The Horde story is pretty dumb though like Vol’Jin was way better as a leader and a character than Sylvanas. But they killed him off to make her look good, same with Saurfang…much better leader…killed off for edgy, grumpy, personality-devoid, resting b*tchface.
But at the same time, from the Alliance’s perspective, it’s like, “hey, we exist here still, hello, hellllooooo?”
Okay but have you ever considered we have the same problem? I don’t want Blizzard “furthering” the Horde story because that way lies ruin. You WANT Blizzard to “further” the Alliance story cause you are under the impression that terrible story is better than no story. …see? We want the same thing.
Yes, and no, but for different reasons.
Alliance wants to be included in the storytelling and the storytelling improved for both factions.
It’s a bit confusing really to be told the Alliance has the stronger military then for a Horde leader to suddenly go crazy and start attacking the Alliance brutally and the Alliance to be losing the war only to have the rest of the Horde turn on itself to defeat said Horde leader. I find lore to be more interesting when there’s a being that threatens both factions without a faction allegiance.
I prefer it when there’s an implicit sense of distrust and a danger of open hostilities but the danger is usually sheathed in intrigue rather than just blatant tree burning. Then the main story is like zombies or demons or something.
Says the human male pally. Okay buttercup but most hard races have no racial leaders. Aslo we have no warchief lile wtf.
Thing is, if you go look at quests and NPC dialog in Vanilla/Classic, the “Alliance are Lawful Good” is subverted. The stalker-y rogue trainer in Darnassus, the quest to kill a member of the House of Nobles for warlocks, the dwarven rogues wanting to infiltrate/corrupt the Senate, Fandral Staghelm…it’s subtle but it’s there.
Same with the Horde, indications that all was not joy and sunshine – the troll rogue trainer in Org says, “We’re just biding our time to kill Thrall”. Then the quest to rescue Moira from the Dark Irons to buddy up to the dwarves and possibly lure them away from the Alliance.
The grey areas got a boost in TBC, with the blood elves protesting joining the Horde and those sin’dorei still looking to Sylvanas, and the draenei commander in Telaar who orders Broken to torture a captured blood knight.
All that’s gone bye-bye with the “Alliance is Captain America on steroids, and that’s too hard to write!” mentality. Until recently. I still say Blizzard shouldn’t have caved and kept the Alliance killing Vulpera.
I agree with everything you just said. Captain America was where it all went wrong for the Alliance side of things. Also where it all went wrong for the Horde…did you know the Forsaken in the Ghostlands have gasp social skills? You wouldn’t see that kind of thing in BFA.
Historically, racials started the mass migration to horde, everything snowballed from there.
Arcane torrent was strong from tbc to… bfa?
The damage was done, now we’re here.
If you say racials didn’t start this, you probably started in legion.
I started in Burning Crusade, I remember having to use Mana Tap, and stacking it 3 times. The part that sucked about it was Mana Tap could be purged which was ALWAYS annoying to pop Arcane Torrent and see I got no energy back, only because the Alliance team purged my Mana tap buff away!
Arcane torrent wasn’t OP at all, it was just one of the more viable racials. It was unjustly slapped with the nerf bat into a now nigh-useless AOE purge that only really works as a resource restorer, but even then, it’s now negligible!
Draenei still have Gift of the Naaru, which works as an insane heal when needed.
You ever notice how most of the time a racial that gives a big heal, it’s Alliance who gets it and not Horde?
Civil till my nemesis raislin shows up
Much like the Cowboys, it’s not the head coaches fault. He is doing his best trying to get paid.
Its the people responsible for hiring him that are at fault.
It would even be more real if it were Ion’s boss telling what he has to do, and Ion just being the face of the decision.
JJ was a loser from the day he did Tom Landry dirty
Rastalin? Isn’t that just when the comedy arrives? I love reading his posts. Always very amusing. Not having Rastalin in a Raider IO thread, is a slap in the face. So to say. Lol
We could get a color-coded wheel of a city (sort of like Stormwind) but with the archetecture of each race in each segment. So there’d be a red/white/gold Sin’dorei district, a purple/silver Nightborne district, a red spiky orc district, a golden Aztec Zandalari district, etc. How cool would THAT look?
That’s just insane. An AOE silence in PVP, for free as a racial, was way too much. It needed the bat.
Alliance perceived 1 sided thinking is ruining Wow.
They don’t try to understand, they simply throw accusations of bias.
Of course they are, we have known this for how long now?
You can either choose to continue to play a broken game or give up on it. Make a decision already. Because arguing or advocating for it to change is too late. Its created an imbalance that is unfixable, imo.
Or you can just jump on the band wagon and go horde.
Belfs are the largest cause of racial imbalance. The most simple solution is nerfing belf racials to the point on paper without seeing the race or faction players would pick them 50/50 based on racials alone. Hardcore belf lovers will still stay belf OFC. Though shadowmeld would probably have to be disabled when playing the demonhunter class otherwise like 9 of 10 DH would be Nelfs.
Their racials aren’t as good now that Arcane Torrent was nerfed into oblivion.
True, still if you look at most guides from the experts blood elf is top 3 in nearly every spec for pvp and pve.
