How do Retail Players feel about Classic Wrath?

I don’t understand. I get playing the original classic, since that was content that was not available anymore.

You can have a better Burning Crusade and Wrath experience using Chromie time in retail so why play the classic versions?

What do you mean? This scales all heroics, Naxx/Ulduar/ToC/ICC/RS/OS/EOE/VOA to proper scaling for a progressive playthrough?
When did they add that?

I played back then and don’t really have any interest. I played BC and Vanilla classic both for about a week before I stopped logging onto them.

The nostalgia is nice for a few days and then once it fades I’m over it. Played the old expacs non-stop when they were out. I farmed them for years for mogs and mounts afterwards. Just have no interest it doing it all as current content again.

I just want retail WoW to be good.

I’ve played thru them all. I did dub around with Classic for a few hours and it was just how I remembered. I’m glad it is there for people to enjoy.

I’m just here to see what is next, onward and upward as they say.

edit: I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. They should have left the loot lag in the game. How can it be Classic without loot lag?

Actually, you can’t, at least for the reasons I play classic. One of the big peeves I had back in the day is when they simplified things. I had created an arms warrior and having to level up every weapon was something I enjoyed and had planned to max out every weapon spec as I went. I found that engaging and it gave me a feeling of progression.

Chromie time just throws you into the time but with the current talent tree stuff. To me, dungeons are not what I consider fun, especially how they’re played now. So retail gives me a chance (maybe) to finish what I had started.

If that goes away, well. I’ll just delete that toon, play Wrath for the DK starting story which I really miss and hope to enjoy again.

No lfg means no lfme.

Might give it a go, but without LFG I don’t know if I’ll stick.

couldnt care less. im not a big classic player mostly because i find it more grindy then retail and less alt friendly.
but i dont judge those that do. (wish they did that in return instead of crying out retail all day long)
only classic i will 100% play is probably MoP classic if we have that at all

Found memories.

Feel no need to relive them.

Enjoy if you want.

It’s a pointless waste of resources IMO. But I also don’t play classic nor do I have numbers on how many people play. It splits the resources of classic even more and draws away from resources that could be used to fix the core game.

Would be better with transmogs.

Yeahhhh. I don’t think it will happen since it hasn’t even been mentioned, but I play on a 3.3.5 server with Transmog and it’s just an extra layer of activities to do, you can toggle it off if you don’t like seeing people in tmog. Would much appreciate it

Nothing at all, at least not umprompted. When some people ask me if I’m going to play it, I just say no because I played WotLK and I just don’t care about playing it again. Nostalgia is not enough for me.

A toggle like that would be amazing for Classic. I mean, I don’t expect anything like that, but it would greatly enhance my enjoyment of Classic without negatively impacting the purists.

I don’t have nostalgia for wrath. I only have nostalgia for vanilla.

I only did PvP in wrath and I remember the duels were fun. I think the PvP on wrath might actually become more popular than retail

yup. i honestly believe that the only people that jumped at the chance to go back to these “classic” servers are people that missed out on it when current. these people didnt start playing until wotlk up to some players even around mop and wod.

and now because on retail they are missing so much pet, mount, title, toy and achievement wise that they think if they go back to these classic servers it will fill their void of being left behind on retail.

and maybe because of this they have some small glimmer of hope that retail will shut down and classic is all there will be and their accounts will look good with all old content rewards attained.

thats my serious thoughts on the whole debatical that is these classic servers. all i know is that blizzard did a great job splitting up the player base and diluting retail to nothing more than a withered husk.

Classic Era was (sort of) novel, exciting, fun, somewhat lasting. Subsequent Classic xpacs will all die down much faster.

For 40 man Naxx, “8 Tanks for Four Horseman”, yes that was one of the largest appeals of Classic. I didn’t get to experience it as a teen and it was awesome to experience what I didn’t when younger.

But outside of Naxx, this is straight up a repeat of stuff I have played before. I’ve played since Vanilla. I’ve played Wrath. I’ve played Wrath PServers for over 5 years now. Wrath is genuinely an extremely fun expansion, fun enough for multiple servers to maintain 10k concurrent players, and most Wrath servers can even accomplish keeping a playbase by sitting in the last patch indefinitely. That’s how fun wrath is.

It’s also alt-friendly as hell and the PvP is only surpassed by MoP PvP. Keeps people around

I used to collect achievs/pets/mounts in WoW from mainly Cata through WoD. Tbh the reason I haven’t returned to retail since BFA isn’t because I’m “So far behind and missing stuff”, I just genuinely don’t think it’s for me anymore.

I don’t think this thought has crossed my mind even for a second. I really do think you misunderstand why people play Classic
It isn’t about wanting retail dead or something, it’s about wanting to experience what I did when I was younger with me being better at the game now. That’s the primary driving force.
The other one is that these iterations of WoW work very well with our friend group. The leveling experience in Vanilla with our friend group was so fantastic that we did it multiple times, then we did it again in SoM trying the Ironman Mode. We’re doing it again for the next SoM because we all had a blast.

Anyways, this isn’t some spiteful attack at Retail by preferring Classic. I just legit really enjoy it, I think you just misunderstand where the appeal is for others

I was planning on playing Wrath classic until they said no dungeon finder.

Leveling via questing as Holy (because I couldn’t afford duel spec until 77) and not being taken for stuff as a BM hunter because it was MM or Bust makes the lack of dungeon finder a big fat No Thanks for me.

I had my fun in Classic vanilla the first go-around before Classic TBC, and although I adore WotLK, I don’t think I’ll be pulling Sandy (my Classic rogue) out of retirement to play it.

(Especially so if spacegoat rogues happen around the same time on retail. Alliance for 15 years… may the fennec bait curse be broken!)

Been there, done it, don’t need to see it again.
