part of it.

Yes, which makes it more based on skill than it was before which makes it more fun.

No, they said they’ll take a look at it. They also said this because many players have little skill so it’s a way to please the masses of lazy people or not that good skilled players just wanting it to be easy and handed to them.

They weren’t top players who did it. A friend of mine did it and he’s a heroic raider, so if you think that’sa “the top players did it” kind of thing, you’re completely wrong. He just got used to the rhythm and then got it when he learned the strategy and got the rhythm down. Again, over 100 attempts on his behalf and he did not stop until he got it.

If you think this was supposed to be easy, you’re dead wrong. It’s a challenge and should be a challenge. If you want it to be easy, this was not content for you.

Ok, and the fact is it was meant to be a challenge, not easy. It was not meant for anything besides that, so it does not mean a nerf nor need a nerf. Just get better or don’t do it.

To be optimal, or just make you on par to the Mage Tower challenge:

You have to get old expansion gear, because gem slots and better stats scaling.
You have to get old expansion gems, for better stats scaling.
You have to get old expansion consumables, for better bonus, effects and scalling.

On average you will change 10 of your current shadowlands progression gear just to be “optimal” to the challenge. To make if “less painful”.

And if you played in MoP, and killed Flex/Norma/Heroic/Mythic 10/25 Garrosh, and got the heirloom weapons, you will have a advantage.

This iteration of the Mage tower is about progression, just backwards.

Any content that scale your power down isn’ t funny. We EARN that power, with long grinds, dozens of wipes on currento raid bosses, doing our best possible on M+.

I’m not saying Mage Tower is bad, I’m saying I want my character progress to COUNT, because I earned this power investing hours of my gameplay into Shadowlands. Don’t nerf the Tower, just make my time invested to power up my character WORTHY.

Stop you right there Mr. “I haven’t even done it”. I’m literally wearing the set, it’s in my avatar picture.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Clark got carried by double Crusader enchants. He’s not an example.
