I say 90% of retailers will quit before level 10. They are not used to random mobs actually being deadly and not being able to chain pull and aoe down everything from level 1.
Most will quit whenever they go to kill trolls in Dun Morogh, and then resurrect at the starting spirit healer.
Many times.
I think they will quit for patch releases and return when they are bored of retail
Once they hit STV…
This thread + the thread about Classic surpassing retail =
I’d say the 30s. From what I remember there was a real lack of quests 30-40ish.
LOL they won’t even make it to STV
As much as some people here have a hard on for hating on BfA players, my guess is actually that most will quit because they don’t like how slow it is rather than because they simply can’t adjust.
BfA is an absolute joke, but it’s not like Vanilla WoW is the pinnacle of hardcore gaming either.
I’ve played BfA, and I’ve also played games significantly more difficult than Vanilla WoW(I’ve also played Vanilla WoW). It’s not like BfA players only play that one game, or only play games that easy.
I’m going to go the other way. I think humans naturally want to be challenged and just don’t know it. I think self pride will drive them to stick it out because they don’t want to be the loser who couldn’t hack it. I think you’ll see retailers finally “get what it’s all about” and potentially decide they like Classic more.
I actually think retail players will dig classic. For many it will be a pleasant surprise.
If you’re talking about the ones in the cave, definitely.
I remember getting killed and wondering where I was.
“Holy crap. This is Anvilmar! WTF?!”
Classic will surpass retail with old players coming back.
How many retailers will fall in love with the game and become valuable members of your guild? I hope lots.
So I know that this is a super crazy concept, but it’s possible to like BOTH ways of playing.
Math does not compute.
I hated when you’re near the edge of a zone and die, so you get sent to the “nearest” spirit healer… in the next zone over… across a mountain range. Thanks game…
I think it will depend on why the person who enjoys playing Retail currently wants to step into WOW Classic.
Some love WOW, have always loved WOW, and will play WOW Classic because they enjoyed that and are well aware of the differences. They’re most likely to stick around, even if choosing between the two games will decrease their total time investment, though some will decide they prefer Retail and only play Classic on rare occasions.
Some will try it just to prove they don’t like it, that it was bad, that it is just nostalgia and rose-colored glasses - because if that’s how they feel, it must be how everyone feels. These one will quit as soon as they’ve complained enough to feel they’ve made their point.
Some will try it because they missed out. Maybe they started Cata or later and genuinely have no reference for what it was like. Maybe they started in TBC or Wrath, and remember it after multiple nerfs and talent improvements. This will split pretty evenly, with the ones who feel a bit in awe of what the original was like and those who find they really prefer how it is now.
I have to say that the arrogance of people like you thinking you’re something special, and the condescending attitude towards “retailers”, is getting really old.
I can see this happening as well. How many retailers will be afraid of being that guy that couldn’t handle the “easier game”? Then because they force themselves to stick with it will end up falling in love with it.
This thread would be less confusing if OP said “retail players” instead of “retailers”.
There is already a definition of “retailers” and it doesn’t refer to players who only play retail WoW.
