High Elf POSITIVITY Thread 😎

Warpaint as a feature portrayed in this game regarding an iconic Alliance NPC (Alleria) could be good Velf customization. However, runic tatoos like the ones seen in the old TBC gamebox are more a Belf thing.

This could be a nice way to separate and classify “elf” races in both factions: Alliance get the “warpaint esque” tatoo customization (cause let´s be honest, Nelf tatoos do look like an irl one does A.K.A. tint over the skin) and Horde gets the “magical esque” tatoo customization (I mean, Nightborne arcane tatoos, nuff said).

That is why the compromise the HE fans made is to:

1: new model just for HE or make them Half-elves that inhereted said lore.
2: Not make them former BE like the VE did.
3: Not have VE or BE to make them unique.

Really no one serious about HE lore asked for the BE model. The only ones that did was trollers and karens who don’t know the lore behind alliance aligned HE, and horde aligned BE. I am actually sorry that the BE had they’re appearances robbed of them just cause some karen wanted it or blizz simply taking the lazy way out grudgingly.

there’s nothing wrong with two races that look exactly the same being on different factions.

pandaren showed there’s no problems with it. nothing is stolen, that’s a made up problem.

high elves wouldn’t have arcane torrent as a racial, either. that’s the main reason they abandoned quel’thalas, they didn’t want to use that kind of magic. their racial would be something related to stoicism, since that’s how they survived without the sunwell.

pandaren was a mistake, acknowledged by blizzard. BE was a horde race and should had stayed that way. The first implantation of VE was just stepping on the line, adding BE customizations to it was busting the boundary wall full force. What VE should have gotten via customization was more void features, void skin colors, and maybe hair styles. Not BE customizations.

Man, again: as far as Blizzard is concerned, those Velf PCs that look similar to a Belf are STILL a Velf lorewise and gameplay speaking. No claim whatsoever from Afriasiabi nor Hazzikostas nor anybody saying “blue eyed Belves are 100% Helves that ditched the Alliance / are working as double spyes against Silvermoon” or any other inane ridiculous claim RPers can concoct in their brains. As far as Blizzard is concerned, the headcanons of players are just that: headcanons, period.

And the claims rando people makes on their individual gameplay is quite irrelevant for the other players that don´t interact with them tbqh. It´s WAAAY more dangerous to entertain the purist cause those? Those are the people clamoring for neutral Silvermoon and for the return of WC2.

Also, it´s not a loss for the faction when the people that leaves was miserable by default while playing a Belf (I can bet they weren´t precisely nice people to have around; especially on RP servers). If they hated the faction, the better to see them walk away and finally not having to deal with them making us miserable too.

pandaren were not a mistake.

lore is all that matters, not the aesthetics. if two groups of the same people disagree vehemently enough, i have no issue with them being on both factions.

if there were a group of humans that more ideologically fit the horde, there would be 0 problem with them being on the horde. lore is everything in this game, it’s all that matters. there’s too many people in this thread willing to crap on it, and it reveals that their cries for high elves was a lie the entire time.

Its ok. Thats what we like about you.

Kinda think blizzards issue with Pandaren was that they were the same faction of Pandaren with a minor difference of opinion on how things should be… like really minor. AND then they turned into two factions. On opposing sides of a war.

High elves and Blood elves have a pretty major difference of opinion on how things should be.

i can agree with that to some extent.

their disagreement wasn’t enough to warrant them killing each other, if it never erupted into that on the island itself. so i suppose that was kind of a dumb split.

Err… the RPG is non-canon. As far as we are concerned and actual lore portrays it, most if not all Helves “survived” not by their strong will but merely thanks to them being carried by Humans et al (no seriously, basically the only confirmed group of Helf exilees before WotLK were the elves from Quel´lithien; and those in Cata quite easily became Wretched when they overfed on a magical artifact. The rest? carried in Stormwind by the humans, or in Dalaran by the humans, or in Hinterlands by the Wildhammer and Draenei, and so on…).

It´s not a terribly difficult concept, but canon wise, BOTH Helves and Belves are still arcane junkies -yup, even with the Sunwell. Sunwell merely gives ALL of them, a passive fix, but the addiction is still present-.

I actually do not support a neutral silvermoon. The BE views the HE as traitors and vice versa. The only reason why the BE allow travel to the sunwell to HE’s is because they had fought the legion for it too. HE is not void elves though, and not all of them would want to study the void magic. Not all would go to silvermoon either as they sworn vengeance against the orcs for slaying they’re families. They deserve they’re own slot, not a lazy reskin of a race other ppl started to love, taking away that identity and the BE one too.

