And if you actually read the entire thing he wrote instead of just taking things out of context he’s generally discussing game design and he goes on to specify his actual problem which is complete free form spec changing ala D3 or retail, not dual spec.
Dual spec still has constraints, you get two specs with some restrictions on when you can switch. Anything more than that and you’re stuck doing exactly what you do now.
If they did a server refresh I definitely would. Though I love TBC - it’s probably my favourite expansion. So long as they don’t disfigure it too much I’ll continue enjoying it.
If they basically insert WoTLK features into it willy nilly ahead of time I probably will go back to classic, or maybe some other game. But I like TBC as it is.
Not when the meta would enforce having dual spec to maximize your capability.
Look at it this way. You didn’t have to buy flying in wotlk, you could just have people summon you to places you would need flying to get to, but you could opt out of getting flying and still do all the content in wotlk. Same thing with dual spec. You can chose not to get it, but your basically shotting yourself in the foot at that point and making yourself rely on others to carry you.
There’s also private servers of tbc with dual spec. You can go there instead of taking away our tbc without dual spec. I’m sure you will enjoy the cash shops and all that stuff they have as well.
Except this is simply false, you just seem to have a poor understanding of how content works, most people do not have a reason to actively switch specs during whatever they’re in.
Just reread what I posted because I didn’t understand how 10 minutes of farming a day could sound like a lot of work, I was in a rush typing it out because work break was ending, just realized I put hours where I meant to put minutes lol. I fixed the post, sorry for the confusion.
If your farming 10 hours a day you will have a lot more than 100g per week lol. And I definatly don’t farm anywhere near that lol.
Not really because there simply isn’t that much optimization you can tweak with dual spec.
In a 5 man, everyone will stay in the same spec the entire time, dual spec doesn’t change that at all. BG’s/Arena you’ll stay in the same spec the entire time, once again dual spec does nothing here. Raids have maybe room for 4-5 people to switch specs based on tank/heal requirements, which are also ironically the roles most likely to want dual spec anyways and leaving the majority of the raid wait for in 1 spec the entire time.
So if the target market has changed, then it should reason that SOME limited changes might be a good idea yes? As much as I enjoyed the EQ and early wow days, things HAVE changed.
Maybe, except I really don’t think there is a target market for a modernised game with old done content. Maybe I’m wrong, but that just sounds boring to me.
Why not play a game with modern MMO features and new content?
For me TBC classic is attractive for nostalgia and I like old school RP. But I’m not that interested in simply getting old bosses down over and over.
Really? Because I can name a few bosses where a tank being able to fully change to a dps would trivialize the fight even more.
For example shade of aran, you now have 2 more dps doing much more damage than the tank speced tanks with dps gear, because now they have dps talents as well. That makes the fight much easier. There are other fights this would do that to as well and it would have a big impact on the meta of what is brought to raid for having dps and healers/tanks switch places based on best option on a boss per boss basis.
