Given how many pfas they’re finding in our public drinking water with 0 plans to remediate it; putting costs on homeowners to buy/figure out filtration for themselves, I feel conflicted on how to feel about this analogy.
See? There we go. It’s not so hard to let the smiling mask slip.
They can mask their offended state in humor if they want. Kind of the entire point of the picture I posted earlier.
“Wow is dead because xyz!!!”
There was one yesterday with that exact headline lol
yeah i mean…that’s really overdramatic and silly but i wouldn’t say it’s incendiary lol, if that was the bar for a ban i feel like no one would feel comfortable voicing any criticism
I guess I’m just trying to understand the relevance here.
Is the OP’s post incorrect? Are they wrong for stating that the forums would be a better place if people who unproductively mald and spew word vomit all over the forums were banned?
Once again emphasizing the stark contrast between actual criticism and proper malding.
It seems to me you’re less concerned with the validity of the OP’s words, and more about… how offended you perceive them to be…?
Tbh I would. Its unnecessary and they know exactly what they are doing.
I would temp ban posts like that or super obvious bait/troll threads.
Not instant perma.
Nowhere has the OP, or anyone else for that matter, actually “emphasized” this. They’ve repeated that there is a difference and left it entirely undefined. Refusing to even supply examples of what they would consider “abusive criticism” or “malding,” which I’ll simply say is going to be different for everyone anyhow.
Yes, it is incorrect.
Yes, they are wrong.
But I’m glad we’ve cast aside the facade that it’s all for funsies at this point and that you’re seriously off put by seeing critical takes.
If you walk into my house and start insulting my husband or rudely criticizing my interior decor, or telling me that I can’t cook, you’re leaving. No discussion.
That doesn’t make me a dictator. That makes me someone who has control over their own private environment.
People who think they can act however they like, whenever they like, and that no one has any authority to control the quality of their own surroundings, act much more like dictators in my opinion.
It’s not self-evident? We can’t make reasonable conclusions as to what constitutes valid criticism and what constitutes “malding”?
I guess we’ll agree to disagree!
I never claimed it was entirely for “funsies”.
I distinguished there were certain elements of the OP that were more humorous than others.
I guess you’ve self-affirmed your takes are “critical.”
I guess the OP isn’t the only thing I’m finding funny in this thread. Thanks for that!
This.
People dare to criticize my beloved multi million dollar company!!! RAGE BAN THEM ALL!
eh i guess, i think of “incendiary” in this case as targeted insults, like the OP said attacking the values and talents and worth of the devs directly. i dont mind super obvious bait threads getting 404’d but yeah not a permaban even if they are annoying
i dont mind trying to keep the forums non toxic and at least semi-productive but being too ban happy can have the opposite effect sometimes
I do absolutely think this, and I think for the most part most of us here are capable of determining which opinions and what feedback is valuable and what is just posting.
It is really not that hard to ignore and disregard stuff you don’t like to see on the forums at your own discretion.
Given what social media is these days, I am aware that removing the most poisonous of the depressed hypnotoads on the forums might result in nobody showing up at all. No car crash, no crowd to watch, if you get my meaning.
Yep, because you just want to be outraged and tell everyone how wrong they are. Good riddance!!!
I laid out a very decent reply, which you conveniently just ignored because you want to hide behind being offended.
Keep padding that post count Tiffany!!!
I swear, you guys are some of the softest gamers I have ever encountered.
I think that if you have to constantly expend mental energy to ignore a lot of gratuitous negativity and overwrought doom-and-gloom, that it takes a real toll. Having to pan for gold in a muddy river – or maybe, having to pan for hard candy in a septic tank – is a kind of psychic tax that doesn’t really work for me.
Alternatively, you have no value to add and people didn’t feel like reading your novel of a reply.
But, ya know, or your thing.
I doubt it, though.
Maybe it takes more mental energy for you than it does others. When the forums, in my opinion, seem sucky, I stay away or mute threads. Staying away is the easier option. After a while I had to stop engaging with and reading any and all Plunderstorm threads, for example. It did not take that much of a mental toll for me to do that. But I’m speaking for myself.
Unless someone is outright making threats against Blizz or its employees, it isn’t likely someone is going to be permabanned from the forums.
Honestly, GD is some other type of animal. This is absolutely the right call.
Wait… we can do this?! Please, I beg you, where is this option?
At the bottom of the page of any thread. Click on where it says Tracking and switch to muted.
