IT has been mismanaged, at the latest GDC they addmitted that SL was a big miss. Their sales numbers have been declining to the point they don’t even talk about box sales anymore.
I understand this problem extremely well. You act like you’re the only person in the world that knows how to code. The fact is, Blizzard doesn’t have the engineers it used to have that actually know how to fix problems with the actual code.
The bulk of their developers are just designers, they are mearly using the design tools that were built by the enginneers decades ago. Most of them don’t have a clue what is going on under the hood of the game.
Blizzard has had a massive problem attracting talent the last 10 years, good software engineers are not getting into the video game industry as well, they can make a lot more money in other places.
So, yeah, the game has been mismanaged a lot, because the people working on the game just lack experience and the talent the studio used to have.
Do you realize that early on, a lot of the hires for Blizzard were fans that pointed out bugs, offered suggestions on game design, wrote game guides, ect ect…
A good portion of the team that was hired after Vanilla launched came from the player base. Ion the lead on WoW was a raider and ran a website called Elitist Jerks, it is how he got a job at the company.
The guy that made the monk Chris Kalieki was hired during TBC because his game ideas got back to the team.
The problem with modern Blizzard, is the current team is too proud to read player feedback anymore, and they hire kids out of game design school that don’t have a lick of talent.
My friend, this is utter speculation here, you honestly have zero clue what is going on behind the scenes when it comes to this kind of stuff.
I can tell you that if you did a little bit of digging, you would realize that Blizzard doesn’t have the talent they used to have, that is why there are so many bugs now.
I’ve been playing video games since the mid 80s, I know a good game when I play one and a bad one when I play one. It doesn’t take some code genius to realize WoW has a lot of blunders when it comes to game design over the last 4 expansions, the developers have admitted right from their mouths.
You seriously need to check your ego too, no one cares that you worked at a computer company. That doesn’t make you some kind of coding genius. For all we know, you are some retired old salesman that can probably barely figure out how to turn your smart TV.
If you would like to provide evidence of what software you have worked on, I’m all ears. I’d love to see what games you shipped, what your role was on those teams.
If it was non game related, I’d love to see what software you worked on, and what your role was in the development of those projects.
Edit: I’d like to add one more thing here. If this kind of negligence was taking place at say your bank, wouldn’t you be up in arms about it? Imagine you going to withdraw funds from the ATM, but the entire system kept crashing because of coding mistakes by inexperienced coders. You would be up in arms. For some reason, gaming companies just get away with this crap all the time, because us players don’t hold them to account. We just keep buying this buggy, half-baked crap because they got us hooked.
I just get so tired of players like you rushing to the defense of a huge billion dollar company that refuses to pay well and invest properly into their projects.
