How to solve public crafting order problem

I really wish more of the “you don’t need max skill in crafting” brigade would acknowledge / admit this more.

The true way to fix the work order system is to nuke the ranks system that blizzard has hammered into the crafting system as an alternative to 'Depth". Other games such as FFXIV had ranks and killed them as they were not worth the hassle.

Removing ranks solves the player psychology issue where if it isn’t max rank it is considered trash. You can still gatekeep the best items using the titan matrices and sparks and the like so people can’t buy mythic raid gear without running mythic raids.

It also reminds people that the work order system exists… but then they actually need to do a much much better job in game of marketing the work order system to players along with it’s strengths and limitations.

People will figure it out once they get the 405 crafting item from killing storm birb.

Exactly. I liked the premise of the profession system in DF but then when the MATS and RANKS of MATS were piling up. People naturally wanting the best thing possible. Not going to lie but it gets a little overwhelming for my brain to process and check off if I have the right points in the right place so that I can use embellishments or something to raise the skill so that a person can get said rank they want or a chance at it. Then I feel bad when it doesn’t do that. I’m gonna send back the commission and an extra few K gold next time it happens or just stop using crafting orders.

Then I realize there is a main spec option that raises said skill that I overlooked but it is locked behind 100 now so I give up. I literally unlearned the profession after, relearned it, realized the points were saved and just logged out and possibly said the f word lol

I think even the ranks of items and ranks of mats would be fine.

Where they went overboard, for me, was the subcomponents. Things like Chilled Runes and Omnium Draconis. And the Feast recipes are just ridiculous.

Connect the AH to the Work Order. That way if someone is missing a mat. They don’t have to write it down and hoof it the AH.

Blizz should delete the system. TBH It is way too convoluted. However, they aren’t gonna to do that because they wasted resources on it like Azerite gear and SL Leggos. The best case for Work Orders is that it will be an expansion feature. In 11.0 it will be back to the AH cancel scanning meta.

Yeah, I deleted 2 alts because of this. Who the heck thought locking in KP, even after unlearning and having to re-level it, was a good idea??? This system is very punishing.

I’ve never had any crafters demand a minimum commission. They’ve always been happy to get 5-10k.

I get the usual ‘‘should of researched’’ or ‘‘its a you problem’’ from smart allecks but yes it’s a punishing system and could of easily been a great thing with a few changes that I’m sure was brought up in BETA.

In less than 30 minutes?

so after you level up they should reduce the work order max to 5 ?

making it region wide would do nothing since you would multiple the number of crafters by an equal number to buyers plus there are people who have multiple accounts and with characters across all servers and you have now made their lives easier.

I had to come on here to answer this post. You either are a slow learner and deleted two characters with the same profession twice or you did something extremely silly. If you screwed up two different profession why didn’t you just switch the professions on the alts and bam you are done.

You get to start fresh on KP if you change professions. Sure you miss out on a few weeks of KP but deleting the character is rather extreme.

the one person at blizzard who realized people would do this to exploit…

When you unlearn a profession, you lose all profession levels and recipes. So to re-level. you have to spend a butt load of gold, and then spend all of the gold again to re-buy the recipes, the likelihood of actual exploitation is really small compared to how annoying it is in reality. The only thing that you don’t lose is your KP choices.

people were doing that several times with the consortium rep just for the rep…

people would have definitely done it to change specializations once others got more lucrative.

That would do the absolute opposite to fixing them, giving us the ability to select min qualities on public orders fixes the system and makes it immediately widely usable.

I’d like to see them remove the RNG from it personally. Let me be either skilled enough or not.

You see orders? Public Orders? You must be the Cole Sear of crafting!!!

I see no problem with people being max skill and being able to see the AH. The few times I see something, I generally ignore them unless they are either worth my time (trying for the proc to learn another codex) or something is provided to make it worth my time.

I just dont understand the professions at all whatsoever so I havent touched them at all yet

Thing is, “if” you take the time to understand the system and how to properly spec, you can craft most things at R3/R5 guaranteed without the proc. In fact, at this point you might want to even look at a resourcefulness/multicraft tool for those items you can guarantee.

Now, like in the case of Primal gems, that does require the artisan mettle for insight which you only get a certain amount each week (along with really good tools, good placement of knowledge points, and a high base skill ). But you also you need alot of mettle for your tools…
