Would have been fun, but Blizzard’s mentality through this expansion was come up with things in a five minute brainstorming session and then implement the ideas that looked like the cheapest and required the least work.
Easy enough to take a couple pre-existing zones, spruce them up a bit, and then add a few features rather than come up with something new and exciting.
Found a new one today while leveling a leatherworking alt. When you go meet Atikka Moonchaser (a tauren) for a leatherworking quest, he says this to you as a greeting, right out of the blue:
“There may be blood on the Horde’s hands, but there is no purpose in washing them until the Alliance is shattered.”
And I was like “WTF, Blizzard? Guilt in the middle of a freaking profession quest?”
Despite all the guilt and shame they tried to force feed us when it comes to Teldrassil and the night elves, etc. they still have Horde players doing quests that are heroic. We did save Zandalar and likely all of Azeroth from a nasty blood disease worm-god. Azshara and N’Zoth were both equal parts both factions instead of 85% Alliance, like the Argus campaign was.
For all their efforts to shame they also gave stuff to be proud of.
It almost sounds like a psychologically abusive relationship…
Because their leader was a Alliance and Horde fangirl who:
Killed her own father to help the Horde
Was always there to prevent the Alliance from attacking the Horde
Refused to obey Varian’s orders in MoP and only got angry when she discovered Horde taking advantage and stealing the Divine Bell under her nose
I mean, the first point letting your own dad be killed for the sake of the Horde itself screams neutrality. I don’t think Horde players understand that level of sacrifice she did which led to the founding of the Horde.
Letting the Horde kill your own kin for the good of the world is the most tragic event which no other character in the WoW universe has experienced.
…I mean that’s all good and all, but when you send troops to attack horde settlements and blockade their allies you kinda forgoe your neutrality claims. You can’t send troops to assault the hordes holdings in the southern barrens and send ships to distrupt horde shipping interest, then go “I was really Neutral the Entire time”.
Seriously Theramores neutrality claim was super stupid.
Practically there is no “Horde” in the first place without Jaina’s pivotal decision. At best you would have a bunch of struggling Orcs, Taurens and Trolls who would just dwindle in number with the increase in attacks from Daelin and his army.
Tyrande would have ignored and gone back as usual.
Next, coming to your point, Jaina was the leader of Theramore and she had the right to claim neutrality because she was not responsible for sending those forces against the Horde.
I mean, you’re talking about a character who often put her allegiance to the Alliance at risk when she repeatedly appeared out of nowhere to teleport aggressive Alliance forces from Undercity and other places too.
It’s not her fault that the Alliance had a warmonger in Varian who kept pushing for territory by sending soldiers and the only way she was able to help the Horde was to stop fights whenever possible.
She basically did her best to help the Horde so she said Theramore is neutral. She literally severed ties to her own family for the Horde.
That’s a true sign of a neutral leader desperately trying to keep their city neutral.
I don’t think that you past or leader opinions matters when you send troops into horde lands to attack them.
Seriously, if you raze down villages and pillage trade vessels and don’t try to actively seek to make repercussions as soon as possible, your not neutral. She sent troops into Horde lands, who proceeded to attack the people there, that is an aggressive action that you need to make quick work to try and heal up or you’ll be in a war. She sent troops to Horde lands with the purpose of taking the southern barrens and disrupting Horde Industry. It’s not like she was simply selling stuff to the alliance, which is an actual neutral way to support a side in the war, she had her military engage in hostile actions in horde lands. Her being forced into it and her past don’t really matter when her nation still did it and she didn’t seek a way to do damage control.
If it was a militia you could kinda claim it was out of her control, but it was an active military offensive designed to help relieve pressure from the night elves. That is a noble endeavor, but still discarding your own neutrality to do it. A Counter Offensive would be expected should your troops be pushed out.
(This is also why Baine’s line of “Legitimate Military Target” makes no sense BTW, if someone attacks a military base to try and take the lands surrounding it, that is generally considered by most people to be an act of war)
This is more of an example of the Horde being a spoilt brat. Oh you made cake? What about cookies? Ok what about soda pop? You didn’t make soda pop?!! Screw you, you’re selfish.
After all she’s done, the least the Horde can do is look upon her as a tired entity caught between both sides of the war. What’s she supposed to do? Attack the Alliance? She’s done her best trying to help the Horde as much as possible.
I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t be saying “Your past actions don’t matter” when you understand the level of sacrifices she made is far greater than just randomly putting them aside or even anything any character has done in WoW.
It’s not being a Spoiled brat when troops are being sent into your lands, killing innocent people, attacking your allies, and burning down your homes. As much as Taurajo is over blown, it did show that Theramore was not neutral, they attacked the Horde and had plans to lay siege to the Gates of Mulgore, it was a super obvious hostile military campaign designed to cut the Horde in Half by taking control of the Barrens, you can’t just do that then say “Ok Since i helped you a lot in the past you’ll just ignore that massive military campaign designed to horrifically cripple you right?”
It would be like Canada invading the Midwest, yeah we’re allies and somewhat close, willing to help each other a lot, but were not just gonna let them attack us and get away with it!
It’s incredible how people goes that far to justify atrocities and doesn’t want to even acknowledge the small black tints in the Alliance.
Sure I can understand a lot being pissed by the two almost continuous war against the Horde but saying the Tauren got what they deserve is just outright nuts(They’re currently with the Pandaren the most peaceful races in the game)
I mean this isn’t talking about the act of nuking the city itself, moreso the idea that you can claim neutrality after trying to launch a large scale military assault.
