I think you mean “if you want higher than lfr gear”
Show me the LFR ilvl gear outside of LFR in 10.0.
When even stepping into LFR is too much to ask a player, it’s the player, not the game. LFR is 0 effort, all inclusive.
Even Storm sigil gear, the top gear from world content in 10.0, is below LFR ilvl.

The article the OP links says the gear is 385 and says its the same item level as lfr

Because this game has been designed around group content at endgame. You’re never going to get bis item level from doing solo content. It’s not going to happen.

You do realize you already get normal raid level gear right?
I do hardcore m+ … i only raid if my wife makes me, OR … my buds are on drinking.
It’s far more rare since we are all getting close to 50.
In shadowlands we do.
In dragonflight we dont.
Is a shame they left the cypher system out of dragonflight. It was a great way of gearing up.
Although the upgrades were only like 2 item levels at a time, you still got that feeling of progression.
And at the end of it some decent gear to use.
Ah well, you win some you lose some.
Maybe world content will feel fine in low gear and the zones have their own sense of progression?
Will have to wait and see on that.

I’m talking about solo gear rewards.
They already award normal raid level ilvl now and in DF.
I’m a 90 year old trapped in a 35 year olds body so I 100% understand 
They got reduced to heroic DUNGEON ilvl.

Actually in DF you do.
You have to upgrade it with currency from the DF invasions.
It’s still there with the new DF invasion currency.
