No. Don’t need you to play through it though. Would rather you go do some quests to help restore the Forsaken or some such. But no. The Alliance can’t go beat someone else up. Especially not the Night Elves or Worgen. Those two races specifically need big on screen victories against the Horde to re-instate them as credible rivals in the faction rivalry that consumes this game from start to finish.
And thats fine, but you Alliance players do need to understand where Horde players are after BfA.
We aren’t arguing from a stance of having our power fantasy infringed upon. We’ve never really been allowed one, outside of those villain bat moments we’re meant to feel nothing but shame for. We’re not arguing for the reassertion of our Faction Identity? Its so damaged we don’t even know what the Faction is anymore. We aren’t trying to reinforce our Racial Fantasies, with so many of them left in ruin. We’re in such a bad state after BfA we Horde players have been left desperately trying to justify why the very Faction and Races we love should exist at ALL in this game anymore… Its a bitter position to be in…
The Horde Faction and its players have been left floundering with no direction after Blizz took us for a joyride so Sylvanas could settup Shadowlands. And over a decade of IMMENSE neglect when not being hit with that villain bat. So when Alliance players continue to imply that we got something, ANYTHING positive out of BfA … its hard not to get frustrated. 15 years of storytelling completely destroyed so Blizz could use us as a Plot-Device, and now … we’re not even sure where to restart… The faction is THAT broken.
I think that’s the problem you and others are missing though. We alliance players, especially NE and Worgen players specifically were treated like crap YET AGAIN in BfA. We have nothing to be proud of either droite.
Can you honestly tell me, as worgen player or any NE player, that there is ONE moment we should be proud of in BfA? Because it’s just another gut punch from blizzard.
It’s borderline malicious mistreatment from blizz at this point.
What about the power fantasy of the Horde being this unstoppable army that gets stuff done?
You have complained a lot about how much power fantasy the NEs have but at the end of the day they got wipedout resoundingly minus the few quest texts that said “yeah this isn’t even their main force”.
Thats one thing BFA did right for Horde I think that they don’t need to fix. Horde army still gets shat done.
Yeah, that’s quite the fantasy you have there. We barely won a single battle in BfA that we had to win to be labelled the villains for the entire remaining expansion. Against a civilian police force and Malf, who stopped the entire Horde War Machine dead twice. While being told the entire Horde combined could not have hoped to beat the NEs alone, if either: A) Tyrande and Malf were on the field at the same time; B) 90 percent of their forces weren’t deterred south: and C) Both. Then we lost every single battle in the 4th War from that point on, AND were constantly and actively shamed by even Blizz’s writers themselves for that one barely “win” we did get.
I mean, if you think the horde should steamroll a race who’s older than entire horde combined, than…I don’t know what to say. That’s a bit unrealistic too.
We have no clue how many night elven souls were saved. Could be all, could be half. Could be a quarter. We have no clue.
One, headcannon. Two, a lot less Night elves to get their immortality. Three, the whole immortality business is rather irrelevant to them, considering they still live for what seems to be tens of thousands of years naturally. And four, does absolutely nothing to adress what has already happened, or to bring back all those who died. It’s a small comfort to recieve something when the majority are gone.
What we are being told is very different than what actually happens.
Villainbats are not really the point when it comes to military achievements.
And finally a good army general uses strategy. If commander is throwing his soldiers at an impregnable gate rather than flanking from behind he isn’t demonstrating strength but just stupidity.
I wouldn’t say they need to be the masters of everything but the one or two enchanted forests they have dominion over? Yes.
Honestly Horde should have a huge fist pump moment when they marched through it with relatively minor losses that still allowed them to wage a global war after it.
Character redemption =/= Faction redemption.
And even then the player is not really THAT guilty compared to the rest. They are just a passenger along for the ride.
