With LookingForGroup becoming a default channel and and everyone rushing new characters to 60, the amount of WTS Boost spam has become unbearable, taking up the vast majority of the chat text. I’ve found two strategies to mitigate this and thought I would share them. You can use either or both.
ONE: QUARANTINE LOOKING FOR GROUP IN ITS OWN CHAT WINDOW
To do this all you have to do is mouse over the top of your chat window until the “General” tab appears, then right-click and “Create New Window” and give it a name. I call mine LFG. Now right-click on the tab again and go to “Settings” and untick LookingForGroup in the General tab, while unticking everything but LookingForGroup in the LFG tab. You can now toggle between the windows by clicking their respective tabs above the chat window.
TWO: CREATE A CUSTOM SPAM FILTER TO REMOVE BOOST SPAM
Install the addon “Global Ignore List and Chat Spam Filter” (I am not affiliated with the addon). To access the settings GUI just open your social window in-game and it will appear on the side. Click the “Spam Filters” tab and then click “Create Filter” and give it a name. I call mine Filter Boosts. Now you need to add the code to the Filter box and click “Save Filter”. This is the code I use (assumes that your LookingForGroup channel is 4):
([contains=wts] or [contains=wtb] or [contains=boost]) and [channel=4]
Enjoy.

Thank you so much. Was tired of seeing the carry spam.

Report anyone trying to sell these runs as spamming and/or cheating.
But advertising in chat is allowed and it’s not cheating

I personally feel that paid boosts violate the EULA. If enough fuss is made, maybe they’ll take care of it.
The report effectively ignores the person advertising without using up an ignore slot.
it would be interesting if youd actually cite a line in the EULA to make you feel that

Global Ignore List gives you infinite ignore slots. Syncs those ignores across your toons + servers. And those ignores stay on there if you uninstall the addon.
Look up the bit in cheating. The language is quite broad and dungeon boosting fits.
All gnomes should be reported, too.

The “ignore” is only part of the point.

also doable if you have “prat” addon for chat formatting, it has custom filters, you can filter all lines with words boost.

Hey, if you want to risk your own account for misusing the report function, you do you. It’s your $15 a month.
But boosts are not going anywhere.
I don’t think there’s much if a risk.
In fact, I get in-game emails all the time thanking me for my reports.
Its obvious why you are playing a pally. keep up the holy crusade.
Actually, the rule is quite well spelled out here:
While it primarily mentions the LFG tool, it does specifically say that, “Selling items and services for gold is allowed but can only be advertised in-game through the Trade chat channel.”
While this doesn’t mention the LFG channel (as it was written for the current client), it does say that Trade chat is the only channel where such advertisements are allowed.
All it takes is a little research.
No real risk in that. That page also specifically states, “To report a player for inappropriate advertisement, use the right-click option. You will not receive a direct response but we take all reports very seriously.”
I actually report and then add them to my Global Ignore list. I also get mails from Blizzard quite often praising me for my reports.
Thanks.

Wow this actually would have been useful, too bad it’s too late and boosting is a thing of the past now. Players grouped with a level 70 are gonna get such a reduction in exp that nobody would pay for a boost so boosting is dead.
Big doubt lmao. I reported someone that was using really bad slurs in open chat and I didn’t get any thing from it and I saw the guy still, next day. Blizzard barely does anything.
…so falsely flag them with reports?
