Huge nerf to solo/outdoor gear progression in DF Season 1

I liked that one too!
Was also sad to see that go.

Guess i just liked the fact that levelling the cypher increased the level of the items being given

The ol I pulled myself up by my bootstraps argument. That works soooo well. You watch fox news all day? LoL

Say i’m new. Undergeared, and it’s midseason. I try to join +2’s, but keep getting declined, and I don’t know the game well enough to lead.

What do I do? How is that experience good for the game?
What progress can you make solo?

So you kinda get the point. Blizzard changes every patch, you don’t particularly enjoy a system over another. They all have their quirks (this is a video game after all, not a pez dispenser). Why expect something to stick around ?

As opposed to just getting the best gear right out of the gate ?

As someone that has played mage spriest lock and Druid at low gear levels

Each class has its own tools to survive. It’s 100% a skill issue.

Can you post a copy of the internal memo you got that from or did he just FaceTime you and tell you himself?

How exactly is the “ml” going to make me trade?

You can pass if you want, but rolling for whatever reason isn’t stealing. If you win you win, and you’ll be using that mog longer than they’re be using the actual gear.

Looks for people in similar situations or who’ve started working on alts. You’re not the only one.

Yes, that’s what all new players do. They start in the starter content, and work their way up. Rare are those that stop themselves and start whining they needed better pixels for sticking to easy mode.

I mean it actually does. If I’m filling a 15 and someone has a 10/15 of the dungeon done I’m going to invite them over the person with a +2 completed for said dungeon.

Raids and dungeons have been able to stick to a formula that works.
Not that strange to think blizzard could pick a design that works for world content and stick to it.

Why would i want the best gear just given to me?
That removes all the fun of progressing your character.

After two expansions of world quests and/or emissaries being fully updated for each season and providing at least Normal raid iLvl gear, Ion came out in an interview saying that players need to graduate on from world quests. Then Shadowlands comes out, and any gear from the open world is nerfed to oblivion.

No coincidences here.

Indeed. But slow it down. Say it’s a +3 you are doing. Do you invite the guy that overgears it, or the new guy?
Be honest. Because we all know everyone invites the dude that overgears it, because they want an ez run. If everyone does that, and they all do for the most part. That makes getting into groups and trying to improve HELL for new players. And why would they want to integrate into a community that hates them.

Calls them trash and treats them like it as well.

A plus three I don’t really care. I invite both.

Yes, they are pillars of end game.

But it’s not a pillar of end game. People get tired of a patch’s system over the course of a patch. Because most of the content is trivial anyway and so becomes chory real fast. Hence why Blizzard shakes it up, to prevent apathy from setting in.

You think Nethershard gear was just given to you ? The point is you don’t have to refarm it multiple times as it upgrades in the world.

Not stepping into content that has better rewards does that too. Go run a key.

I guess we just have very fundamentally different views here

Can’t not fotm and overgeared. That’s all the kids take these days.

Start my own group, sure, new players have the confidence to do that. lol

It’s a plus 3. It’s already an easy run.

The community doesn’t hate them. The most toxic part of the community is the 5-14 key bracket because it’s filled with people that are pretending to be good taking it out on people learning.

If someone actually wants to mount the effort in to learn I will help them. There’s a poster on the GD discord in in that I helped them time their first 16 or 17. We pugged three people (tank and two dps) and we two chested it.

While in discord I was explaining certain fight mechanics

It’s all about attitude.

Mine is based on “play what’s there to get the gear needed”. Yours is based on constantly wanting the game to be changed to adapt to you.

Adaptability is a quality most modern gamers have. Those who lack adaptability are quite frankly, in the wrong genre of electronic entertainment.

I started a MM hunter from scratch in S4. He’s 2714 io now. He wasn’t FOTM or overgeared.

What’s your excuse ?

Less than BFA, sure. Nerfed to oblivion? Nah. It was strong enough to make everything in the open world trivial except for one part of the maw that nobody ever needed to spend any time in.

Maybe you are a diamond in the rough. But you are outnumbered so heavily, it hardly matters.

My main alt right now is a spriest. Not fotm at all and I pug 15s

I mained BM and pugged 15s.

Fotm is only a factor on groups you don’t want to be in anyways.

Is this not what the professions overhaul is all about? As far as I’m aware, crafting gear goes all the way up to heroic raid iLvl, and can be achieved without the need of instanced or grouped content.
