Wherefore would I bother conjuring aught about her hypothetical demise when the best possible hath already been penned?
Ye gods, I cannot help but laugh at that imagery.

Great post! I would have much preferred this.
the illogical I wanna be mad at the story brain has turned off at this point. Honestly, I’m perfectly fine with the current ending. The truth is that Sylvanas can never properly return to a significant position of power and will be like a hermit in the woods because she turned all of Azeroth against her. That’s what the resolution in BFA was representing the entire world has turned against Sylvanas and deem her a traitor. I’d be surprised if she even leaves the shadowlands. The current story is actually a fitting outcome for her, she did unimaginably cruel things to get something back and in the end she has no friends, nobody that likes her at all, all her allies are gone or are her enemies now. She’s surrounded by people that only will tolerate her presence because she’s a useful tool.
i wouldn’t have gotten this far if i was writing the story. the actions of BfA completely ruined her story arc, as it’s literally impossible for her not to want to kill herself after all this, now that she has her emotions back, she’ll feel the full weight of her genocide.
BfA was planned during the time where the walking dead and game of thrones were killing “important” characters every other month just for shock and awe. The writers did the stupidest thing imaginable - they diverted a plotline that existed before the newest writing trend to include that trend within it. It completely destroyed the narrative they were attempting to build. Sylvanas’ story was solid in Legion, but in trying to create BfA’s “going back to our roots” nonsense (by making all the races suddenly forget all the effort they put into fighting the burning legion), they created a dumb story, and dumb stories require dumb deus ex machina’s.
I wouldn’t have bothered with BfA at all. i would have added a little extra substance to Legion’s sylvanas subplot and then jumped into shadowlands, then i would have made some old god stuff happen in the expansion after the shadowlands when the jailer is out trying to destroy entire realms of existence. what better way to combat a dude trying to destroy the multiverse than to be smack bang in the middle of the void lords trying to protect themselves from him doing that? that’d be sick. it’d be the jailer vs the void lords (because honestly, i think it’s absolutely ridiculous that a bunch of mortals just happen to be powerful enough to kill god after god after god, at some point there has to be beings that are just untouchable by mortals, both the void lords and the jailer fit that profile flawlessly)
If they would have added stories in Shadowlands that showed why Sylvanas sided with the jailer after she flung herself from ICC that would help. Gives us some actual knowledge instead of being strung along. It’s WoW biggest issue with storytelling. They don’t give any info in sub plots to help the main story and it’s why there’s so much speculation all the time. And dead end story lines.
If they wrote her to not be the stereotypical villain where every setback we caused her throughout BFA was “all part of the plan” and actually influenced her story to take more drastic measures, that would help.
There being any sort of payoff to Night Elves. Their big moment is Night Warrior Tyrande and Malfurion, two of the Alliance strongest, and a champion, killing a single Val’kyr. Their opponents didn’t stand a chance on the Alliance side of the story. It’s absurd. Even in the new 9.1fight, which I like, Tyrande is pushing out as much of Elunes power as she can and Sylvanas doesn’t seem to be trying.
If the issues of the story were fixed ahead of this cinematic I think the reception could have been different. Besides that “ I serve no one” line. That should have been changed because she’s been reluctantly going along with the jailers plans for awhile now.
They don’t need to spoil the story, but we need their motivations to want to follow these characters. Right now we’re severely lacking that. We all kind of expected a redemption arc but there’s been no work to make one work. It’s undeserved.
Not at all, because I would never have made the mistakes of:
WoD
Legion
BfA
SL
So the Story would be a very different one right now.
I would have ended her story in wrath. When the sword was destroyed all souls should have been freed.
Off with her head - The end
she should marry anduin and have an unhappily ever after
Mortally wounded, Sylvanas staggers through the bamboo forest, finally laying down in the exact spot where she woke up so many seasons ago. As the last of her life fades from her form, she looks up and sees the Maw Walkers flying away having finally unlocked flying in the Shadowlands.
She would be burned to the ground like she did to Darnassus.
Garrosh’s ending would have been against her except him saying:
“&^#%$ the HORDE IS EVERYYTHING !!”
Then queue his ending scene taking them both out…
The end cutscene would be Khadgar waking up back around the time WotLK was still relevant and be like “Whoa, that was a weird dream. i really need to lay off the felweed.”
Oh Sylvie can dominate me if she wanted.
She would have no defeat if I wrote her.
I would’ve have written that the jailer abandons her at the last minute, leaving her powerless against everyone that wants to kill her
But I guess that’s kind of what happened so
Its amazing seeing the hate for Sylvanas today when in fact. When WC3 first dropped and all the way up to WOTLK she was a beloved character with a great story arch.
Now she has become nothing more then a Saturday morning Cartoon villian for players to kill, smh.
What made the Horde awesome and fun to be a part of was because of characters like Sylvanas, Thrall, Cairn and Vol’jin. Now the Horde has no original leaders and the glory they gave to this great faction has been washed away by lame actions of today.
They’ve ruined these great characters and it sucks as a fan to watch it happen.
Its why Warcraft needs a restart.
Exactly and she would remain as the leader of the undead with a goal of trying to find a cure for her people and defending her kingdom against the Alliance.
Where even is khadgar rn
I wouldnt have, because if i was in charge of writing she wouldnt have done the stupid stuff she did to begin with.
Nothing, it was great. I would have liked to see where the Jailor was going though
This is what happens when writers try to go too big. A beloved character ends up twisted into something barely recognizable and the result is a negative reaction from a large part of the fans of the game/story.
It’s so much safer and better to stick to mortal/semi-immortal beings but discuss Gods or deities as if they actually exist. Never actually have the heroes fight God, because then how do you top that other than have them fight God+, and then God++, and so on and so forth until it just gets too big to be believable.
