Hunter pets

Your others were valid, but this is just blatantly false. I was getting trucked by 180 damage scorpid poison ticks. Even as an undead with Void Plague, Shadow Word: Pain, and Devouring Plague combined, the damage might tick for half that much.

Not denying the fact that scorp poison was op due to weird spellpower formula, but mine was hitting for 75-80 a tick with decent gear so I’m not sure how 180 was possible even before they ‘fixed’ KC interaction.

Working as intended thanks for posting

I don’t know either. I remember checking my combat log and being baffled, and then understanding why I felt like no amount of healing I was outputting was making any real difference.

Fighting a wind serpent with its hunter pet is fun isn’t it?

about as fun as a mage or a druid rooting us and abusing our deadzone
or a priest pressing penance on themselves
or a warlock SL SL’ing us
or a druid spamming sunfire on us

I 100% believe the forums just hate hunters and wont be happy until theyre deleted from the game

Or a tank sham bum rushing you with frost shock and earthbinds.

Idk, the tooltip says it only does like 40 damage or something stupid, so I don’t think base spell damage is an issue here.

The River cries Strong in this one.

Max rank viper sting is 1108 mana over 8 seconds. My priest right now has 2.4k mana. A max rank viper sting is in no way going to OOM anyone at 60 in full naxx gear in 3 casts. It can barely even OOM my priest in 2 casts. It’s a flat amount of mana and doesn’t scale.

Was. In regular classic.

Viper sting is useless when classes now like driid have a starsurge that costs 2 mana or sunfire thats free in forms

I play a priest, paladin, warrior and a hunter. In near bis gear, missing 1 item, on my hunter scorpid poison ticked for 78 damage every 3 seconds, this is 26 dps. Scorpid poison could only be applied once per target, so you couldn’t have multiple dots on you at once, and was dispellable by every class in the game with first aid. It was only applied at melee range.

My priest’s void plague does 90 per tick, 30 dps. It can only be dispelled by 2 classes, is applied from 30 yards away, and my priest can heal to full for 79 mana every 12 seconds. My priest’s gear is significantly worse than my hunter’s, yet I’ve never died in any even 1v2 scenario.

Scorpid now ticks for 28 at 5 stacks (20 second cast time). At level 8 priests void plague does more damage now.

It’s like you don’t even see that their are runes in this game, that do more for hunter pets than talents ever did, which were still pretty good on their own.

And only do slightly more damage than they do now because lightning breath rank 3 is available at lvl 25, rank 4 is 41.

You are using it wrong. Arcane blast stacks, then get mana back with gems/potions/evocation. Then use it. Can hit for close to 1k.

Working as intended. Hunters are always over nerfed. Then we adapt, get nerfed again, adapt, new expansion comes and hunters start strong because they gave to much base damage again with poor scaling, and repeat.

The only problem with hunter pets right now is, that in most cases they demand zero skill. That level of zero, that a literally afk player can manage to kill another player. The other problem will arise with bestial wrath. If there will be more runes pushing pet damage, the hunter will have to press his 1 button and the window for counterplay is closed for most classes facing the pet. Generally speaking, anything without counterplay (cc/kite) is usually considered no fun.

However, we dont know how things will turn out. If we get even more instants and more burst without (passive) defensives, then maybe the fights will take only a few seconds, making cc less useful and unstoppable hunter pets less concerning.

Fear, Sleep, Root, Sheep, all viable counters to pet. If you don’t have one, tough luck. This is a class based game and it has always been this way. I suffered for years playing classic as a Warrior when Hunter was practically the only thing they could kill with Intercept + Hamstring. Now its your turn to suck it up.

Hunters require more skill than any other dps class does. It has more weaknesses, and fewer tools. Every other class presses 1 button for 50%+ of their damage. Overall classic has a low skill ceiling for all classes, but hunter is objectively one of the more difficult classes to play, especially as the phases progress and other classes get more tools.

Hunter is pretty much THE class that if you sleep on it in a fight, it WILL kill you. If you’re capable of closing that distance, they have practically no defense. Every time someone gets close and hinders my movement, all I got is Raptor Strike and Mongoose Bite, neither of which put you in ANY danger of being killed.

Do we even consider this an ability?

I mean it ALMOST heals the enemy with how little damage it does, with the dodge requirements, and mana usage. I had 2 stacks of flanking strike (got the bis polearm and was lvling polearms) and it CRIT for 36 damage, thats with the 2h bis trident polearm…

It is the weakest hunter ability with 0 scaling, has a dodge requirement to use, and also has a CD. Its ridiculous how bad it is.
