I really like hunter class tree. I think my main issue with the hunter class tree is that Lone wolf cant use all the pet stuff like pet stun … i dont think it was thought out really well.
I also feel like they should of reworked some of our defensives and added it into the class tree. On top of that stuff like fear beast etc should be baseline.
BM talent tree is pretty good but MM talent tree is pretty awful imo.
I guess that’s a subjective statement, but the BM tree is convoluted and filled with contradictory talents. There are also a slew of bugged talents preventing us from playing with different builds.
If you want a real kicker, sim your Hunters between BM and MM. That newest 10% buff didn’t just bring them up to BM’s level, it surpassed them.
M+ damage profile for SV is Butchery, WFB, Ranger, Explosive Shot, Serpent Sting /w Injectors, FoE, and Stampede. With this profile I have done pretty well with AOE. I actually have my AOE build in my profile now.
As I said before, I have been 1 or 2 with my damage with people with similar gear. I have said and still says we will be fine.
M+ is not open.
Survival has strong ST and okay (but not great) AoE. M0s are not a good way to gauge a spec’s performance.
Any spec will be “fine” in M+.
I mean BM might not be fantastic but the MM tree is actually swamp. Numbers aside MM hunters kinda got screwed over again rework\talent wise.
Its like bear druid, they got no rework and just got a big buff at the end to make up terrible class design. IMO i would rather have good class design on MM and the spec feeling good than just big damage.
I beat most people think the same way as most people dont do high keys etc.
Pretty much Blizz can do two things since the concensus is squishy is bad all we have is long CD heals and defensives. Either give us even more mobility so we can flee and survive better and double down on ways to get away like rogues can vanish or keep our mobility the same but start buffing our CD skills to be shorter and give use heals thru damage for sustain by giving all hunters a base amount of leech and undoing the pet leech nerf.
I’ll try to be gentle. I mained hunter since vanilla and am more then sympathetic.
2/3rd of the healers in the game are now PreVokers. The best heal is called Temporal Anomaly. It is, by design, best used with a melee pile. Our casting range is also very limited.
If you stand outside of our range, specifically behind us. You are a hinderance to the group. If you do this and are very squishy, we really, REALLY, don’t want you. A single range is ok. A Lock is ok. When we see a hunter in our group, MM most of all, we want to log out.
Squishy people who stand in bad to get their cast off and are also behind us really suck. That’s the game Blizzard has made.
Yeah, I think I mentioned in one of my above comments (might have been on a different thread) that MM’s extended range is going to be useless, since the meta healer is a toss-up between Prevoker and Rdruid. My money is on preservation evoker, since it’s honestly the best way for a potential meta comp to access lust.
MM hunters were already playing the game of “how long can I outrange the healer” IME before preservation, and with preservation’s short range they will have less opportunities to take advantage of their extended maximum range. Also, we’ll probably see a lot of evoker healers rage at any ranged DPS for being off in Kansas.
I don’t think preservation’s limited range with be that bad of a limitation in 5-mans, especially organized ones, but the ranged DPS definitely need to play around it a bit.
True, but we hardly see any mages now, and most of the rest are self sufficient. Really though, I can not stress how much easier a run is with a pure melee group. Locks are a second best, SOOO self sufficient. MM hunters are by far the worst.
Every run, they stand in EVERYTHING to get Aimed Shot off. They ALWAYS stay out of my range, and ALWAYS in a different direction from the group. They can NEVER take care of themselves.
Best solution I can think of is buff SotF to 10-12 seconds baseline then add 1 minute CD reduction for Turtle and SotF to Lone Wolf. Won’t affect PvP much since all 3v3 MM will be running a pet anyway.
I’m playing hunter again after having mained it in MoP and I’ve been having a blast. I have no complaints about MM, it’s been super fun so far. The only time I feel like I need defensives/more sustain is in the open world, damage can wrack up fast and exhil/camo heal can only go so far.
If I had to give a single ability to hunters to increase their survivability and bring them more in line with modern class design, I’d get rid of the “Cannot attack” bit of aspect of the turtle. No reason it functions similarly to pally bubble while not allowing you to keep attacking. If it’s an issue in PVP, just make is mass dispellable. Make 40% survival of the fittest baseline and replace the talent with like, “each time you get a killing blow, the CD on SOTF is reduced by x%” and just buff natural mending to exhil is usable more to spot heal yourself, but not so good that it’s a spammable heal.
Only idiot here is you bud. Well, only idiot left anyways. That other dude was pretty dumb but at least it seems he learned he was wrong and had the awareness to stop posting fried monologues.
That’s hardly a point worth aiming at MM Hunters specifically (BM can just move into the stack and SV are already melee), as it applies even more greatly to every caster (MM is still high-mobility… for a caster).
That’s a problem with Temporal Anomaly being as big a portion of Preservation value as it is and/or Evokers just being overly valuable in M+ for their combined utility, damage, and healing.
That being said, for both PvE and PvP, MM would have a lot more mobility to leverage to offset its relatively low defensives if Aimed Shot had just a slightly lower cast time, as not to require Streamline and/or so much Haste (a frequently decent but not-great stat) just to have a reasonable number of mechanics between which they could weave in their (unaccelerated) cast.
