How Should they replace resilience in TBC?

If a piece or two of resilience gear wasn’t good for tanking I’d avoid the joke that is WoW pvp.

And yes arena is a joke. Rock, paper, scissors again. People cry that doing static content on repeat is boring while knowing full well they’ll have roll classes and specs to actually compete in arena. Static team comps are boring.

Classic Beta Back to the Battle.net Catalog - Classic TBC Soon?
Blizzard has readded the Classic Beta client to the Battle.net app catalog.
Currently, it has outdated information and is marked as deprecated, but this could mean that Blizzard is preparing to use it for a Classic The Burning Crusade beta testing.
The only information that can be extracted from this right is the background color of the Battle.net app, which is the same dark brown used for the Classic WoW and Classic WoW PTR apps.

Id Link the article but blizzard rules and all.

PVP to get PVP gear good for PVP

PVE to get PVE gear good for PVE

Uh… seems like an ideal situation to me.

Okay.
Now imagine with me, for a moment, a world where PVP gear stat budget is not spent on Resilience. Instead, it has better survivability and other useful stats.
Great, now I can get high end raid gear for grinding BGs! No need to work PVE stuff, anymore! I can just do BGs and be fully geared in (according to this thread, 40 hours) less than a week of dedicated play!

Dude. If you remove resilience, it has to be replaced with other stats. That’s why the first Grand Marshall or High Warlord in Classic had access to gear that was vastly superior to any PVE gear we could get until AQ40 or so. All your “solution” to this non-problem does is ruin the one good thing about resilience: It makes PVP gear better in PVP than PVE gear, without ALSO making PVP gear better for PVE.

If you dislike resilience, retail doesn’t have it. Enjoy that. Don’t ask Blizz to actually ruin TBC for all of us.

Good thing you only need 25 people instead of 40

Resilience was a pvp only stat first introduced in TBC and is widely considered one of the worst choices blizzard ever made.

This is the first time I have ever heard this argument.

I would normally agree, but i recall vividly PVP’ers whining about core abilities and when blizzard made changes to those abilities it impacted PVE hard. At the time i advocated then as i do now that if there is to be changes that PVP’ers (Arena or BG) that they be quarantined to be doing only BG and Arenas and not be allowed to do PVE content such as instances and raids.

PVP in TBC was a mess along with resilience , i cant be the only one who remembers the “Resilience will fix it” meme when even after years of tinkering it never did. Resilience was a g*ddman disaster that never should have been in the game.

He’s not wrong, resilience was a wasted stat.

This is a false statement resilience was never a good thing by any definition, a wasted stat and a waste of time that simply began Blizzards slide in dividing the community. It was a total failure , hence why the removed it

how about no.

That’s one of the best features of TBC. Its also not true. Some trinkets and Weapons from raiding outdo pvp gear. The best combination is still a mix of pvp and pve pieces. Its just that now pure pvp gear typically dumps on pure pve gear.

Ordinarly i would agree,

If…and only if the game was coded that any PVP gear worn in PVE content is scaled to 0 on all stats and vice versa.

Example: You could be wearing Warlords Super Fluffy Regalia or whatever the F its called, but if you enter a Instance or a raids, basically it operates as a greyed out item. No stats, no bonuses no nothing

If you’re going to separate them then do it completely

Resilience sucked the farts out of dead chickens, if it was so hot they would have kept it in the game

Resilience was good. It made pvp gear better for pvp than pve gear while letting pve gear be top dog for pve.

widely considered one of the worst choices ever made? how about you gather some data and come back when you have facts not “I believe this so im going to say the majority also believes this” ya tard.

  1. Doing PVE content for the best weapons for pvp is an barrier to pvp entry might as well remove all legendaries from TBC to nip that in the bud, before it happens. If we’re going by that logic.

  2. On no, you’ll actually have to outplay people to win arena matches instead of just out gearing them. The horror. I’ll have to use cc and class abilities at the right times.

  3. The point of resilience was so that you could PVP just to pvp competitively and it did its job really well. Yes you can’t outscale people in PVE gear for free wins.

  4. Legendaries will be the biggest over lap.

  5. There are people that ONLY arena and don’t want to have to raid for gear for arenas. Which is perfectly acceptable.

If they overhall the entire game you might as well just be playing shadowlands, because its then just a new game that takes place in outlands.

  1. if it wasn’t for the fact they are iconic and I know people would hate that then yes I think warglaves being bis is bad game design from a balance standpoint when it comes to pvp.
  2. you must not be reading any of my post or being quite selective, I want pvp to be skill based. In my ideal world pure pvp gear is still BIS for pvp its just a done in a different way with similar yet more balanced results.
  3. I don’t want to remove the point of resilience. I want it traded out for something that does what it did but better without the drawbacks or painting ourselves into a corner in design.
  4. I’m talking about the idea here that it feels wrong to raid content for months then enter a bg and be better off wearing pvp blues because the design of resilience was so shallow that playing some characters like say healer pve gear was worse than wearing blues again bad design. now the pvp blues should kick pve blues bum but having it beat epics? having how many pieces on your bis set being arbitrary and non conforming when it comes to how many are from pve? those are problems to me.
  5. Yes in fact i would love to do this the issue is not me wanting pve to be required its the fact that resilience is a dumb way to “solve” this problem. Randomly amazing for pve on tanks but useless on everyone else ? why? pve gear good on damage classes but trash on healers again this is not ideal.

Now how do you balance classes with this system this too is a problem say i want to adjust the crit on a talent for rouges but due to the nature of resil vs some classes its not enough and vs others its now too much.

So let me be clear I’m not trying to change the core of how the game feels at all. I am looking at removing an overly simplified solution that caused many issues in favor of something else that ends up with similar but better with balance and design.

You’re not getting any of the changes you want.
