Like the OP said Im surprised they are blending Proudmore a hi pop Alliance realm with Hyjal a hi pop Horde Realm. Sounds like a big battle brewing to me. It’s like mixing oil with water, not going to go well.
You are right al is lookin hot there
As a Hyjal GM, tons of us are LGBT friendly. We have multiple guilds led by people in the community and at least one guild that caters exclusively to creating a safe place for people in the community.
I dunno I think you guys are making too much of it. Mergers happen all the time.
Maybe hyjal is so low pop they figured instead of connecting them with 4 other realms, they’d just connect them to one.
Some of us play on WRA because we had bad experiences on Moon Guard, and do not want to be placed with those sorts of players.
There’s a stereotype for a reason.
I just want to be sure that this isn’t going to lead to destruction of our community. I don’t care so much about the economy and PVP and such, I just want to make sure the community stays the same. Proudmoore has that “small realm feel” because, despite its size, it has a tight-knit community of open-minded and friendly players!
The most happy gay folks I met on proudmoore realm are the ones that don’t care what other people think about them or say. You are blowing things out of proportion. People will think and say what they want and you can’t control it, So stop worrying about it.
The community will be fine.
Hyjal is not low pop at all, it’s marked as high I suppose given the numbers websites show, and proudmoore is full. This is the biggest realm connection ever made, they have connected full realms to low pops before, but full to high was never done!
I just want to be sure that this isn’t going to lead to destruction of our community.
If a ‘community’ of 15000 or so can’t handle another 1000 people they weren’t much of a community in the first place. I feel sorry for the Hyjal alliance minority that has to join with all you ‘welcoming’ souls though.

Hyjal is about the same size as Kel’thuzad and is bigger than Wyrmrest Accord or Lightbringer. These are not small servers.
Hyjal has 13 12/12 Mythic guilds currently, for example. It’s a high pop server.
There is already tons of competition for quest objectives, farming etc.
This just shows how out of touch Blizzard is with there own server dynamic. Maybe if they actually played the game they would understand.
The main point of this merge is to give some form of server balance. Secondly as someone who has characters on both sides of proudmoore, I decided to visit Hyjal last night. They are lowkey Proudmoore 2.0 on horde side so people can put down the pitchforks and be happy.

Which isn’t important in modern WoW, since we already get CRZ’ed with Alliance Proudmoore and neither server’s AH is in bad shape and in need of a merger.
Alliance Proudmoore won’t have any additional interaction with Horde Hyjal.
Horde Hyjal won’t have any additional interaction with Alliance Proudmoore.
Horde Proudmoore and Alliance Hyjal are extremely few in number.
Who benefits from a “balanced server”? Sure, in vanilla it was important for PvP, but it’s completely irrelevant these days.
All this will cause is login queues and lag. For the benefit of no one.
The people who benefit are Alliance Hyjal and Horde Proudmoore.
And it’s worth inflicting lag and login queues on everyone else by creating the 2nd-largest giga-server in the world?
As opposed to all the people on dozens and dozens of realms who desperately need to be connected because their realms are dead on both factions, and Blizzard decides to inconvenience the high-pop realms instead.
This is insane.
Lag and quenes will be temporary at the start of Shadowlands like it always is. And small realms are being connected still. Also as someone who is Horde Proudmoore, I welcome this so I can be in an active guild with more than three to five people online. So what I am actually saying here is welcome neighbor.

Except we don’t have login queues on Hyjal, even at the start of expansions. If we get them from now on, it will be Proudmoore that is bringing them.

If it was that important to you, then you should have moved to Hyjal (or Tichondrius) like people do all the time.
Is it to add more Horde to Proudmoore?
Probably this.
They’ve got the numbers and are matching it so as it decrease the amount of ‘low’ servers and push more up to the med- med-high.
They’ve also got other calculations happening that they are taking into consideration in preparation for Shadowlands.

Or, they’re making a mistake.
They are human after all so it’s a possibility.
