I still laugh about back when blizz first gave the healing debuff on the 3.5s cast aimed shot that reset your swing timer and were like “Why are you complaining?! We gave you the best pvp debuff!”
Everything about hunter was clunky for a loooong time.
Absolutely. For me, it was the Vael fight in BWL that really highlighted how Hunters inherit the clunkiness of being a ranged/caster, and the clunkiness of being a physical dps, but without inheriting the benefits of either. You didn’t get to spam your damaging abilities like Rogues/Warriors, you had to deal with pushback like a caster, and you didn’t get instant cast Aimed/Multi from Burning Adrenaline like a caster.
Another example (I have many) was Ony buff. You didn’t get the 140 AP because that was only for melee, but you also didn’t get a 10% crit buff like the casters, you only get the 5% crit buff. Playing Hunter truly feels like being a second-class citizen.
I am curious as to the original question of this thread. What did private servers get so wrong about MM that made them so good. Or is Classic getting something wrong, we just haven’t figured it out yet (contradictory statement i know “tell me the answer to a question you don’t know the answer to”).
I think private servers had the wrong values for Steady Shot. When I played on Warmane, I remember Steady Shot doing very high damage but its been years since I’ve played Warmane. I was going to look through private server logs, but both of the sites they used have shut down so I haven’t been able to compare them.
But not because they were good, but because you wanted hero.
being the buff B isn’t much of consultation.
Ohh SS was definitely bad. It was so bad that people started using volley for single target. So, they nerfed volley, which was klnda deserved, but they never addressed the underlying issue that SS was trash.
Almost like that would be a perfect place to fix hunters?
According to warcraftlogs right now (all percentiles) MM Hunters and Fury Warriors are neck and neck. I think fury gets better once you get to higher percentiles it because a lot of good players can only paly fury as a dps spec for warriors and as for hunters they are stay survival and not trying out MM. I could be wrong but, looking out the amount of parses for 95th percentile+ there is only 25k logs for MM compared to Furys 195k logs.
The Trap Weaving and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race. They have greatly increased the damage of those of us who weave in “advanced” groups, but they have destabilized society, have made playing hunter unfulfilling, have subjected human beings to indignities, have led to widespread psychological suffering (in the World of Warcraft to physical suffering as well) and have inflicted severe damage on the natural world. The continued development of weaving will worsen the situation. It will certainly subject human beings to greater indignities and inflict greater damage on the natural world, it will probably lead to greater social disruption and psychological suffering, and it may lead to increased physical suffering even in “advanced” groups.
You obviously can’t read warcraft logs so let me put it in for you.
Right now MM and Fury are literally right next to each… Fury has a median of 6316 and MM has a median of 6538 and the only reason Fury looks better on the charts is because of maximum (which is only 184 difference). Once you get to the 99th percentile Fury does pull away but only by a 330 dps difference. MM and Fury are still kinda low currently but, it will change in ICC. You’re just gonna have to deal with playing Survival until you get full P3 bis (maybe?) or when ICC comes out. It’s just the nature of the game.
Come icc about half the bosses will likely be marked as “do not trap weave or you wipe the raid” this effects all 3 hunter specs. Hunters need some attention even just adding trap launcher would help but we have to wait and see.
