Oh it definitely was. You’re correct! That was a large reason why I invited collaboration between the LNM and GBM. Peaches has been instrumental in helping to spread the word. It’s only decent that I offer the same courtesies!
Now we’re cooking with blight.
Well, I had a warlock that wasn’t being used, so…! I guess I’ve got to get her geared up and heading to events. I hope to see y’all in-game!
This isn’t a game. Nor is it a debate. I also didnt say she was rude specifically to me but in a general sense as she was vaguely pointing at people who were icly voicing their disagreements about the law.
I don’t understand why you’re trying to pick out what the hidden meaning is when I’ve said it clearly. If you wish I can try to clarify it further in case I didn’t explain it.
And once again to everyone talking abkut discords, how do you propose that to people who don’t have a discord or don’t want to get discord or even don’t wish to use it? You’ve said that forums aren’t viable because of “toxicity” but at the same time you can block them and pretend they don’t exist.
Advertisements ahould be meant for everyone especially if you’re trying to get new people and new blood flowing. It shouldn’t be for just a select few.
I’ve been lurking on MG-H for a bit now (ignore my classic toon, my character select is all whacked out), and have many multiple years experience with guild running/officering. Been watching this thread and while there’s a lot of typical bickering, what I’ve gathered from this is there’s niches that need to be filled on MG-H.
What would people want to see more of H-side? I have a few ideas I can spitball around, as I’ve noticed there’s a lack of elves and gobbos (and tbh, silvermoon AND bilgewater are both fantastic spots for walkups). I want to help this community grow in whatever way I can.
I do know we are missing an active elf guild, as well as I am unsure if Flashbang is still active or not.
May as well dredge myself up as the contraian
Discords are insular communities that are internal. You’re only getting folks already in them, they’re inherently awful at getting new participation or being external to folks not in the community. Which is good for, internal small stuff, but utterly useless for any sort of external outreach
Anywho, I’ma be contraian on the event stuff. Its all well and good some folks have had success with that but, the reason I don’t play Kanth here which, I know he hasn’t been around in a while but he’s hardly an unknown character Horde-side, is that lack of walk up or, well, anything. Because, well, timezones. I’m in Australia, oceanic time-zones, so every single event people go on about, say is great or whatever?
I cannot go to any of them and they’re completely irrelevant to me. So my options are “See if there’s people around Orgrimmar (there may be like, 2 in the whole city, let alone the RP zone)” or “Go to where there are actually people in my time-zone, which is Alliance side”
Events aren’t going to help things for everyone if every event in the server is being run at times that just aren’t feasible for everyone. So that’s why I’ve had to basically retire the character. All these events mean nothing if they’re being done at times I can’t attend because, y’know. Work.
I’ve seen some Flashbang members on Timerunning, so they’re at least around if not as active
Good to know!
I also wouldn’t mind cooking on a dracthyr guild, since it was announced more classes are coming for them next expac.
Ultimately, I keep hearing/seeing MG-H’s walkup culture is garbo. And the best way to fix that is to simply be present, consistently (as we’ve seen with Thomas Bates in duskwood on WRA-A, a dark mirror of MG-H in terms of community size). So whatever I go with, I definitely want to have a consistent area to be in so that an RP scene is fostered. Kinda like planting a garden; gotta pick the plot first.
I’m gonna go fly around various horde cities to get a feel for them, see which ones would be better for walk-ups than Org
That’s my issue on both sides just because my timezone is wonky depending on it’s either winter or summer because Arizona doesn’t do daylight savings time. It more or less becomes pacific coast time during the spring/summer and then mountain time for fall/winter.
So summer I have to subtract two hours mentally for the summer, winter I have to subtract only one hour. Which winter can be more feasible than summer. Though this year I started working at 6am, so I have to be up by 4am and go to bed around 8-9pm my time. So Summer is more feasible but winter it’s more difficult. Doable in some cases depending on how tired I am.
