High Elf POSITIVITY Thread šŸ˜Ž

This makes me sad. I think the biggest need Void Elves have right is lore. I really want them to come together and forge a path for their people. Blizzard keep neglecting lore for a lot of the races. I feel like after 3 years itā€™s our turn to get some love in the story.

No peace until void elf blonde hair!

No peace!

I called this out when Void Elves were given the opportunity to have lighter skin and blue eyes that Alliance players would still call out for High Elves. I knew this would happen because Alliance players are so predictable.

On a side note I do like the models a lot.

Indeed, brother. Those Alliance scum are so predictable.

After all, on the forums you can only post with your main, nobody posts with alts in order to futher an agenda or make one side look bad. In light of that, as a proud Horde main, I completely support more options for void elves that expand on both their high elven and void elven backgrounds.

Lokā€™tar, am I right, guys?

I got tested for High Elves, it came back positive. What symptoms should I expect? What are viable treatment plans?

Your eyes will turn blue and you will suddenly become fabulous.

You will start hallucinating seeing short people and wake up in a city that you once thought was the base of your enemy.

Yet the thing about Void Elves is after Patch 8.1 when they did ever get much screentime after that?

I mean if they wanted to make them look like the High Elves from Warcraft 2 and 3 then do it. Donā€™t just halfed it in terms of Mages and what not but actually go full out.

Bring back the Elven Destroyers, Bastilles, Rangers with Tattoos instead of Blue Elves that look like skinny Night Elves, and etc.

Plus I also think that Alleria barely did anything during BFA which was disappointing. As for the Silver Covenant they barely play a role at all for the Alliance or atleast have Void Elf ranks within them.

Thereā€™s a time when races have much screentime and I feel that Humans, Worgen, and Night Elves have taken way too much screentime specially the Humans. Iā€™m not saying to get rid of them and only focus on the different race. What I do want for Blizzard to do is to have all the Races and including the ones like the High Elves to be part of the story. Like instead of a squad of Void Elves. Just make them into a society like the Blood Elves and we get see different cool things like Void Dragonhawk riders, Void Striders, Cool High Elven Buildings updated from Warcraft 3 and turned into so much more.

Plus I think Umbric was barely even developed much of a Character since I barely even knew the guy and was just a Random Magister with little backstory. At some point I would like to see the Alliance High Elves being part of the Story more than the Background. Itā€™s just only can only wish for balance in the Alliance story.

They didnā€™t want to give the Alliance high elves. They wanted to give you RP options which they have.

You mean bring in Void Elf ballistae, destroyers and Rangers. We are the future of Alliance Thalassians.

She was handling logistics. That is actually an important job in war and she should be commended. Umbric handled the heavy lifting in the war.

They had no part in BFA.

Also I doubt the SC would be comfortable with Void elves among their ranks.

Not bad ideas.

A nice void aesthetic on them would really make them pop.

He has as much as any other character in BFA does. Heck without him half of our plans wonā€™t work.

Indispensable.

I suspect what you will see is high elves taking a back seat while Void Elves come to the forefront. As we saw in BFA.

Void elves are the only case of a playable race without a story to flesh them out in the expansion that introduced them (I count BfA as ā€œtheirā€ expansion, as they didnā€™t exist in Legion, and were created as a BfA preorder bonus).

  • They had no prior introduction in Legion, unlike all other preorder allied races
  • Their recruitment storyline had the shallowest lore of all allied races.
  • They are the only allied race without a zone dedicated to exploring them.
  • All they got was a chapter and some cameos in the 8.0 War Campaign, and some guest appearances in 8.1. Incursion events.
  • Every possible chance of them exploring the voidy aspects of BfA were wasted.
  • No bonus material on them, be it comics, cinematic, or even a short story, unlike what Nightborne, Highmountain and Mechagnomes got.

Almost three years later, we still have no answers about the most basic aspects of void elf culture. How numerous are they? How are they ā€œcreatedā€? Do the new skin options mean they just study void magic, no need for some ritual? Why would non-magic users be interested in joining them? How is their relationship with high elves? Or with other races of the Alliance? What trials one needs to endure to prove itself worthy of becoming one of them? Whatā€™s their ethos? How do they see their condition? Which subgroups exist within their ranks? What are their long-term goals?

Itā€™s a really bizarre setup that shows how void elves were hastily developed and then abandoned.

Blueberries are few in number, but enough to field significant forces during the war.

Non-blueberries are becoming more common as more High Elf Wayfarers, and Blood Elf Scholarā€™s master the void and undergo the same process Alleria did.

The trap ritual in their recruitment scenario is either impossible to recreate, too dangerous, or not yet understood.

So they follow Locus-Walker and Alleraā€™s now proven path. It is likely that they can summon void entities significant enough in the Rift to use them to complete the process.

Probably just means after the process of becoming a Void Elf there is the ability to retain skin tone, however that does not suggest they would not also be potentially turned blue still. Blizzard is leaving that open for you to decide.

As far as why? Wellā€¦ seems your average Thalassian is like a cat. Curiosity and the desire for more power or perhaps scholarly pursuits. The reasons could be varied and many. Just like any other vocation or race.

Seems relatively fine. We see them actively recruiting in SW, and we see that many have responded coming to learn from Locus-Walker.

As far as the other races of the Alliance? Seems to range. The devout seem more interested in rejecting them, the restā€¦ cautious to accepting.

Harder to tell with available information, however I would imagine theyā€™re relatively lax. They are few in number, and would probably be open given their circumstances to new members.

Ethos? Hmm. Well we talk to them and see that they are relatively willing to embrace darker less sought out powers. They fight for the Allianceā€¦ lets see. Clearly they donā€™t shy away from corrupting things, but are always wary of losing themselves.

