Mythic raiders think that any insanely small in game power advantage is mandatory. Aka, they are ruining the game for everyone else. Aka they are the reason we can’t have nice things.
Did we forget about the guys doing AP so hard they caused physical harm to themselves…
No, the other 5% compensates for the lack of core tenants by introducing new systems. Things like Darkest Dungeon, where the randomized aspect came from your party members and not abilities.
I am meeting every point you make with a completely valid counterpoint. How is that nitpicking? It’s called a conversation.
Except I listed everything it didn’t have and what I wanted from it.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand we’ve come full circle. You’ve run out of talking points and are now pulling out the gear point again because you just can’t admit that maybe Torghast wasn’t all that good.
And by the way, most people will agree that Torghast sucked. Even the most hardcore players did not like Torghast. It was an awful experience that existed to waste all of our times. A completely missed opportunity in terms of providing varying content within the span of WoW’s offerings. So I don’t know why you keep inferring that I think Torghast sucked because it didn’t include gear.
I’ve mentioned so many times that I really do not care about gear. The only times I have ever discussed it was when I was talking about Blizzard’s design philosophy. You just can’t stand that I’m actually giving decent points and are now relegating to the same shtick you do in every thread.
First, it was “Torghast has all these things.”
Then, it was “People would have hated Torghast if it had all the things roguelikes have.”
Then, it was “It’s inspired by roguelikes, it doesn’t have to be an actual roguelike.”
Yes, Legendaries were a very insanely small in game power advantage. Almost no difference between having and not having them.
You’re just talking in circles and pretending a feature that Blizzard was clear was only inspired by a roguelike should be 100% like every other Roguelike.
I think as far as running out of talking points, you’re firmly in there.
Torghast had everything you wanted. Even ability unlocks from Box of Many things. Just because you find a twisted way of saying you wanted the same thing, but the different, doesn’t mean you’ve actually scored a point.
Because if it’s going to ape the core tenants of a roguelike, I expect it to commit by including the rest of those core tenants, or at the very least provide something new.
But you’re right. Blizzard was inspired by roguelikes, and their inspiration was to gut everything great about them and convert the corpse into a mandatory power grind. It would be like taking all the platforming mechanics of a Mario game and then deciding not to include the jumping puzzles associated with them, and then putting you, the player, in a corridor where you just jump over the same bush ad nauseam except with varying heights.
So in a way, I guess they did bring something new to the genre.
Saying this over and over again doesn’t make it any more true. The irony in you telling me that I’m running out of talking points and then reiterating the same things that I’ve already debunked is really palpable.
No thanks. I will continue to use the forums, which is designed for feedback, to express my opinion, but I appreciate your invaluable input nonetheless.
How does Mythic Raiders trying to get every advantage they can to down bosses affect you and other players? Is it something that’s mandatory or are players just incapable of understanding that the content they do doesn’t require min/maxing
