Nor did I claim as much. You did, however, say it should be a Hunter Hero Spec. That would require that it belongs on Hunter (i.e., has tighter affinity with and more to leverage within Hunter than with[in] any other class).

Never said they were. But being a Darkspear troll is also the only reason Darkspear Trolls’ respected shaman (“shamans” if you prefer) have proficiency with glaive-spears and dark magics. Because they are part of the Dark… spear… tribe.
If you take someone who went through a near-identical rite among the Skyhorn Tribe, they’d be proficient with heavy spears and bows, because that’s the martial tradition and expected training of anyone from the Skyhorn tribe. Just as if you took a Paladin who grew up in Westfall, they’d know their way around a pitchfork, no part of which would make a pitchfork a “Paladin” weapon, nor necessarily theme some Sherriff hero class therefrom around said pitchfork.
No, by my logic as repeatedly stated, he’d be a paladin if
- he used exclusively basic human racial martial training outside of that which is iconic to paladins,
- he called himself a Paladin, and
- his powers were dependent on his Paladin Vow.
Such is the relationship between Shadow Hunters and shaman(s).
And serpent wards, which is specifically shaman.
And all shamans have access to this, not just trolls. The only thing from SH thats troll specific is the ultimate, which is fine, since originally we did have for example priests get plenty of diff abilities based on race.

Those two are the closes classes to a SH that what my point was. Hunters are not comparable to Shadow Hunters, and would fit better as Shaman Hero class.
However, it is used by all three, which brings back to their similarities.
When you think of Glaives what class comes to mind first or even character?
So probably warrior/rogue

Hunter/Huntress, if only because that was the first user (type). Then Illidan (character). Then Spellbreakers (type). Then Rokhan (character). Then finally demon hunters (type).
If we’re agreeing on this, why any of this consideration as to whether they are Priest/Rogue/DH/etc hybrids? I could see the point if there were a cross-class capable Timerunning shtick coming up before 12.0, but…

So shadow hunters have clear mechanical similarities to shamans (chain heal, hex, n serpent wards), they have some similary to priest (swp)
“agile fighter” like enhancement shaman ? last i checked they’re considered agile

I was gonna say the huntress unit. Especially since their upgrade was bouncing glaives which was incredibly OP in the original WC3 pre expansion.
It was the first time glaives were distinct from other thrown weapons (via that ricochet), aye.
- Hell, we already had Demon Hunter “glaives” in the form of certain TBC and WotLK swords and fist weapons without ever needing a separate name for fist-centered (or tonfa-shaped) slicey thing.

All these abilities are just showing that SH are already integrated into other specs. To bring SH as an actual class would require reworking other specs and removing abilities to create them.
You named abilities from Shamans, Rogues, Hunters, and Priests.
It’s same as Death knights are combination of Runemaster and Necromancer. To separate SH from four classes would be a large hill to climb over.

some of crazy people started to shadow hunter is shaman spec.
