How would YOU have written Sylvanas' defeat?

Evil Anduin should have just straight up decapitated her tbh.

I often criticize the way the story is going now, but after thinking about it ever since I saw this thread title, I can’t even really think how exactly I would do it?! There’s a lot of complicated puzzle pieces that go into a good villain, but usually a satisfying kill is the end piece of that. So… yeah.

Sylvanas falls dramatically to the ground as the other faction leaders move in to lay the final blow, but before they get there her sisters drop in from the sky, bows drawn. And then from behind them appearing from the darkness…Dominic Toretto appears. “There’s nothing stronger than family.” And then the screen fades to black and we see in giant golden letters World of warcraft: 2 Fast 2 Furious …ion pls hire me

Zovaal retracts his powers from her and kills her for “failing me”. The end.

This is hilarious! I love it

Sylvie gets her head popped off by Tyrande, she doesn’t get her plot armor. Then they put her undead, but talking head out like they used to do for Nelth’s head, and she talks about how bad she messed up or something for all eternity

If you read “Sister is another word for always” in the fairy tale book you’d find verreesa very much still wants her sister back. I think she will reunite with sylvanas. Alleria not so much.

Better? no. I can’t.

More rewarding? yes. The jailer, after she loses the fight to us, grabs her by the head and Omniman vs Flash wannabe crushes her face, brains and eyes shooting out, and throws her limp and lifeless body off the edge of whatever platform we are standing on.

Arthas/Uther steps in, throws down.

Sylvanas is winning, against the player led raid and the leaders of the factions, but then Tyrande pops back up. Only this time, she is not filled with hate or revenge, but with heartfelt sorrow for what Sylvanas has become and a deep sense of devotion to carry out Elune’s will.

Thus, when she Hail Marys her glaive, it strikes true, maybe a little bit of moonbeam or something to ensure players know she had Elune’s blessing. As Sylvanas dies she begs for help from Zovaal, who tells her, that he has a special place for her and takes her soul into his little portal jail thingy.

Then he turns to the raid and obliterates them, before leaving through the portal to remake reality. Everyone is killed. But because we and the leaders of the factions were mortal, our souls go to… the Shadowlands. Through help from our covenant leaders we will be sent forth to continue the struggle, but now we are immortal soul heroes, so, no more puny mortal champions.

In the next expansion, we work to find a way to track down the Jailor, first stop, whichever of the next cosmic force realities Blizzard wants us to visit to enlist for aid.

i tell the creative writing degree intern to pipe down when he suggest making a horde leader into a loot pinata, we launch the fascist light expansion after MoP

You don’t mess with family. Unless someone in your family is messing with your family, then you mess with whoever is the least family in the family. It makes perfect sense.

Prob just dead, but I feel there just gonna give a redemption direction to help defeat the jailer, wouldn’t be surprised if they kill anduin over her

Its interesting to read thru all of this discussion of the storyline, when in the end Blizzard has no idea on how to write the storyline in the first place.

I wouldn’t have to write her defeat because if I was the writer I would’ve left her dead after WotLK (after she helps kill the Lich King), and somebody else would’ve taken over the Forsaken (as they try to figure out where to go next as a people). I see no reason to drag her character through the mud to infinity after her arc is over.

Jailer gets last sigil laughs with Joy and ask everyone to bow to him . Sylvanas replies " I bow to no one" pulls out a bow and shoots the Jailer. Bow drops to the floor and goes straight to LFR loot table where noob 70 hunter picks it up. Happy ending )

This must all be a set up for the new dark/ Ranger class coming next patch

Nathanos in ghost form swoops her away from the battlefield on a rope. As they swing away sylvanus looks longing into his eyes and says “nathanos, you know i always…” then tyrande slices her head clean off as she blasts past them in flight. Nathanos hand slips dropping sylvanus’ body and he loses his grip on the rope and falls down, landing on her severed head, crushing it. Covered in blood and brains he rolls around on the floor before the revendreth people put a chain around him and drag him away, telling us heroes that he will make a glorious mana battery and his fate will be worse than anything the maw could offer.

edit: then all the broker cartels award us with bruto mounts

I would have done the same thing.

I don’t know how I would have written her defeat otherwise, OP, because I personally would not have written this Disneyland, soap opera, marvel comics wannabe cosmic warcraft story in the first place.

But I digress, instead I laugh quietly at these “writers”

Its hard to imagine a satisfying ending in general since Sylvanas has been plot protected for a while now, particularly in most bfa developments. I think one important thing is Sylvanas doesn’t appear to have just come out of a losing battle against the maw walkers. This strikes me as a massive misstep as basically everyone wants to get a hit in at Sylvanas at this point, lorewise, but the impression of the cut scene is she holds us off and buys time for the jailer to do his thing. Letting the players get their shots in would be a nice touch.

It has been pointed out one of the issues with this story choice is that its out of character for a “smart” character to not realize something as basic as the Jailor’s character not leaning toward good. I would emphasize and possibly add onto the plot point of Frostmourne being made with domination runes.

It would go as: us beating Sylvanas an inch within her unlife creates a moment of clarity and this is visually shown by a glow from her frostmourne scar that probably exists, sparking or something that visually showing damage. This would occur about when shes considering how similar this jailor thing is to the case with Arthas. Upon realzing this she becomes at least twice as mad as she was in the original cutscene and we get some wc3 dark lady visuals going before being subdued by anduin. The Jailor does his bit about giving a reward, but Sylvanas now in a state of mind similar to when she broke free in the frozen throne rejects her full soul, and banshees out in a storm red and black rage. Sylvanas’ soul shard is left for the exposition at the end.

I don’t think its perfect, but it at least explains why Sylvanas was acting so incoherent, because she was effectively under a high level charm type spell, just like in the scourge, ever since she jumped off of icecrown. This also is more interesting because any part of redeeming azeroth Sylvanas is questionable after bfa with her part of singlehandedly making the shadowlands happen, it’d be as if Illidan decided to shake gul’dan’s hand and suggest going to fight kil’jaeden together after nighthold instead of rightfully disenchanting him because the skull of gul dan has a level cap of 70. Its also a more interesting moral question regarding the soul chunk that has been in the maw for all of wow, while ex-warchief Sylvanas is having a turn of night warrior style impotent rage before going out like garrosh.

That of course is in lieu of simply rewriting a lot of things in the past few expansions.
