How Should they replace resilience in TBC?

They shouldn’t… because resilience was implemented in tbc

They shouldn’t, for two reasons.

1 - No changes.

2 - Resilience was a great stat and a massive improvement over basically any other PVP gear system WoW has ever had. No, “I PVE’d my way to victory” is not a PVP gear system.

You’re thinking of PvP Power, not Resilience.

Resilience affected PvE, as well. It was how Druids got crit immunity in TBC.

No changes people should be shot out of a cannon, change my mind.

First off no I’m not thinking of pvp power as that wasn’t in TBC. wether it came first in TBC or not is not relevant to if its good or can be improved or not. What Im seeing is lots of support for resilience but no reason given as to why. a few correlation it was best then comments but no one telling me why they think resil is the BEST solution. While lots of people seem to be no changes it doesn’t seem to be based on the idea that it couldn’t be done better. I think it can and in trying to balance all the classes and specs it might be best to fix resil now instead of backing ourselves into a corner and doing things like " resil no longer works in pvp to balance tank play in PVE" which will be the result if we dont implement a better system.

The problem with Resilience and why people did not like it, I thought, was that it arbitrarily increased the length of fights. Which made them boring.

It’s a good thing and needing to farm actual pvp gear, through pvp to compete is GOOD design.

Dragonslayers are mad because they think because they raid once a week they should overpower everyone, part of the reason retail arena sucks these days is all the OP pve trinkets being used in arenas.

You can’t put the burden of proof on us when YOU created the thread, but I’ll play your little game.

Your only argument is that you want to be able to dunk on PvP players without investing any time whatsoever in PvP.

  • PvP starter gear takes very little time investment.
  • Resilience allows to keep a moderate combat pace in PvP without affecting the “pow wow” factor of big crits in PvE.
  • Resilience allows PvE gear to be BIS in PvE, and PvP gear to be somewhat BIS in PvP.
  • In many cases, PvE gear is still strong enough to be BIS in PvP. The opposite is much rarer (a few exceptions, such as feral tanks and honor weapons late in the expansion).
  • Resilience allows for interesting gearing decisions where one can decide how much defensive stats they’re willing to sacrifice for offensive output.

If you’re not willing to spend a few hours gathering your pre-raid BIS, should you automatically have access to raid-level gear just because?
If you’re not willing to spend a few hours gathering your honor gear, should you automatically have access to arena gear just because?

What a tradegy, having to pvp for pvp gear. It would be even crazier if you had to pve for pve gear. tough.

In 2s, 90-95% of games last less than 5 minutes; and 5-10% of games last 20-30 minutes.
In 3s, 99% of games last less than 5 minutes.

Games really only last long if you play certain outlast comps in 2s AND you’re fighting another outlast comp.

If you don’t want to be stuck in a 20+ minute game, simply queue as double dps or play aggressively.

If private servers weren’t playing WLD then they were terrible. RMP is great but WLD farms it in TBC unless you’re a potato…

Not to mention RLP or Shatterplay comps.

RMP wasn’t even considered that “OMG THIS SO OP” comp until S3 + bud. Everything was still fairly new in the arena world in S1 and S2. There wasn’t even any arena guides out that weren’t full of biased and bad info until after S2 my dude…

Lol you’re speaking about TBC in a futuristic tone. Nobody talked like that in S1 and S2 lol

My guy its people like you who give us over nerfed over buffed classes. Rogue damage wasn’t even that high until S3… They need certain pve pieces to do the over exaggerated damage you’re talking about. Rogue was strong in the first 2 seasons because they had crazy control with 1 dps button making it fairly easy to master if you played enough.

This is actually true. Resto druids are literal gods in PVP TBC. They have way to high Hot healing and their cc is extremely hard to deal with.

Again S1-S2, MAYBE S2 dots were half healthing someone in a fear but with full resili thats not happening. SL/SL comps were LONG drawn out games bud. There was no Dot dot fear woot we won game. It was a long game of cc exchaning while you slow wittlee downed the other healers mana from having to deal with all those dots. SL/SL was NOT OP due to having too much damage…

Classic ?? Yea okay… TBC lol no their healing was amazing with the right pieces guy. Go watch old arena videos and tell me their healing was not good.

Anyone that thinks having to PVE to be able to PVP needs to be completely taken out of any PVP discussions. PVP’rs SHOULD NEVER have to raid to gear up for pvp…

Facts. Historically when pvp has been bad according to the majority opinions of pvp’rs then all of wow has suffered. When they finally understand that wow needs healthy pvp systems for wow to progress successfully then we will get a good expansion.

As for now Shadowlands is looking to set a new record of subscription losses unless they release TBC in conjunction to the start of the mass exodus. The prepatch is awful and the beta was even worse.

What they’re doing is NOT listening to player feedback. It’s not just class abilities and janky clunky rotations that they need to fix. The entire core gameplay of retail is trash. Any new player can get on and start pulling 3-4 mobs at any level with ease with NO risk of dying. Retail is a child’s play game. It’s all care bears and fancy colors.

They’re giving everyone a false sense of security in shadowlands. They’re making you think they’re making changes based off player feedback but they’re not. Majority wants TBC-WOTLK game play. They will never admit that retail went in a direction that is a failure. They need to reset at WOTLK. The crazy thing is they could actually scrap retail and start over WITH WOTLK and still be the biggest MMO for years to come.

If they were to redo Resilience (Which I completely support with how lopsided it was in its benefits). I would change it to instead not touch crit chances at all.

“Resilience: Decrease the magnitude of damage or mana taken by players by X%”

Simple change that doesn’t impact the classes any differently regardless of how reliant a class is on critical hits or anything and it makes the PvP gear less viable for PvE tanking gear due to the crit immunity.

To fully do go in on it.

Resilience: "Decreases the magnitude of damage or mana taken from another player and dealt to a non-PvP flagged NPC by X%.

Then you got high end PvP gear will effectively be crap for raiding as well at least for tanking and DPS rolls, not sure how to handle the Healing ones.

But I mean whole point is to outlast your opponents, so if the meta is to have those 20+ minute games then you’re going to have really long, boring slog-fests majority of the time.

Congrats, you just buffed every class that relies on crit to setup kills by giving them 8-10% crit. Rogues will be stronger, mages will be stronger, shadow priests will be stronger, disc priest will be stronger. Every spec that is already weak because they lack the abilities to setup kills will be indirectly nerfed by that change.

You can’t just tweak numbers without understanding what makes or breaks each comp.

Did you quote the wrong person? or are you new to quoting sections?

Resilience was a bandaid to balancing PvP separately–something that Blizzard does now anyway.

Obviously it’s not going to change but as people have pointed out OPs points aren’t really the problem with resilience; however there are valid arguments to why its a crap system.

Everyones going to have a healer impossible to kill in their team, and the game will boil down to who runs out of mana first. Boring.

Sure, sounds like fun.

Personally, I generally prefer not to wish death on people who I disagree with about video games, but you do you.

In 2s, healers with 400+ resilience die all the time to burst.
In 3s, healers run oom within the first 3 minutes anyway.

Drawn out games are really not that common unless you’re actively playing overly defensive (in which case, you’re probably bad anyway).
