How long will retailers last on classic?

i dont feel hated. and you aren’t hated by me and i’m sure there are others who dont hate ya. people are just bored and anxious for classic and making up stuff to argue about.

Because they don’t want new people in that community. They want the same 10k people that hop from fresh private server to the next fresh private server to be the only ones they interact with.

WELL that isn’t going to happen. all us retailers who are looking forward to classic, will be hopping right next to 'em.

The other (personally estimated) 490,000 people will disabuse them of that notion pretty quickly.

And they can stay in General Discussion.

extra credit for using disabuse in a sentence!

Because all retailers have heard from the Classic community since its inception is how bad they are for liking the game changes, how they’re carebears and lazy because they like the changes, how they could never hack it in Vanilla (even though many of us did), and on and on…

And you wonder why “retailers” have been hostile to the classic community? You get what you give.

personally never played on a private server. i just want a nice community like the one i found in the demo  everyone was so nice, if i found a chest id loot it, and share with anyone around me the loot found within. usually only holding onto one item i found like a HP potion, helping others with quests or killing a mob on them. i look at it this way idc what your prior experience is. not everyone is gonna be from vanilla, retail, or private servers but we are gonna be sharing this experience and i dont wanna see a repeat of the way people treat one another in retail… so much salt and so much hostility. sure i like salt occasionally but i wanna have fun and enjoy classic just as much as anyone else that intends on playing classic.

Yeah, I think a large part of the “retailer” hate, and even the attention, is caused by people calling the game format they enjoy “carebear” or “easy mode”.

They are bad for liking them… They ruined the game. And even if you can’t admit that, you have to admit that they radically changed the game…but we’re at semantics at that point anyway.

i admit, i love flying and pet battles. i recognize lfd and lfr ruined the game along with heirlooms. and i’m gonna enjoy old school wow.

Most of the quests just required you to venture out in the world or group up. Plus if you’re taking care of your professions you’ll find yourself out and about grinding enough that you’ll get a few levels.

Its this type of attitude that will make Classic far less successful than it otherwise could have been.

No.

I can only speak for myself, but It’s not that I don’t want new members of the Classic community. It’s that I want those new members to appreciate Classic for what it is.

I would rather not be surrounded by convenience driven people that see all those other players in an MMO as nothing but obstacles in their way and that want the most convenient Classic they can get. I do not want to be surrounded by people trying to change Classic into what they want it to be.

So you’ll drive away the numbers required to make Classic convince Blizzard that its a better game model?

as much as i loved flying when it came out i can see the detriment it brought world pvp and to the game in general. i think flight was done best in BC and Wrath, like example. in BC when you got flight, new areas were unlocked in the already existing zones. like the skettis dailies. or netherdrake dailies ( if you had the epic flight) now days flights just kinda thrown in whenever. i see so much missed optritunity with the expansions since that havent really had areas that were pre existing for flight. they just ad a new island. or zone where ever it suits them, I think it would be cool if they had used those GIANT mountains in bfa as new areas with a hidden quest or similar again to skettis dailies… we dont need new places to go we just need to optimize the places we already have… sure the whole 8.2 patch will be interesting to see, mechagon and what ever the naga island in water place is called… but i feel like its wasted effort to do that when they could have done what i said prior and focused on the next expansion more so than basically sticking in a mini expansion in the middle of an expansion. i dunno just my opinion i suppose.

You arent wrong. But the early 30s around 33 is when you get that real first taste. When you are sent to Thousand Needles at the racetrack and have to do all those low drop rate quests for the Turtle Shells, and the Scorpid Venom and the 3/4 different basilisk types with the cc stuns/fears for your pet and whatnot. Or you are in Desolace walking 10 miles to get the Flightpoint for the zone and an additional 2 miles of walking per quest. Its at that point that it really slows down for the first time.

I expect a lot of the more modern recent players to hit that slog and drop the game quick. There won’t be any shortcuts or anything to speed past it. And 45-55 is even that must worse really. Some will enjoy it and stick around for sure. But man, that doesn’t jive well with the way most games are made today.

i always liked that area, that and the tanaris and un’goro quest chains. not a big fan of silithus quests though. bugs…shudder.

Every one of you with a subscription to WoW is retail.

And you’re here hating on them.

Did it ever occur to you guys that you should be hoping that people playing WoW today really get into classic? Do you want the developers releasing more xpacs like BFA and moving further away from what made WoW great, or would you like to see them maybe start putting xpacs out that move the game back towards its roots.

Because acting like a bunch of gatekeeping nerds isn’t going to help anything.

See above for confirmation of our point.
