It’s fun in its own way.
It’s a different game.

I’ll jump in just for the DK.
Dabbled in Classic Vanilla and Classic BC, enjoyed both. Whenever my sub is active again (taking another long hiatus after my current sub is up) i’ll happily dabble with Classic WotLK.
I’m glad it exists but I’m not likely to play it.
You got a free mount in Storm Peaks…
I’ll slowly level through it im sure. Maybe try a pug of two if the classic community has not killed the game by the time I reach max level.
Only think about it when I see topics on it. I tried Classic when it was released. Just wasn’t the same as 2004-2005. Probably because it is different people.
I’d try Classic: Wrath but it will take me months of playing just to get to that level. Not worth it. Especially if I have to go through BC again.
Might mess with it.
Most likely will get bored and come back to retail . . . or play another game. Not sure why I even have a sub at the moment, not really playing until DF.
I was hyped for BC, but WotLK is not my favorite expansion. I still want achievements and the dungeon finder implemented. Too few horde on my server.
Don’t know what “massive inflation/GDKP/bot” means?
I loved the initial storyline of Wrath and still have my DK from that time as one of my favorite toons. I’m looking to play it again as I really loved the intro story for DKs.
Given the boring drought of retail, really looking forward for a change of pace and something actually engaging. Never did the dungeons of Wrath, never was interested in them, not sure if I’d start now. Maybe, since I can go on retail with an overpowered toon and learn what the dungeon layout is, what the bosses are at my own pace so I can have a clue when doing it at level.
On Classic, the economy is incredibly inflated due to years of bots pumping raw gold into it through bots. The bots are selling gold, as Classic WoW is one of the most profitable under-the-table MMOs in the world due to not having a WoW Token or equivelent.
The gold gets used in GDKPs, which are gold bidding raids where people bid for the drops and the gold gets evenly split among all raiders. This is very good on paper, but it creates a P2W scenario where people are spending thousands of dollars on gold, encouraging more botting to supply it, and further inflating the economy, etc
Most of them are very fun. Oculus/Culling of Stratholme are known for not being liked much, but the rest are pretty fun. The really good ones are released in the ICC patch, Forge of Souls, Pit of Sauron and Halls of Reflection.
I will warn you though, Wrath Heroics are incredibly easy. Like. take your expectations of what you think “Incredibly easy” means make it easier. They’re more of something you terrorize each week with your shiny to raid gear to see how quickly you can do them.
I didn’t care for the last two but I can’t wait for this. Itlll be nice to since I’m sure we’ll have a long content drought before DF.
I want MoP classic !.
Thank you for explaining. I have a toon on classic, but I’m very low level there and am not in any hurry to level it, enjoying the change of pace.
As for incredibly easy Heroics, well. You’re talking to a person who does not pug, has only been in a handful of dungeons at level, always with someone from my guild to hold my hand/be my security blanket.
The few times I’ve tried on my own, I’ve had bad luck, so I avoid it as I’ve enough aggravation in RL. So really easy might actually help me overcome my phobia so I can actually enjoy an aspect of the game I’ve avoided.
And if they start feeling too easy, well, fine by me, maybe I can get enough confidence to do dungeons in retail.
I loved Wrath but if playing Classic taught me one thing, my memories of previous expansions are often times better than the reality of them. Times have changed and I will stick with my fond memories.
I have extremely fond memories of Wrath, and it actually has replay value to me since that was a completely distinct time for Death Knights - Cata rolled around and made Blood the only tank spec.
However, Classic and BC Classic demonstrated to me that the community is a toxic cesspool of sweat, tryhards, has-beens and overall elitists that optimize the fun out of the game and gatekeep literally everything. The inflation problem is just icing on the cake.
I expect the elitism to get even worse in Wrath Classic because of heroic raiding once Trial and ICC release. Everybody and their grandma could do normal raiding in Wrath and I hope people remember that, but I doubt any community that mandated world buffs in Classic can see much farther than their own cheeto-stained neckbeards.
EDIT: removing LFD is also a big red flag. It’s part of why Wrath was super chill and I was looking forward to finally ridding myself of all the trade spam “LFM for x dungeon, no more y class” that has plagued Classic. Just freaking play the game and accept some competition for loot, geez…
Yep I sure haven’t seen a single retail player like this change. The Classic community is pretty split.
It is of my opinion that Wotlk is not Vanilla and it does not need to be. Dungeon Finder was added to wrath to address an issue that was present in Wrath: The need for LOTS of Heroics. Short-sightedto think because no LFD in Vanilla is good that it makes it good in Wotlk as well
I havent waited for any iteration of Classic.
Because I already played them decades ago.
I don’t think much about it. Anytime I get a desire to visit Northrend I throw one of my little guys there and level for a bit.
I’ve tried both classics, but never lasted more than a couple weeks before I was ready to go back to the modern gameplay.
I’ll give LK a try, but I don’t expect it to come out any different.
Tho DK is one of my favorite classes. That might make a difference. If I don’t need to have leveled something else. If I do, I’ll probably never get there.
I enjoyed Wrath but I don’t see myself playing it again, I’ll let those memories stay where they belong.
Mostly this.
