Big fat RIP to folks like me who sells and scraps old expansion gear thinking they are irrelevant for current content.
Oh how wrong I was
I got it on my ele shaman and my frost mage last night without changing any gear besides my trinkets. I can definitely see the Twins being tough on a class that doesnât have passive slows though.
If you are doing it on a ele shaman make sure you use earth shield. On frost mage make sure you use the instant blizzard during frozen orb talent and also use the water elemental.
Overall on those 2 specs it definitely felt challenging and there was very little room for error. As long as you focus on the mechanics though and slowly chip down the bosses health its very doable. As far as I can tell there is no enrage so just take your time and donât panic.
So when we are getting those promised massive across the board nerfs to mage tower?
The thing with the hood is once the resemblance was brought up, you canât unsee it.
Itâs better they change it now than after someone finds a group of warlock in tier gear hiding in elwyn forest at night.
I donât think farming old gear is required, you may need to swap a trinket (tank trinkets like scale can be helpful) and buy drums, but typical consumables from SL worked for me.
The only piece of gear I had to buy was a blue pvp weapon for unending thirst rune enchant for P1, which was swapped in P2 back to razor ice weapon.
There are lots of guides out now, I think weâll see a lot more people clear by Saturday/Sunday.
I definitely think the HP on certain adds is scaled a bit too high; in my case razor ice and mirror images for xylem seem a bit hard to kill quickly enough.
I might try some more over the weekend.
TLDR: the challenges are do-able with SL gear, add HP tuning is probably the first thing thatâll be looked at.
Somebody phoned it in with the tuning. Did the Agatha on Fury. All it took was adding Crusader to both weapons and two shot it. Arms was way more difficult in comparison.
Been smashing my face on Blood DK with Kruul. Keep getting to p2, but with minimum 3 infernals and almost always a 4th. 4 infernals, 4 adds that chase you like sprinters while casting, laser beams, puddles, Kruul stacking debuff, Making sure Velen doesnât die and timing the orb for interrupts on the adds is too damn much. P1 has way too much health.
I completed all these challenges in Legion and remember the nerfs. This is Nighthold level of tuning. Iâm not going to neck beard farm tons of old content for specific gear just to finish this crap. Fix it. Make a template. I donât care how.
Iâve pushed into p2 without any consumes or cheese with 2 infernal. P1 is fine. P2 dps check is the problem. It seems literally impossible if you do it without any broken scaling. Kruul HP needs a nerf and thatâs it IMO.
The questions :
- Which ones ? WW, Fury, Ele/Enh obviously are. Xylem though ?
- By whom ? If it requires Top Glad, 2800 IO or HoF CE people, then has it missed the marked ?
This was content aimed at more casual players. Perhaps it misses the mark if it requires double digit attempts and reading guides and spending money on 10k potions.
Please, Iâm begging you people, keep Legion Timewalking up at least until 9.2⌠Donât force me to choose between the two games I love. (Also really silly to remove the only new content weâll have until possibly March after 2 weeksâŚ)
These are the only worthy points to put in all of the mage tower threads as MT failed miserably catering to such .
Iâm at the point where I can get Kruul down on most attempts to 15ish percent with good RNGâŚbut now Iâm seeing it bug on people that are dying and giving them the set? Come on BlizzâŚ
I used a total of 2 flasks, 5 veiled augment runes, 30+ food buffs, 3 drums, and 3 str potions. Thatâs maybe 3k gold. Maybe two daily callings worth of gold.
I didnât start using consumables outside of food until I was in P2 for xylem. Players shouldnât be throwing away pots/food buffs and other consumables until they have a decent strategy. I donât think thereâs anything wrong with taking 50-100 pulls to beat, I think I cleared it after 60 attempts.
I think weâre being quick to complain BUT, in regards to xylem I think the razor ice and mirror image adds needs to be tuned, nothing else about this seems too hard mechanically. I do struggle to see how Iâd be able to do this on my SV hunter with significantly less sustain/defensives though.
As for other bosses I cannot speak to yet, Iâm sure add health could use a tuning across the board, and sounds like there are bugs to be addressed. The community is being very quick to call foul though and seem to be parroting what every other MT thread has in general.
Well congrats on being a top tier player. You find it normal this content should be aimed only at you ?
Which is nice, if having a decent strategy can go beyond surviving the first comet storm without dying because Razor Ice doesnât break.
Sticky please.
I would hope soon since the timeframe on this isnât exactly long.
âI didnt try it with the specs that were obviously broken and needed adjusting. I did it on on one of the classes it was actually possible to do it on so that means its fine for everyone.â
Stop.
A) Iâm seeing more complaining that itâs impossible without people saying what talent combos/CDs/movement strategies theyâve tried before coming to a conclusion. Rather many are pulling the challenge 5 times and saying itâs impossible.
B) Please donât ignore the fact I specifically stated razor ice and images need tuning, as do other add spawns. Some bug fixes also seem required.
Honestly after watching some other players complete the challenge and looking at what I was possibly doing wrong, it was easy to see my mistakes and changing those small things made a big difference. I donât think this requires you to be a world first raider or anything of the sort. The challenges should be tweaked to make the experience consistent across different classes for sure.
I get melted on my Havoc even using the Double Jump method over Razor Ice. The FB spam is doing 1.5k a hit to my 6.5k health pool. By the time I double jump, Fel Rush out and back to Xylem, Iâm dead before 10% leech Soul Rending (instead of 100% Leech Soul Rending from Legion) can even put a dent in the damage I took.
The only solution outside of using an expensive set with specific survival trinkets would be to hold Eye Beam and equip Swift hand of justice, say in the razor ice and comet storm longer, while the eye beam heals me to full before fel rushing out.
Something thatâs completely counter to what Blizzard states about the encounter : urgency of moving out of Comet storm. Itâs the reason they stated for BUFFING the damage on it by 100%.
Then I fail to see why you think any of these complaints are unjustified.
Yes i do. Watch the resto shaman videos of the completions though. All of them have the same thing in common. The mage NEVER casts on the same target twice in a row. If he does, you lose. Period. Thatâs an uncontrollable, automatic fail condition that doesnât exist for any of the other healer classes because the caster damage scaling isnt broken for them. Not to mention, the ptr videos and guides show needing to use windshear to interupt at two buff stacks. But, in the live version, a single cast at one stack is a one shot. This also does not exist with other healers. Hpal, for example, can allow the stacks to get up to 3 or 4 and it STILL doesnât one shot your NPCs.
I know it can be done, but just because a few people have gotten absurdly lucky 4 waves in a row does not make it ok. The scaling and damage is busted.
There are currently twice as many havoc players that have completed the xylem challenge as opposed to frost DK, so statistically it should be easier to complete.
See there is some strategy and self reflection in your post, thatâs what the community needs to be doing more of rather than immediately jumping to conclusions.
I donât understand why youâre lashing out, Iâve agreed the fights need tuning in every post Iâve made, I just donât think theyâre impossible as is.
