How is the RP

been thinking about swapping to Horde RP since most of my old friends have retired. Was just curious to how the H-Rp is on the server these days. Also how is the Content are their good chill casual M+/raid guilds out there. please don’t be too brutal on me lol.

Lately, I’ve moved towards just having more options. Roll or move a character to MG - Alliance and keep one or two on WRA - Horde. If you are new to WoW or have not played in several or more years, Balmung on FFXIV will be the best option for the high fantasy theme. FFXIV and WoW largely share the same community.

Horde RP is pretty good! You can find walk up in Orgrimmar and also SMC. There are events weekly and lots of active guilds, as well as a lot of people who do content and crafting. I recommend rolling an alt to have a look around.

You’re also welcome to join the WrA-RP Discord to meet some of the RP community:

In addition to the above! We have a lot of stuff going on in Undermine, and it’s been really popping off!

It’s been almost nightly, but even outside of that, there’s something for just about everyone, and also very active!

It’s fine, but there’s a bit of a warm spot over by the deep end.

WrA has a large and varied Discord ecosystem beyond what’s been mentioned. It’s a great way to find a niche of like-minded people to hang with. This is not a complete list but these spaces are a good place to get started and find communities:

Wyrmrest Community Project (WCP) Discord / https://discord.gg/7PY25buzpK
Founded 2021 with the intent to help networking WrA roleplayers together, advertise server events, collaborate on stories, workshopping characters, joining/recruiting for guilds, chatting Lore, sharing art (no AI), and general OOC bonding, it’s a great place to get started.

(For transparency, I’m one of the staff members. )

WrA Alliance Guild Faire — April 26, 2025 @ 5 - 7 PM ST https://discord.gg/eDFFyShg
This is more an event than community server but it’s definitely a focal point to consider. The next AGF is later this April!

(For transparency, I help run the Alliance Guild Faire. )

Horde Guild Faire 2025 https://discord.gg/dW6nrEKT7s
Similar to the above, here is the Horde counterpart. The next HGF is also later this April.

There are other community Discords I’m in but because they haven’t been publicly advertised as of lately, I’m unsure of my place to post them here. But a lot of them also cross-advertise in other areas so hopefully these are a good place for you to start.

If you have any questions, I’m Ari (Ariclaresta) on Discord. Welcome to WrA!

Where do people hang in Undermine?

Usually the Diamond Lounge, but other places too! We are currently having a huge fight night tonight. It’s going to be going on for a while, so feel free to come by and watch!

I am already a pumpkin, but I will have to check in sometime. I looooove Undermine.

The Diamond Lounge is pretty awesome. So is the Goblin community! Very welcoming and friendly. Lots of events. I highly recommend <3

RP experience is so individualistic, it is near impossible to give an exact answer. Lets break it down to four options based on player type.

  1. If you prefer walk-ups, slice of life sort of RP involving one on one, small groups. Also, don’t really want the hassle of dealing with multiple Discord servers, MG - Alliance is likely to be a better option.
  2. If very large gatherings, scheduled events, more regimented rules, Discord often required, WRA - Horde is probably the better option.
  3. Now for the best! Have two main characters, one on MG and other on WRA. If you don’t like what you see, just hang up and switch over. Over time, you will see yourself spending more time on one or the other. Personally speaking, I actually find myself now spending 75% on MG Alliance and 25% on WRA. I keep a four character warband running two pairs for RP thus giving more variety.

Finally, after giving it, lets say, three months and you are not digging it or maybe just finding it difficult to fit in the WoW RP community, consider rolling on Balmung, FFXIV. Final Fantasy XIV has a nicer cosmetic system, lots of walk-ups, etc…

How is the RP

They have taken the bridge and the Second Hall. We have barred the gates but cannot hold them for long. The ground shakes…drums, drums in the deep.

We cannot get out.

The shadow moves in the dark.

We cannot get out.

Dont believe any of the “HORDE WRA ALLIANCE MG” bs. Rp on the server that has a community you like, with whatever faction or race you enjoy most, and we will help you find the rp there <3

Seriously. I am so tired of this.

It’s been seeing a resurgence again, sadly.

There are active Alliance RPers on WrA. They just don’t camp Stormwind (although that may be changing soon!).

The fact that the Warcraft player base choose 2 servers to be the last for RP is a bit strange. Traditionally, the player base will choose ahead of time which server will be for RP and stick with it; this applies prior to a game launch. Over the last decade, RP has been declining considerably and the split server WRA / MG happened more by accident. When I started playing in 2009, there were a dozen active RP servers. My first one was Feathermoon…then everyone left during Cata. I migrated to WRA and now starting to pull characters over to MG. WRA still has 3 Horde characters though my other pair of toons on WRA are not played often with one having not been logged in since 2012. My theory is characters are now just getting shuffled between WRA and MG thus causing the factions to be split.

I didn’t read it in time, but I’m giving you an upvote anyway cause I’d like to think I know what it probably said.

I try to emphasize time zones. I originally played on MG but moved to WRA because guilds and players played around times more friendly to my schedule. Then moved back to MG because my WRA friends moved there but now I’m back on WRA because I like WRA more and cross server guilds means I can still play with my friends.

WRA isn’t the same as it used to be but it still has an active community.

I will be realistic and say, if you are someone that thrives on walk-up RP as your primary source of RP and play around midwest/eastern peak hours and prefer Alliance, Moon Guard is probably going to be a better option.

If you prefer Alliance or Horde but on Pacific/Mountain Time, WRA might be a better option but WRA thrives with active moving hubs and community events that you’ll need to track down (there are plenty of resources). Folks like to RP in new active content vs the same capitol city over and over. I know a lot of folks are in Hallowfall and Undermine right now for example. Current Blizz has been adding more RP friendly accommodations in new content these days. Also never forget, Duskwood has a pretty committed community of individuals.

Also, y’all forget, quieter SW means more opportunity to RP in places that would normally be “claimed” on Moon Guard. I know there’s some contention (drama lol) over some spaces in Stormwind on Moon Guard that you don’t have to worry about on WRA. It’s literally free real estate.

Also plugging our guild! Vigilants of Tyr does do casual chill M+/raid content! We are mostly Alliance players and are a RP guild first. However, Horde characters are totally welcome. Even if we aren’t the guild for you, you’re welcome to join discord and just hang out with us. We’re happy to have folks to chit chat and play other games with.

Below is our guild post with more details.
