Except on PvP servers, the Alliance are outnumbered. Going into a place like Coilfang is a game of, “how many times do I die before I get to the instance” for us.
I’ve actually layered, and there were 30+ Horde at the stone and controlling the landing on all of them.
for the 30 millionth time - ironforge.pro uses warcraft logs for their statistics. if you’re still leveling, you wont show up. if you’re just doing dungeons, you wont show up. if you’re just pvping, you wont show up. if your guild logs are private, or your guild just doesnt upload logs, you wont show up. You are only included in the ironforge.pro census if your character has appeared in a public raid log.
The current totals are based on 2 weeks of raiding - June 2nd to today. I’m sure you can do the math. It is extremely inaccurate this early on.
The gross population of a faction is meaningless tho, the thing that matters is the population of active PvP’rs.
As for PvP it’s gonna change again as more get into arena; that’s gonna remove many from the BG’s and if the horde are lucky the BG Q will be a bit more enjoyable.
Word, didn’t realize that first. I did the math for all US servers and it’s posted somewhere around here but apparently it’s based off WC logs so it’s not accurate.
Either way Horde queues are poop which is discouraging me from even wanting to play the game as it’s either A: stay horde and gear incredibly slowly B: reroll alliance, throw money I used to boost in the trash, leave friends behind and spend a huge amount of time leveling and making new friends. C: Playing a different game entirely and not dealing with any of this.
IMO raid get gear that’s better than S1 / S2 gear and then PvP.
Weapons dependent on spec tho, so if your spec has better weapons in arena then it’s whatever but just means you’re a tad behind like that. Resilience in S1 and S2 isn’t even all that effective because first crit rates are low, resilience isn’t great vs DOT when you need to stack 400 resil for 10% reduction while crippling your offensive stats.
Even in later seasons like 3/4 it’s just ok but the PvP gear is way better in S3+.
As for battleground, I suspect a big part of the horde will hermit in arena / quit and then Q’s will come down just like classic Vanilla.
That may around Phase 3 or 4 I’m guessing.
Some will quit because a certain title or rating is their goal, some will quit because they’re stuck at low levels and can’t rise or get partners while on a mega server; some will quit because they don’t understand CC, DR and line of sight and don’t want to learn team play.
Various reasons will thin the horde.
Because the alliance PvP populations are much smaller this isn’t a problem for the Alliance because even tho we will drop around the same % of players it’s a much smaller gross number.
When it’s all said and done Horde Q’s will stabilize around 15min
I played there for a time in classic with a thug cleave friend but ultimately went to where I am now on Kurinnaxx west Alliance. It’s chill in terms of community and actually a great server to play on if you’re looking for a more realistic TBC Population. Our economy is not broken, over inflated, or a mess. There are enough players to get groups, and most of them are decent to fantastic. Horde side is a lot more “meta” and it’s enjoyable for me because it’s like 75% horde making a very target rich environment.
I really don’t pvp at all so I have no idea how many people are doing it in classic tbc. But couldn’t they implement server groups for the bgs instead of just having every server. It would take a little extra effort but they could do something like server groups based on the ratio to try and keep them balanced.
So, they could have like a 3:1 server of high pop grouped with a 1:3 of high pop and similar ratios to try and balance it out (as much as possible) . They have the data, even we have the data. And they’ve done similar battle groups on retail. They could even try to automate the groupings based on the changing numbers. Again, it would require extra effort so they probably won’t do it, but it’d be cool.
Anyone saying “well actually there are more alliance than Horde” is using the Ironforgepro statistics which only includes players that have submitted a log on warcraftlogs. Obviously given this is only ever done for raids, it’s going to disproportionately show up in PVE servers. PVP’ers and people who just don’t raid aren’t on there. Since Horde are meta slaves who picked PVP racials i’d be willing to bet there are far more horde than Alliance overall.
