“I’m not crying, you’re crying.”

Blizzard gets to moderate and run their forums however they want – they aren’t bound by any precepts of free speech or the 1st Amendment, as that only relates to government-sponsored censorship – but I do like to daydream about what would happen if the devs just said, “If you insult the motives or talent of our creative staff, you’re out of the conversation, permanently.” What would that do to forum engagement, if anything? How would forum culture change, if at all?

Would we miss the people who were banned?

You could curtail 90% of the posters in GD and I think it’d be for the better.

You do not have a grasp of the situation

The situation is that several people take the forums far too seriously.

yes, lets silence criticism and only allow positive opinions, that wont have a negative effect the game with a legion of yes men who wouldnt dare gainsay the opinions of the devs. all good no problems continue as you like.

And look at who’s still subscribed.

they let you post until your sub date so he could be unsubbed and still able to post. its how the forums have worked since the beginning.

Your wrong. But that’s about what I would expect. More evidnece you have no idea what you are talking about.
Perhaps you could start by telling us what’s so terrible about IBM.

No it is a game that has not been mismanaged. But OK tell us, given a 20 year old game and what you know about the problems that come with software that old, what would you have done differently to make it a better product.

And please don’t tell us how you would make the game play differently from the users point of view, that doesn’t help with bugs. Tell us what you would do about the code base itself and how you would make it run better given that most of your development people have to work on content, not keeping the software written for systems 20 years ago running on modern hardware with all its new demands.

I have to admit I kind of was one of them. I still think it stinks about the dynamic flight giveaway in the remix. They should just get rid of the glyph hunting in Dragonflight now also. But for me, it seems it was mostly about understanding what the remix was and picking the right class for me to play it. I went with a class I did not enjoy playing and started over. Now I am enjoying it very much.

Here is a tip, ignore and avoid doomsayers.
Banning one side but not the ones who love anything blizzard does and won’t give examples is silly. Just be an adult and ignore the stuff that hurts your feelings.

Sounds like speech suppression, you know who else suppress speech ?

You’re the second person in this thread to invoke Putin.

I guess this is the new Godwin’s Law after the mustache man was put off limits.

Which is why the forums are the worst place to get the vibe of the game. Which is unfortunate.

If you were to ban complainers there’d be, what, five to ten posts a day?

Unless the complainers are using language that’s already ban-worthy, I’d say leave them alone.

All threads after banning the complainers:

“I love X! X is great for the game!”

“Agreed! X is fantastic and exactly what we’ve all been asking for!”

/end thread

Community still can’t decide whether censorship is okay or not.

Quite a shock to find that GD isn’t in unanimous agreement on a subject. Must be a first.

While there is truth to this, it works both ways. People who are offended that anyone would criticize anything about the game, who take it as a personal attack that people who paid real money are unhappy that they didn’t get what they thought they were paying for, they have a problem. Requiring all posts to sound like they come directly out of a marketing chatGPT would look hilariously phony.