Will admit there is a lack of info in this regard.

As far as their condition and how they see it? Seems theyā€™re quite ok with it. Many doors are now open to them after all. Most void Elves talk about expanded possibilities and not being held back any longer. They seem pleased.

Main subgroups appear to be Magisters and rangers. Though they clearly have a warrior group within their ranks. I can only imagine plenty of shadow priests and warlocks as well.

But from what we see mostly Magisters (Though some seem to use only void powers?) and Ranger types.

Long Term Goals? Seems to be serve the Alliance and retake Quelā€™Thalas. Even if they wont themselves be able to live there. They appear to want their brethren to return to the Alliance.

They abandoned the final act of the expansion. 8.3 was a rush and many things were left out. We can see that in Nā€™zothā€™s visions some of them did seemingly fight back, though many were overwhelmed with the Void to attack the citizens. So there wasnā€™t ā€œnothingā€ during 8.3.

Headcanon is still headcanon. I have my own guesses for each question, we can spend days discussing each oneā€™s opinions, but the fact remains itā€™s just our own theories, not canon.

Also, 8.3 wasnā€™t rushed. The Azerite/Essence/Cloak systems probably were, but not the story/content. You can see the seeds all over Legion and BfA. Blizzard intended that crappy ending, which makes it even worse.

It was unlike WoD, in which they scrapped a whole patch/raid tier to rush the ending of the expansion.

A majority of what I said is supported by things in game. Its odd, usually such things are not required to have an NPC literally say it.

The whole thing was rushedā€¦ then they dropped the 8.3.5 patch. They said as much.

Where did they say it?

That does not make your thoughts canon. All that I think are also supported by things in-game. Itā€™s just our interpretations of what we see. Theories, nothing more.

So again, do you expect an NPC to say it directly? what would constitute canon, for you in this case?

I mean this out of genuine curiosity. I see enough evidence to support most of what I said as canon between what I saw in BfA, the Rift, and what happened between Locus-Walker and Alleria on Argus.

It was back when they actually told everyone they were going to release 8.3 with no further content after. They were telling us that they were stopping BfA, dropping 8.3.5 and moving on. They dropped the content for the end of the expansion.

To avoid another WoD they made sure they still had just enough to finish out though.

There was never any talk of 8.3.5 from Blizzard.

That was something people assumed it would happen because of Legionā€™s 7.3.5, but 7.3.5 was just preorder content and bridging Legion and BfA.

These functions were already fulfilled by 8.3 with the Allied race DKs and the post-Nā€™Zoth Horde/Alliance peace treaty events. There was nothing left for 8.3.5.

I expect an actual story like any other race in the game has.
Your interpretation of what is in game is still just your interpretation.

Not sure why you think Iā€™m lying here but thats fine if you want to think otherwise.

Iā€™m not in a position to go digging for it right now, nor do I remember if it was a blue post or an interview.

Ok. What was what they did in BfA then? What story are you looking for? What lore is justified and what is not?

I never said you were lying, only that you are mistaken.

I always followed the patch news very closely, exactly because I was very interested in BfAā€™s story (you know, for the fabled moment void elves become more than a cameo in someone elseā€™s story). And I never saw any talk of 8.3.5 from Blizzard, only speculation from players.

Any story that actually fleshes them out. Shows their perspective, their struggles, their ethic core. Opening portals and carrying orders without any depth into their particular traits is nothing.

A high elf sorceress walking with a void elf sorceress in Stormwind is nothing. Does it mean high elves are joining the void elves? Or watching over them? Or just curious? Or are those particular elves just old friends reunited in the same faction after a long time? We donā€™t know, thereā€™s nothing being shown or told besides that a high elf is walking with a void elf. If at least they had some conversation, we could learn more, but thereā€™s nothing, just two nameless NPCs walking together.

Most lore we got in BfA was in Umbricā€™s 8.0 gossip options. There he at least talks a little about their particular struggles and hopes, but itā€™s very shallow. And the irony is that you only get that text if you are not playing as a void elf!

Thereā€™s also some in Umbricā€™s conversation with Shandris. Again, very shallow, but at least we got a void elf talking about void elves and trying to convince a fellow Alliance member they can be trusted.

What came after is worst: while the previous Umbric examples are all about using their powers responsibly, we get the exact opposite in 8.1 when Umbric is using void magic to emulate necromancy on dead dinosaurs. Was that because the void elves are hypocrites? Are they lying to us? Or just a fumble from the writing team? We donā€™t know! Itā€™s all very shallow, open to interpretation.

Canā€™t we get more NPCs besides Umbric? More gossip text? Some events in Telogrus? Supplementary material like a short tale? An in-game questline that is about the void elves instead of just featuring them?

We shouldnā€™t be waiting 3+ years to get any of that. They are a playable race, for Voidā€™s sake! We should at least know more about a race that we are playing as.

Wait, he tells you that theyā€™re specifically being careful and that heā€™s going to pull you out before it can corrupt you.

Theyā€™re using the void, to devastating effect, and sure looks like necromancy but neither of these are inherently evil, which is also one of the Void Elf points.

He is using their power responsibly there.

While clearly we disagree on the impact of all of these things, and what is and isnā€™t here now, I do agree more is good.

Despite what I remember, I donā€™t really think if I found it, it would charge anything in our conversationā€¦ Itā€™d still be cut content so not here. Ultimately unimportant.

Do agree that I would love to see more interesting VE NPC. Umbric is a pretty stale character. In my view, he is basically just a male magister version of Alleria.

I would love to see an NPC that is resentful about his/her transformation and frustrated by the incessant whispers (I am a bit over characters either being amazing at dealing with the whispers with stoic determination or going insane with power. Surely there must be someone absolutely resentful about the whispers and the power is definitely not worth the lack of peace)
