Hot Take: Ban Doomsayers

First mistake. :no_mouth:

Honestly OP, people will always have something to complain about. As annoying as it is, I don’t feel that right should be taken away from them. It’s a fine line to try and silence people who have complaints, regardless of how irate and ridiculous the complaints may be.

I’d try and follow the old fashioned advice of ignoring them. Remix is fantastic. :revolving_hearts:

You don’t know what I call “incendiary”.

Also, I’ve given little to no opinion on the topic, certainly not in our conversation.

I’ve simply attempted to address your straw-manning.

For some reason, each time I explain to you that you’re straw-manning, you come back with additional arguments.

it’s kinda funny and sad at the same time that people take this game so seriously that behave like blizzard killed their newborn and write whole essays on a saturday evening in these forums . so sad

They make the game part of their real life identity. So, any criticism against the game, is a criticism against them.

I don’t feel attacked when I see posters make ad hominem attacks against devs, using puerile and childish exaggeration to make it seem like relatively minor game issues are a civil rights violation. I don’t feel attacked when I read that.

I do feel disgusted, however, because they bring nothing of value to the forums, and treat public discussion like some kind of toxic waste receptacle.

Yeah I’ll disregard your super unpopular hot take. There’s been good and constructive criticism regarding Blizzard and the work they’ve done enough for them to know that what you have in dragonflight isn’t actually Warcraft.

You’ll see that most of the people noting that the story is trash for example have stated WHY the story is trash. Same for environment, artwork, soundtrack, etc.

As for the MOP remix, I also agree it’s pretty enjoyable, I just think we level up too fast in it, I wish it were slower so we can experience the story better.

Ok fine. So give us the source so we can all see what was said at the “latest GDC”. I hope you don’t think I’m just going to take your word for it. Show us your evidence.

Ok prove it. Tell us who they had designing software and writing code that was so great and who they have now that 's not so great. Show us examples of the code the different people wrote so we can make our own judgement as to who is a good software engineer and who is not.

Really? So what happens when the technology changes and the old code doesn’t work any more? Show us what information you have as to how many people are doing what at Blizzard?

Now what I suspect is that you don’t have this information which is why you had to lean so heavily on insults but hey maybe you do. It will be fun going over the code and comparing what the old programmers did to what the new programmers are doing.

Have at it. Make your case.

Oh my god, please just get over yourself. These developers don’t care about you, they don’t need you to defend them. This post just reeks of someone that has spent too much time on social media getting indoctrinated into the social and political outrage culture.

Please, stop dragging this culture war nonsense into gaming. Video game developers have always faced crazy comments since the dawn of gaming forums.

I get so tired of how easily offended people are these days. You don’t have to read these forums, you can use the ignore button, you can create a safe space for yourself if you can’t handle a little ribbing. I haven’t seen any egregious yet, nothing that violates the CoC.

Stop trying to police people’s comments. If you see something that breaks the CoC report and move on. use that ignore button

This post just reeks of someone seeking attention and validation for something they seem to be not enjoying,

I agree

This should be a safe space for complainers, with how easily the anti-WoW crowd gets offended.

To be fair, that’s not exactly a good thing.

“X part of the game is trash” or “X isn’t actually Warcraft” is not criticism. It’s definitely an expression of something, but I seriously doubt that the people who write things like that actually understand what they’re expressing.

Because they aren’t trained and aren’t qualified.

They’re just venting.

And while it might be allowed, it brings nothing helpful to the table, and it could just as easily not be said, and we’d lose nothing.

I guess that makes it okay then.

You have the worst takes of any poster I’ve seen in the GD forums, and that’s impressive.

You need to be trained to recognize what all of the Azeroth quests were like with Necromancers raising undead in peaceful places? The entirety of the undead lore in the plaguelands, and the culling of Stratholme? That Warcraft?

Please I’m tired of people like you who excuse the bs bunny spirits being produced in the last three expansions.

The only saving grace that last felt like real Warcraft was Ny’Alotha and maybe the 2nd raid in Shadowlands.

Places like Zereth Mortis and Ardenweald really don’t belong in WoW.

I own a business, we deal with crazy clients all the time. Just part of running a business that interfaces with the public.

As long as people are doxing the devs, or sending death threats, I don’t see anything wrong with calling out their lack of talent on things.

So, you do you need to be an engineer of cars in order to give a bad review for the lemon you bought?

This mindset is silly, Abricot. Your comments just scream gen z to me, sorry, but they do. That entire generation is constantly just in an outrage, a lot of millennials as well.

There are a million other things you could be doing with your time instead of making excuses for a billion dollar greed machine.

The amount of commenters in this thread who need a lesson on straw-manning is really, really impressive.

OP : “let’s stop with the worthless, incendiary posts that do nothing but to attack individuals”

People : “StOp TrYiNg To SiLeNcE cRiTiCiSm”

If you don’t understand the difference between criticism and what the OP is talking about, it’s a problem.

Meh it might be over the top at times but it’s entertaining too

I’d argue the devs themselves are probably even more critical of their own work then we are.

OP specifically mentioned banning people who bash WoW the game.

It is like these people never read a gaming forum. You should have been around in the late 90s, gaming forums were like the wild west. Half the people on the WoW forums probably would have had a heart attack just after a few mins of reading posts then.

People are just way too sensitive these days. Social media has rotted people’s brains.

I didn’t get that from the OP, and I’m only reading comments as I happen upon the thread.

If I missed that one, I guess that’s my bad!

Literally in the OP.

NOTE: I had to quote someone else quoting OP because I have OP muted.