Events only work if you’re lucky enough to be in Central Time. Eastern Time Zoners also have some issues with it and anyone in Europe and Australia like you said or going to have a hard time trying to find something that doesn’t put them during the daytime when they’ve got work.
Okay after visiting SMC I have confirmed what I’ve already been thinking this entire time:
why doesn’t anyone RP here? It’s huge, IT HAS CHAIRS (!!! waow!!) and the story in the Horde has progressed enough that I feel like seeing an orc, a tauren, and a goblin hanging out in Wayfarer’s wouldn’t be that culture clashing?
Anyway, I’m putting in my vote for SMC and an elf guild. Another thing about walkup culture: if people see you out and about consistently, see your guild tag, and see that you interact with outsiders, they are more likely to want to join your guild! Everyone wins
I’m going to chime in a little bit. So, as others have said, it’s no secret that Moon Guard Horde is pretty small population wise. However, having been on Emerald Dream and WrA before coming to Moon Guard, I have to say the quality of RP on MG-H is really outstanding even if the community is small. It’s not great for walk-up RP; however, the depth to which those playing on Horde side go in developing RP story lines and their characters is astounding.
Additionally, I’ve never felt more included in RP than I have on MG-H. I tried MG-A for a while before joining UCN, but I could scarcely get anyone to interact with me. While the population over there is huge, it also feels more walled off to me. In fact, despite trying to play on MG-A for multiple months I didn’t make alliance friends until switching to MG-H LOL. MG-H and UCN have given me the space to be creative with both of my characters (Calletha and Glibnack the Leper Gnome) and the way in which I want to develop them, and I very much appreciate that. That’s not something you will find on every server nor on horde elsewhere in my experience; it’s why MG-H is worth staying and playing on.
I would be very interested in more SMC rp!
I think the lack of flying and it being so out of the way was part of the problem… I actually don’t know otherwise. Silvermoon is gorgeous.
And if you need someone to help, I have a few elf alts that -could- help, if necessary.
I’m referring to you randomly getting hostile for no reason when the person you were talking to was nothing but cordial with you in the conversation. You’re the one that stooped.
Discord or no the advertisements are there. Odds are people have discord. Even your guild does so the argument you make is kind of moot.
go off though I guess.
suppose these are valid points. I think people also forget that there’s a portal directly to SMC from orgrimmar now. No need to run to old UC to get there anymore
…Are there any undead pirate RP guilds already?
We’re sort of around in our own corner, and keep to ourselves ever since Coalition’s collapse.
If people wanna make gobs and join up with us, that’s up to them. We’re not the most active by a longshot, but we exist.
Personally, I’ve pretty much given up on MG-H and made a bunch of characters over on WRA. That said, reading this thread has sort of made me want to hop on Gavoz more often and stand around hoping for walk-up RP.
Makes sense when you realize it’s Derrie/Hopeshield posting on another character.
I will also touch on a few things of people saying “Well we can’t be all inclusive and just let everyone into all the RP.” Don’t think anybody is asking for like ALL the RP, just some. Like if there’s very little RP and people just are not finding anything then there’s a problem. There should be stuff for people to do and not have to jump through a ton of hoops, there does need to be some level of more casual Roleplay to help newer players grow and become interested - as well as for there to be growth.
Growth is important because otherwise, things tends to stagnate and dwindle as those that were already around leave, as the saying goes “Not everything lasts forever.” including people.
Correct, but also because of OOC reasons as previously listed that Horde likely wouldn’t give any of these people time of day to Roleplay if they tried to come over as well as evidenced in this thread and how hard it is to find RP in general.
That and every server has like… 40 different channels as well. It’s a lot. I tend to get put off when people say join the discord for all this info if I’m just trying to do an event.
If you happen to host events or might like the idea of participating in some Alliance side neutral events, hit me up on discord. We can anchor and collaborate with each other! Promote each other at the very least.
