A BITā¦meaning (LW) 25% down to 20% and (ST) 30% down to 20%ā¦not (LW) 25% to 15% and (ST) 30% down to 10%. IMO those are HUGE changes/nerfs
Agree. Wars are gonna do more dmg without World Buffs in SOD than they did in Nila/Classic with WBs.
I think balancing around levels other than 60 is a bad idea tbh. At 60 without runes Hunter (the only remaining pure DPS class and should be top damage or close to it) is half the DPS of warriors. Buffing warriors to match hunters dps at this level just seems like theyāre seeing themselves up for disaster in the future.
They either hit warriors with a MASSIVE nerf bat in the raiding tier making them upset, give something like a 300% hunter damage buff at 60 making everyone else upset or do nothing and we stack 25 warriors in our raids. I really hope they have a plan for this and arenāt just winging things as they go.

Serpent sting doesnāt scale with spell dmg unfortunately, just arcane shot.

also, if the SS is doing more damage bc of spellpower, wouldnt the Chimera shot proc be bigger?

When Chimera Shot first came out it didnāt share and CD with others, so it shouldnāt. It is fun disarming a melee. However, it takes two CDs to doā¦Scorpid Shot, then Chimera Shot. With our Classic Era dead zone, it will be challenging to get off as the melee closes the gap.
In Classic the only thing that didnāt scale was out traps. They act like engineering explosives, which thankfully, donāt scale. Can you imagine a fire mage that had scaling sapper charges?
Yeah I agree with thisā¦I also think it would be cool if these talents scaled with level.

100%ā¦ Almost all posts in the SOD forum are guesstimations because we havenāt got to play a PTR or Beta and Blizz has only given a little information here and there. I hope these nerfs/buffs were for balancing at level 25, and not a one and done thing.
I am hopeful that with each level cap, Blizz will adjust the runes to scale, much like you listed. This new capped leveling system gives them much more flexibility to continually adjust than anytime in the past.
Yeah you would think that since we have only one roll in the game DPS, they would make hunters do the most damage in the game, but that makes too much sense and we are in a non sensical hunter hate. Hunters are still behind warriors now druids and locks as far as damage in the 25 bracket with the recent nerfs. If pets are going to scale now and traps being able to be placed in combat, what we thought was going to be the go to spec MM, might be switching to BM. But then again tis the season for discovery just have to wait and see.

Ah I meant like if people were that concerned about hunter aimshot burst they should be worried about shammies hitting them just as hard if not harder, especially if the Overload second cast spell can crit. A flameshock + lava burst (crit) + overload lava burst (crit) is just going to absolutely delete any clothie, probably leather classes, and chunk a plate wearer.

Ugh your post sealed it for me. Wont be playing hunter again I loved hunter from vanilla till they got rid of mana. Still mained it in Cata but when I returned to classic I couldnāt. I forgot how horrible the pet AI is. If their own blizzcon showed hunter pet not able to reach bosses then you either play lone Wolf or dismiss. I much rather play another class

I kinda agree, warriors are already top dps and have like 4 runes for straight damage increases and they barley got touched meanwhile one of the worst dps on classic got nerfed to hell
I havenāt looked into SoD much, but all of the runes proposed look straight boring at best and nonsensical at worst, especially since the talents seem to just be basic Classic talents.
The entire reason Explosive Shot is a fun ability is because Lock and Load exists. Without Lock and Load, itās just another instant damage button you press every 6 seconds. In the current runes, Chimera Shot and Explosive Shot are identical and you will just pick the one that does more damage.
Itās the same thing with Serpent Spread. Serpent Spread is fun in Cataclysm BECAUSE SERPENT STING HAS INITIAL APPLICATION DAMAGE AND MULTISHOT HAS NO CD. It gives your Multishot some extra oomph because you can spam it and SVās mastery gives more damage to magical damage. Why the heck would I care about putting a 6s DoT on 3 targets? Especially when in Classic thereās literally nothing for you to do in 3+ target situations in the first place. What, do you think Iām going to volley with the pitiful Classic damage scaling? No, Iām going to be tab+serpent stinging anyway BECAUSE THEREāS NOTHING ELSE TO DO.
Every single chest bonus is just a passive gain on stats, thereās nothing there. Itās boring. Woah cool 5% crit who cares, amazing wow 10% more stats, 15% more damage but no pet so I probably lose 15% of my damage and it limits the other runs I can use wow so fun.
Donāt even get me started on the melee abilities. Flanking Strike, melee the enemies AND INCREASE MONGOSE BITE/RAPTOR STRIKE DAMAGE BY 10%?? Do you have any idea how little damage Mongoose Bite does and how convoluted it is to make it active? In absolute full Naxx40 BIS in Classic with a 2h weapon, MONGOOSE BITE DEALT 380 DAMAGE. 6 second cooldown and can only be used after dodging, at the level weāll have this rune, Mongoose Bite will be rank 1 and it will deal TWENTY-FIVE FLAT DAMAGE. NO, THIS ISNāT A WEAPON SWING + 25 DAMAGE, IT IS TWENTY-FIVE DAMAGE.
Just get a single person that plays Hunter on the development team, please.
