Super unpopular hot take: If you use over-the-top incendiary language to bash WoW and Blizzard without providing specific examples and suggesting specific remedies, and if you personally insult and attack the values, skill and dedication of the people who make WoW, you should be unceremoniously wiped from the forums and banned form posting permanently.
I feel like I’m taking crazy pills, because I’m playing MOP Remix and really enjoying it, but then I get on the forums and people are talking like the devs should be brought up on human rights abuse charges at the Hague. I think there’s plenty of tuning and adjusting that could happen to make MOP Remix an even better experience, but I don’t think some of the language being used here serves any purpose but letting damaged people vent their undifferentiated bile at people who are literally just trying to make games for us to play.
i mean, it’d be easier if you provided some examples of what you consider “over-the-top incendiary language”. while most of the criticisms of Remix are valid, a few people are definitely taking things too far. but mostly i’ve only seen it directed at blizz as an entity, ie “they’ve falsely advertised” or a take i don’t personally agree with, “they’re being purposefully malicious to drive sub numbers while keeping leveling boosts a viable purchase” (they never were at that price vs the retail leveling speed, let’s be honest)
so, hysterical and overdramatic in some cases, sure, but not ban-worthy imho. i think blizzard overcorrected some issues and they could be doing a better job of communicating, but i expect (most) of the issues to be addressed fairly soon, at least with regards to scaling and such
I mean I hate a stupid murloc onesie as much as the next person, but I can literally smell forum posters through my phone.
It’s very obvious people here need to hit the gym, shower up, and check themselves into therapy. They whip themselves up into a frenzy over a video game.
It’s a super unpopular take because it’s absurd and childish.
Maybe that’s what YOU think they’re doing.
All sounds very holier than thou, and ‘stop being mean to the devs’-esque.
Perhaps you should have your keyboard privileges revoked so you can stop spending so much time being upset at others’ opinions that differ from yours on an internet forum for a mediocre dwindling video game.
I do agree that personal attacks and insults about the people who work on the game is very horrible. But frankly those kinds of posts often use some language that easily counts as abusive, so I have no qualms about flagging them. But just criticising the game itself, the product that we pay for as customers? That is entirely fine.
Therapy is just paying to talk to a 105 IQ person until you agree with them. Suggesting anyone needs to go through this humiliation ritual because they, God forbid, criticized a product they spent money on is insane.
(I actually like MOP Remix, it’s one of the few things they’ve done mostly right in years, but pretending that people who “dislike X or Y Blizzard decision” are mentally deranged or somehow unsavory because of that is ridiculous.)
i mean insulting wow devs is already against the forum code of conduct so…but uhm your take is going a bit too far. also if someone has a beef with blizzard why do you care about it? they’re not personally attacking you. as long as they arent making threats against the devs or something I dont see the issue.
why is this needed for this problem…mods can already see all your alts and your isp. even the most basic of modding tools for forums allow you to see users isp. They can certainly see your battletag as can others when you go to their profile.
Just let people say whatever they want generally so long as it doesn’t cross any tos lines. Doomsayers can get annoying for sure, but they don’t need banned just for being annoying.
