How much fun was the mage tower?

I got it on my main first time it opened up. You can bask in my glory now :innocent:

Anyway, they were tuned to be a real challenge if you had mythic nighthold gear. That was 910 or 915 if memory serves. LFR Antorus dropped 30 ilvls more than that so you can see how gear would make it trivial. I think that’s fine. Everyone gets a good chance at completing it, with the better people getting it way earlier.

Most of the posts on GD are for people who didnt believe blizz when they said “do it now or never. It’s going away in 8.0” and now they want to stomp it as a timewalking event to get the transmog.

Not to mention that half the time the gear that made it “trivial” was a certain legendary, and not necessarily higher ilvl. Guardian druid for instance.

When it first came out, Prot Pally version was next to impossible.
A few nerfs later and better gear made it easier.

Why not? It was probably one of the best highlights of Legion. Imagine if they had spent the time to make another one, a better one in BFA instead of wasting time on stupid crap like Island Expos.

I did it as disc, holy, and shadow, and also as resto on my alt at the time, and it was one of the most rewarding things I have done in WoW. Would love something like that again

I enjoyed it.

It actually forced me to learn a few specs I rarely play.

The mage tower was a ton of fun. I loved it.

The cosmetic rewards were great, it as fun to play some specs that I usually don’t focus on.

I hope the devs do something similar eventually. The Visions are not bad as a solo pve challenge. Not as much variety, but still fun.

Overrated. Hard to care that much when a cosmetic is the only reward.

No.

There is a targeting reticle that shows EXACTLY where your HL is going to land.

It just flat-out didn’t work at least half of the time.

Yes. I know. I too am a Warrior and I did complete all the Warrior challenges. I’m telling you that sometimes when you get knocked off, you go so fast that the time it takes to register the mouse click isn’t fast enough to keep up with the pace at which you are flying back. Thus telling you “No Path Available” or “Out of range”

It’s the same reason why you sometimes can’t jump somewhere when your reticle is over it.

Easily one of my favorite things about Legion. My druid is never without his roid-bear form.

Cosmetic rewards last forever. Gear upgrades last one patch.

I’ll have my favorite Artifact appearances until I stop playing WOW while all the gear I got in Antorus is dust.

Mage Tower was not necessarily fun, but a worthwhile challenge that produced a worthwhile reward.

It was relatively balanced. Tanks, Healers, and DPS had different challenges. And there were different DPS Challenges. They gave neat weapon rewards.

I never sat down for a butt load of attempts and thought: “WOOOO AMG FUN TIME!”

It was like, taking a deep breath, and going in, pretty sure I would be failing, and hoping I learned for the next time.

The Affliction Mage Tower Challenge was made easier with the Legendary-Corruption-Slow-Ring. But the Moonkin one was the same scenario, and I did it as a Moonkin, too.

I have the Pally Tank appearance, the Resto/Moonkin/Bear appearances, and the Affliction appearance.

Those are the ones I really aimed for.

The inability to use HL in certain places has absolutely nothing to do with latency or timing, and everything to do with pathing. You just can’t HL some places.

But if you’re a on FLAT SURFACE (the encounter was completely flat), and you get knocked back… if the reticle is on the ground, you can leap there. End of story.

Are you a mouse-clicker or something? The instant you get hit (or even sometimes before, since you KNEW it was coming), you can hit your HL key, click the mouse to jump … only to get a fail. If you’re using a keybind and are a halfway decent player, that reaction is near-instantaneous.

Otherwise, why did it work SOMETIMES and not others, all other conditions being equal?

It just bugged out. I managed to get through it. I still gave the Mage Tower a passing grade despite its flaws, why are you trying to vehemently to defend something that was broken? Just admit it, it was broken.

One of the best pieces of content in the past few years.

anyone know what addons is used in this video to show the spells and abilities timers? asking for a friend >->

One of the best things ever added.

Id wait with anticipation for my chances at getting the artifact appearances throughout the week. The limited availability was quite annoyign and made me lose some sleep.

But that feeling of exultation of finally killing Kruul or the Twins was amazing. So many deaths, so many promising start outs and then that final attempt.

Gods I was strong then, Ned.

Anyway, got the 24/36 and then left 6 months before bfa released to checkout Gw2 and Eso. Came back halfway through BFA. So glad I waited cause this game has been a sh!tshow but at the same time I wish I had stuck around got the remaining appearances just so I could have done more mage tower.

It was alright. Not the end all be all of content.

Honestly I like visions better.

This is evidently weakaura.

Yeah thank you captain obvious I know that. I’m trying to explain to you how this works. You get knocked back at such speed that you don’t have enough time to jump. It’s why a lot of people bring goblin gliders to Kruul. It’s so they can slow themselves and jump back onto the platform.

I am a keybinding player. Every single button I have is bound. And yes, you will actually succeed in getting back on the platform. It happened many times during my fight with Kruul. But sometimes it didn’t when I was propelled way too fast. The same thing happens on Aggramar’s fight. Sometimes you can get back on the platform, sometimes if you’re a second off you fail. That’s why I’m trying to explain to you.

Because sometimes you weren’t ready for it and were just too late. That’s my point.

I’m not vehemently defending it. I’m just telling you that fight wasn’t bugged or broken like you think it was. You’re just frustrated that I just don’t agree with you.
