They donât care about subs anymore, they just care about time played metrics because thatâs what they report to investors now.
Itâs surprising how many of these things are are actually being implemented.
That doesnât mean a game has to be bad though. Bad games donât tend to keep people for long.
I remember putting entire days into the old MMORPG format. EQ 1999 basically took years of my life and I gladly gave them.
Retail lacks the spectacle. That which makes BRs so entertaining is the spectacle. The almost entirely P2P driven experience where things rarely remain the same. Itâs why BGs can be a decade old and still more popular than raids released a few months ago. P2P is everything in this context.
As we saw with warfronts thereâs no legit way to make PvE dynamic and interesting in their current engine. Itâs all scripted and badly in that it doesnât have nearly enough variation. It was all wasted time and effort.
If by vulpera you mean Ogres, then sure Iâd come back. But Iâm not coming back for Blizzards Ewoks.
Nix these two
5 - add high elves as alliance
6 - add vulpera as horde
and just replace it with
- Play as Murlocs for horde and alliance.
if youâre gonna give the alliance number 5
then switch 6 to the sanâlayn and iâm strongly against 5
Those are your opinion and do not agree glad you do not speak for everyone
I like your list, mostly. My own guide would be:
- Big, existential threat. People love those.
- Simplify gear design. Primary and secondary stats are all you need on most gear. Trinkets could have an on-use, shared-CD ability. Maybe one Legion-like legendary.
- Slower and shallower gear acquisition, tied to at least moderately challenging content.
- Less RNG in gear acquisition. Loot boxes are an abomination, and IMO having a choice of six pieces of gear will not really fix this. %chance drops from bosses, crafted BoEs, and gear acquired from vendors with currencies is the better way to go.
- Remove TF/WF altogether. People donât want to get lucky. Because if thereâs one thing we learnt from Legion itâs that it means you can be UN-lucky too, and for surprisingly long periods of time, and that doesnât feel good. Particularly when your guildie got their BiS legendary in the first week of the xpac and a slew of TFs the next week. Itâs always better when players feel more in control of their destiny, particularly when it comes to gearing.
- More player character involvement. This isnât the same as player choice or agency. The main problem with BfAâs story, IMO, is that you often felt like an audience member watching NPCs do the cool things. This is an MMORPG. I want to participate in the cool things.
- Rule of Cool. Particularly in dungeons and raids. Itâs not enough for boss abilities to be challenging to counteract. Bosses and boss abilities, and their environments, have to look cool too. Fights need to be memorable, not just tough.
- Increase profession recipes and make all/most crafted gear BoE.
- If youâre going to have a rep grind, you really need to get something more interesting from those factions than a few recipes/pets/mounts.
- Something more interesting and challenging than WQs going on in zones once youâve completed the main storyline.
hereâs mine:
stop making expansions.
Release BC and WOTLK again.
WoW is a fifteen year old game. For such an ancient (in video game terms) game, it is still going pretty well. I think Blizzard has mostly done a pretty good job. Except for Warlords of Draenor. They made a bit of hash of that expansion.
The funny (or sad) thing is that if the devs actually did thisâŠthey probably could get back up to 12m subs. But for some bizarre reason theyâre not interested in making the game FUN, simply potentially fun. Hence all the pointless stringing along of players to unlock things that you used to get right away (flying, new races, etc). The game is designed solely for the purpose of forcing players to keep paying in order to grind away and unlock things down the lineâŠa line that is constantly moved further and further and never reached.
If this was Reddit, I would buy you a platinum! This right here is why I am staying away from the game.
According to the new expansion, the community seems to really like it. When it comes out, no doubt will people resub and some new people might sub as well.
until you realize how much new content there actually is and they quit again. WOD sounded great and it turned into garbage. BFA sounded greatâŠnext to WOD for worst expansion.
But you donât need to pay. If youâre good with gold you can use wow tokens and Blizz doesnât get anything from you.
Going back? And yet Shadowlands appears to be a reset or undoing of many things.
I think BFA is worse TBH
The actual answer isâŠ
US
We are how WoW can have 12m players again
We are who introduce this game to the younger generation to our kids to our nieces and nephews
We spread the good word of WoW
We bait them in and let them either get hooked because of love or not play because they donât love it
Blizzard has given us a pretty good game regardless
We are how WoW will succeed or fail
Nothing from âyouâ but 25$ from someone else. So instead of getting your 15$ a month they are getting 25$.