The lore supports HE to be it’s own thing. It should not be taking over the VE identity, nor should it be supported to.

Blizzard considers it a mistake, so it is a mistake.

Actually not all of them was helped by humans, some night elves allowed them to use night wells to feed the addiction.

no, it’s still in the canon lore that they mainly survived by learning to live with their craving.

many snapped back into the addiction and gave in over small things. the lodge in the eastern plaguelands was one that made it a long time, but they fell the moment they found a strong enough mana crystal.

vareesa actually had her character very badly damaged in all of this though. she is vehemently anti-blood elven ideology, yet her husband fed her mana crystals, so it made her a rather psychotic hypocrite.

we don’t have any evidence of this that i know of.

up until the shen’dralar returned, it was still illegal for a quel’dorei to exist in night elven lands, and had one tapped a moonwell, they’d have been slain on sight. there’s a sentinel assigned to specifically watch one shen’dralar in the temple in darnassus and she repeatedly threatens his life if he taps it.

You forget there is a moon well in SW didn’t you?

there was, yes. but it was tended by night elves, for night elven purposes.

there’s nothing saying they ever allowed a high elf to tap into it. it’s a specific thing, not a latent connection like to the well of eternity or sunwell, they have to directly interact with the waters.

No player with an actual ounce of knowledge does. I see the issue as posters asking for stuff according to their own bias. And Helves shouldn´t even care over Silvermoon by default, the way they got retconned in the lore implies they MADE the concious choice of never going back to Quel´thalas after their king pulled the nation from the Alliance.

Simply put it, they´re the equivalent of the American colonizers: they traveled far away from their kingdom for x or y reason, and decided to settle down and make a new life far away from their former home. It´d look extremely hypocritical and absurd (like Veeresa does look in the “Three Sisters” comic) if, after they turned their collective eye to the other side when Quel´thalas confronted it´s darkest time (zombie apocalypse and a 10 year period of harsh difficulties), they just conveniently decide they to want to take back their “stuff” now that the Belves have managed to regain the control of the territory. Sorry but that´s an a-hole move.

Not exactly, by proxy of sharing history, they actually blurry too much with the Belves. The only way Helves could be their own thing is if devs indeed work from the “they will construct a kingdom independient from their past -including Quel´thalas-” PoV and not the retarded “I never did anything to pull out the kingdom from it´s misery, but muh Quel´thalas” BS Windrunner argument.

That’s why I think adding an allied race baised on the decendants the half-elves better. But I generally will fight for HE too. Personally the allinace HE lore should be inherited to half-elves and give Arator the redeemed leadership of them in a way. It gives excuse on why the model looks different, why they can be pallies and why they don’t associate themselves with qual’thalas. It makes more sense then adding BE appearances to ritual transformed VE, and from it ppl that wanted the lore get’s what they want. The karens that wanted they’re “legolas” can make them through half-elves. Really in my mind blizz took the bad way to do things :frowning:

Like the Allerian Stronghold Helves did in Outland? Or Dalaranian elves -like Veeresa and her mage hubby- did?

Man, such a “terrible” hardship when you have m,ember from other races helping you cope with your day-to-day life 24/7. Meanwhile, Belves had to pull their own weigth for almost 10 years (remember, the Forsaken support took time to be implemented -5 years more or less according to “Blood of the Highborne”-. And Belves HAD TO prove themselves pseudo competent and not a complete dead weight to even get considered for Horde membership). So excuse me when I contest the “strong will” of a ranger/mage/priest that gets help from a Human / Dwarf / Nelf / Draenei from a ranger that gets no help at all and still has to go out and fight zombies and trolls regardless.

When one thinks about this is when one understands what was the point on Renthar et al exile. They didn´t even complain over fel per se, they protested over pulling mana from already mad animals going out of control thanks to the lack of arcane on the land A.K.A. extreme mana veganism. And under a constant threat to them and the civilian population, this was idiocy.

I love how people comes out to defend her as this “iconic pure elf” when she portrays A LOT of negative traits. Remember when she randomly blamed THE WHOLE Blood Elf race over her dearest little cousing kidnapping her children (especially when we consider cousin dearest wasn´t even working for Quel´thalas but was actually a rogue element working for Sintharia)? I ´member.

yes please.

Right?

Oh this is Fezzy by the way…

Void based paladins would be neat!

If the light can have its paladin warriors why can’t a shadow priest take up the blade and armor?
