According to Dorki and Tettles, Hunter is just the worst-designed class in the game. Thoughts? Starts the discussion at 32:00.
Obviously we havent done high keys yet in release to get a good basis, but I havent noticed any major survivability issues.
Do you believe everything someone else tells you? Hunter for me has been great so far. I mostly pvp but overall its been great.
Everyone has their own opinions, but they’re not wrong about the lack of defenses, especially when you compare them to what other classes got in Dragonflight. We need some sort of passive defense in my opinion.
All DKs can choose Will of the Necropolis, which reduces all damage by 20% if they’re under 30% health. Hunters get Survival of the Fittest, which is the same 20% reduction for only 8 seconds on a 3 minute cooldown. That’s not even remotely equitable.
While some sort of passive defense would be ideal, it’s not likely to happen now that DF is live. I think the best option right now is to reduce the cooldown of Survival of the Fittest by a lot. When I say a lot, I mean a 1 minute cooldown that is reduced to 30 seconds with Lone Survivor or 40% reduction with Nature’s Endurance.
Aside from that, we still have an awful lot of bugged talents. Not sure how they’re already doing tuning passes when we have so many negatively broken talents.
I agree with you. I think the problem is that we as hunters have 2 range and 1 melee spec. Which makes it very difficult to balance the defenses around. Melee typically need more defenses then range. This is just my theory of course.
I agree that melee typically needs more defenses, but every ranged class currently has far more defensives than Hunters right now. Warlocks, Mages, Shaman, Druids, Evokers, Priests… all have defensives and self-sustains that put Hunters to shame. That is why the topic of Hunters being the “worst class in the game” is so hot right now. Especially with the damage theme of the expansion being rot.
If only it had 3 ranged specs
Agreed, they need a buff to bring, it’s not looking good for Hunters.
SV though lives with the same defenses BM and MM has. You would think that SV would get a few more defensive considering we are Melee.
So far in M0 I have not had any issues. I will see what happens when Mythic open for sure. I will also see what happens in raids. But as I have said, I feel SV will be fine.
I will add the Lunge talent is a nice indirect boost to SV survivability. Though I wonder if requesting lunge to be 6yds instead of 3 would come off as greedy…
worst defensives
garbage utility
BM- boring spec that has barely changed
MM- which has been the opposite of fun since BFA and somehow wasnt redesigned
SV- which has been redesigned 3 times since going melee and still not popular except last season
worst class for sure
Learn how to think for yourself
This guy is an idiot
SV will always be fine according to the low and malleable standards of SV diehards.
OP are you clearing cutting edge mythic content at a top 100 level? Are you playing the higher eschelons of rated pvp? Are you climbing as high mythic plus rating as you possibly can? If no, these meme grifter class tier lists mean literally nothing to you and you shouldnt be influenced by them. Play what you think is -fun- my friend.
Imagine if:
-
Aspect of the Turtle had it’s cooldown cut in half, 2 charges, and you could attack while using it.
-
Exhilaration had a 15sec cooldown.
-
Aspect of the Cheetah had 2 charges and a 30sec cooldown, let you run on water, and let you cast Aimed Shot while moving.
How much stronger would you be?
Dev Evoker has all that and more, yet almost every non-hunter whose trying that class is complaining, and believes, that DEvoker is the weakest, squishiest class.
That’s how far away the bar is.
And we care what these losers say?
Bro you’re 63, calm down
No 69,and i still mean it
Yes it’s important to remind people that Hunters really aren’t asking for much given what other classes got in DF.
It would. A 60% increase in range is already huge, especially in M+. That said, it should probably be a choice node opposite something like raw mobility or a revised Deterrence (say, as a short-CD, super-short duration oGCD auto-parry).
- Not everyone wants to just circumvent melee mechanics by max-(extended)-melee-ranging everything. I’d far more rather see SV offer compensatory advantages for its melee uptime than just to try to make being melee as much of non-issue as possible.
