How much are the Kaldorei and Horde in the same boat?

I think there will be some future quests on Horde side to free Night Elf souls from the Maw. Just a hunch.

There’s will still be a Horde and Alliance. So it will be kinda like Legion where we are all working together then? I guess we’ll all get those quests. Which is great because the Maw sounds terrible and only people like Arthas deserve to go there.

yeah like legion

You … haven’t been reading this forum very long, have you? More than one person has proposed exactly that. And said Horde players should be happy to do it, too.

You’re right. Regardless the Horde as an entity can still be punished without sacrificing the agency or personal will of a player. See: Garrosh.

There could still be some Horde unique quests or perhaps the text will be different for a Horde character. Stuff like that still happened in Legion.

No, this is the canon thing Tyrande was doing btw.

If you listen to her dialogue through several of the WCs, as well as talking to her outside of the City, it is very apparent that Tyrande is in Surumar exclusively in service to battling the Legion. She seems to hold nothing but contempt for these “Mana Addicts on the Threshold of the City of Her Birth”. Her trust issues may be justified from her perspective, but that does not automatically equate to the NBs having to put up with that mistrust. Especially when you remember that the NEs had a standing execution order on Elves practicing the Arcane up until Cata.

As for Liadrin, she makes it very apparent that she is there for the NBs first. She understands more than anyone the horrors of going through extreme mana withdrawel, as well as what it feels like to have a beloved leader betray your people to the forces of the Fel. Rommath is just there geeking out at the prospect of getting to talk Arcane shop with a living relic of the very civilization that the BEs designed their own to emulate. Hell, the only bit of dialogue Liadrin even really has on Argus is her setting the foundation for NB recruitment.

What exactly do you want the horde to do? Fight off an unforgiving alliance, do good deeds for forgiveness, or expect the horde and alliance to ignore the genocide forever?

Heck if I know. There seem to be no good options whatsoever. That still doesn’t mean asking the players to go “questing for atonement” is a good idea.

Which is why it makes sense for them to get along, for sure. What doesn’t make sense, however, is how a racial leader (Thalyssra) goes from working beside a group of people who helped them (the Night Elves), regardless of their dislike or distrust - and actively aids in massacring them and waging a bloody and awful war.

Yeah, there’s tension - but it also felt incredibly shoehorned that the Nightborne would get heavily involved with the Horde in the first place, and even less believable that they’d stick around after Teldrassil.

Don’t bet on it…you really think Blizzard is going to miss out on an opportunity to wage war in the Lands of the Dead?

I’m very sure we will have at least one proper PVP Battleground, probably 3 or 4, one for each region, in the Shadowlands.

i doubt they are going to make a new bg lol, let alone 3 or 4

They already said they aren’t gonna focus on it story wise.

The vast bulk of the battlegrounds, not to mention the Island Expeditions have had pratically no story development whatsoever.

And yet Thalyssra was the one convincing Lor’themar to work with the Alliance in Nazjatar by telling him how great it was that the Alliance and Horde worked together to liberate Suramar.

That just proves that Thalyssra is able to grasp simple strategy and realize that if the Alliance and Horde are both weaker than Azshara, then maybe they can beat her if they combine forces. Tyrande is also no where to be seen in Nazjatar.

Convenient that Thalyssra will judge the entire Alliance as “walled off” and “cloistered” when the Horde needs an allied race, but then Thalyssra will cozy up to Jaina when the Horde needs the Alliance’s help again.

yes, because Thalyssra is the only character who does that :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

As a note, the Nightborne and Highmountain officially join the Horde prior to the War of Thornes. Blizzard also went out of its way to ensure that representatives from either race were not present in the battle. It is also implied that the only Horde that actually knew what was awaiting them in Teldrassil was Sylvanas herself. As shallow an excuse as it is, even Saurfang initially believed the decision to burn the tree was prompted by Summermoon telling Sylvie the NEs had no intention of surrendering; and what was awaiting the Horde in Teld was more red team meatgrinder.

However, the issues with the NBs is shared with all the reps of the Horde that should have turned against Sylvie after Teld; if only on principle. Its in no way exclusive to them. They simply weren’t allowed to, because it would have been inconvenient for the story Blizzard wished to tell if they had. This is exactly the reason that Blizzard did not have Horde characters even mention the genocide of the NEs for nearly all of BfA. Its not that they didn’t care, its that it would have been inconvenient if they did care. Teldrassil was the Horde’s Vindecaar in this expansion. Something ignored because it was inconvenient to write around.

As for your other point. No, I totally understand why the NBs joined the Horde. They wanted to become a part of a world they knew nothing about, and the BEs gave them an opening to do so on a global stage; by joining one of the worlds 2 superpowers. There was no impetus for them to remain neutral beyond simply remaining convenient for the Alliance playerbase. The major issue is when they joined, not if they joined … and what Horde leader they joined under. Had it been Vol’jin instead of Sylvie, quite frankly there isn’t a single excuse you could have made to convince me that they wouldn’t have joined the Horde.
