How many of you will actually stop playing retail WoW?

Depends on how the story unfolds.

If Sylvanas is killed, I’ll just RP that I died defending her. and thus, stop playing the game.
My character’s arc will be complete

I won’t know until I try it. A part of me really wants to come back but if my friends stay on Retail do I risk abandoning them and making new friends?

Already stopped.

I’m gonna play Classic part time, but it also depends what I do with my current Mythic raiding guild from now till when Classic releases.

I might. I’ve really been bummed out by the Retail’s content and the plot as of late. If Classic ends up being as good as I think it will be and it has a decent enough rp community then I’ll switch over.

I stopped playing Retail in Dec. because it is a bad expansion. Legion was unplayable and I quit 3 weeks after launch so I have been playing other MMO’s for the last 3 years mostly. I have been waiting for the return of real WoW. So I am super hyped about being able to play Classic since it was where MMO’s all started.

For me the last great WoW expansion was WotLK. They should of stopped there so after Classic dominates the Subs I hope they realize where they have gone so incredibly wrong with their last expansions. The Devs are so out of touch with what gamers want. We want a great MMO like Classic to play.

BFA is dead already and Classic will get 5 times the Subs and then Blizzard will realize that they need to make games differently in the future. Classic going to dominate gaming this year. Easy 10 mil + subs.

There are many people like me who will never touch retail.

Just to clarify, I see some people saying that you can or can’t post without a subscription, but it really depends.

I’m not subbed since last year and I can post here on Classic forums but I can’t post anything on General Discussion for example.

I stopped playing retail before 8.1, BFA was so boring.

so i started at vanilla launch. i quit during wrath. The game became to accessible, and inclusive. it bothered me that someone who put in no effort could gear out and participate in end game content. heirlooms, well-fair epics, and make up dungeon , the store , and dungeon finder simply took the challenge out of the game and made it pointless and boring. not to be hyperbolic but i find retail just stupid

I stopped years ago.

I dabbled a bit in WoD and legion but the last time i played anything resembling “seriously” was Pandaria, and even that took awhile to get into.

i was very put out after backsliding on their Cata promises about heroics, especially after it was originally everything they said it’d be. It just sucked the last bit of enthusiasm I had away.

I haven’t really played much of BfA since like Dec. Resubbed yesterday because I was feeling nostalgic and just went and flew around some old zones for an hour and logged off. I’ll be sticking to classic only for the time being though. I just haven’t been able to get into BfA at all.

Me and Friends haven’t played live since around the few weeks of MoP launch. And we all waiting for CLASSIC :heart_eyes::heart_eyes:

I think in North America especially I can see us here playing classic more than retail honestly followed by Europe.
Let’s face it China market is keeping retail going at this point in subs.
I think it they left $14.99 sub price for retail and later on just have a separate sub price just for classic say like $8.99 makes me wonder how that would pan out as I would for sure just pay for classic. Activision Is not doing great in pc world currently I know retail still has a lot of subs even for a pc game in general but I could see them absorbing blizzard and they brand going away and moving forward they just do console and handled units. So I think classic needs to work for blizz honestly at this point. Every one says they are doing classic as the needs on private servers. But really they were not going to do that before spit the player base is the real reason but now as retail subs are so much worse this is like well what do we have to lose at this point. But anyways I hope classic does well I will enjoy it very much and I hope it helps blizzard in more ways than we all know about.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend even though almost over.

I definitely won’t be, I still enjoy the current game. I’ll just hop between the two. Hopefully I have the time for both.

I disagree. I hated Outland with a white-hot burning passion and being forced to progress into that and the gameplay changes TBC introduced would make me jump off the slippery slope.

quite honestly, i prefer the older style of MMORPG loot system and rpg progression over the MMO ARPG style of loot systems that have more in common with diablo 3 than EQ.

I don’t hate current WoW though, and i have a ton of friends who play still and i think there’s room for both to co exist and be successful.

 The Last expansion I loved was Wrath of the Lich King. Played it for 4 years. It was trulyyyyy fun mark my words. Also the pvp in Wrath OTLK is freaking dope

Like a lot of folks; I’m here because of classic WoW.

I mainlined WoW extensively through TBC (if I ever see another red orc it’ll be too soon). But even then my guild, comprised mostly of folks I work with, noticed the game going into decline.

Each expansion since then I’ve subbed for a couple of months, wrung as much out of the story as possible, and then gone back into hibernation until the next expansion. Rinse. Repeat.

My biggest gripe was that Warcraft went from being an MMORPG, to just an MMO… It stopped being a world and became a theme park…

We stopped being random characters inhabiting Azeroth and dealing with the often crazy whims of our leaders, and slowly started to become the savior of Azeroth. Each of us… An entire world of superheroes saving the planet from the next big-bad to get its panties in a twist…

Bleh.

And then the game stopped being a high-fantasy setting and started to skew towards intergalactic warpdrive aliens and space laser robots… I literally drove a mech around on another planet and called down orbital strikes on things in Legion for pete’s sake!

Then we killed a couple of gods and the planet got stabbed with a moon-sized letter opener … and zip boom bang we’re back to masted ships and catapults while we try to brain each other because the Horde has yet another crap leader…

lolwut?

So, yeah - bring on Classic WoW and lets get back to an MMO RPG.

retail is just a dogshxt game, haven’t been subbed since the beginning of legion and will only resub when classic comes out in august.
