We’re just going to have to agree to disagree then.
To me, to give a Retail example, it’s just as annoying when I get a random guild invite that was typed out than it is when I get one from the addon that spams people without guilds.

Stop with the fearmongering nonsense. Not only is that not possible through an add-on, but the author has specifically stated that automated matchmaking will not be added.
Maybe you would try to make friends or join a guild to avoid this fate.
I will likely already be in a guild and already have friends but I also would like gather resources while I search for a dungeon group. Rather than jumping around in circles in the middle of stormwind wishing I could be doing something else.
One may think that by using this addon to make finding groups easier, people could make even more friends. All of my friends either came from open world RP or people I met in groups not people that whispered me for an invite but it didn’t work out for whatever reason.
Maybe I’m just an optimist though.
If this does end up in the game and people do end up using it, I sincerely hope it does not come at a cost to community feeling of the game. I will be enjoying myself either way, but really do feel like something will be lost if this is popular.
Even after 186 posts, they still don’t know what the add-on does.
You can’t possibly think this would have a negative impact on the community unless you had a fundamental lack of information regarding the add-on’s functionality.
If this add-on has a negative impact on the community, so would spamming “LFG” or whispering “inv” to someone spamming “LFM.”
they showed the automated by him just whispering “inv”, and it was stated before that the way the author explained the add on and how it was different when used.
Why are you so set on defending this add on that makes it so you don’t have to type in /4, /2, /who,/1, or /guild in order to try and set up a group ?
Vanilla never had an auto invite addon as far as I know. Blizzard added their own LFG system that no one used. Are you referring to that?
Due to the plethora of addons, and multiple download and creator sites, I don’t know what classic does and doesn’t have. I’ll look later. I don’t need a UI revamp for a level 5 with 3 skills.
We also don’t know what will work after Tuesday as they may (and I suspect they will) do a hot fix after launch.
After blizzard killed decursive et cetera, then- addon makers (such as whispercast) were rather wary of making anything that could be conceived as related to that process, and many players avoided them, fearing bans.
Most addons of that type, from what I can find, stopped updating and they let die when TBC came out.
To be clear, I don’t care much about this mod specifically. The author went back and removed the auto group function.
Automating addons are looked down on due to the fact they don’t really make the game any better or easier (omg, I totally saved 5 seconds of my life with autosell junk). Too bad that 5 seconds just got wasted picking one’s nose.
The devs were clear about setting a standard of following and creating an authentic experience and avoiding addons and other pitfalls that changed that.
Posters constantly shifting the goalposts or more annoyingly, just making crap up that suits their opinion, doesn’t really make the situation better.
This will have an impact on the community, whether it will be good or bad is yet to be seen.
if spamming LFG was all it did, you wouldn’t need this addon, make a macro.
That’s a different add-on, not the actual ClassicLFG (or is perhaps a different version before the automation was removed). It’s also in retail, as you can tell by the fact the person in the video is a Dark Iron Dwarf.
I won’t be using the add-on. I have a guild.
I just don’t like seeing people lie.
I completely understand the concern, but imo layering and cross realm BGs are going to affect the community way more than this addon. Again, maybe I’m on optimist but I think this addon will actually improve the community considering how cluttered chat is going to be.
can you quote the lie ? or the thing that you misunderstood ?
It did. The fact you don’t know doesn’t change the fact they existed.
Explain how.
The only other thing it does is parse messages.
Should DPS meters be banned, too? Those existed in vanilla, too.
And if someone wants an add-on to spam LFG instead of using a macro, what is the harm? Honestly?
I should clarify. People are either deliberately spreading misinformation about this add-on, or they don’t know anything about it. I don’t like either, and correct people doing either.
The people who have been told how it works yet continue to insist that it does something different are liars.
I did, right before I said this:
Look at the quote above where I said that.
???
That doesn’t explain how it has an impact, only that you’re worried that it will.
i asked for you to quote the lies. Don’t want to do it just say, and so far from what i can see is two different attitudes clashing because of this add-on. With the conveniences this add on gives it can cause more problems than it can solve. you’re saying it’s fear mongering but if so then why do you need the add on ?
the quote I was referring to was this one:
They don’t want that. Making people talk to one another? What do you think this is, vanilla?
Let me just use another layer of automation to take care of that while I nom my hot pocket before it gets cold.
they are here to right the wrongs of the forums, not defend this addon
