iâve no headcanon here to wish to see respected.
i have the written lore, and the desire to never make a high elf, because i donât like their lore or their affinity for humans.
iâm not telling you to unsub, iâm telling you that you shouldnât stop with your demands. you shouldnât let this deceit pacify you. what you want is not going to be in game, and no matter if you try to headcanon it, you are not a high elf. you have to accept this is the fact of reality.
and if you donât continue to demand high elves, youâve wasted literal years of your life asking.
this is more like people rping as dragons. theyâre not a dragon, and itâs dumb they do this.
as a void elf, youâre every bit as different from a high elf as a dragon. having it be slightly easier to pretend to be one isnât delivering what you asked.
If Blood Elves are High Elves than by the same logic Void Elves are High Elves.
Also⌠we have some things the Blood Elves donât that adds a little flair to being an Alliance High Elf:
With the High Elf aesthetic and hopefully some additional lore bits added when this goes live, Iâd say its an acceptable compromise. If you donât agree thatâs fine but stop trying to rain on our parade. Many of us are happy. We have High Elves whether you want to acknowledge them as such or not.
Stop being such a negative Nancy and trying to ruin our day.
If you arenât actually pro-high elf, you know you donât have to echo the fan-fic that some of them made up to try and pretend they arenât all the same damn race.
Right now though, youâre basically just yelling âstop being happy!â at us. But we canât hear you over the sound of our High Elf parade.
You donât have to like it but we also donât have to agree with you and you shouldnât be spending so much energy trying to bring us down. Just because you arenât happy doesnât mean we shouldnât be.
we have to wait until June 9 to see if they say something else
If the skin is justified because the high elves are learning to use the power of the void it means that the title of high elf disappears for both sides
sera blood elfs and void elfs
But as I say we must wait to see what blizzard says and if it justifies these changes with lore
Iâm just a bit confused because, you seem to be anti HE. But youâre upset because pro HE fans like this compromise and see potential if we get added lore. But whatâs more is youâre upset pros arenât mad about this? Iâm not seeing what youâre getting at, other than you want the HE community to be universally mad about this compromise but you yourself hate HEs you say, so I donât see what difference it makes how HE fans take the news.
To a point, I agree, but then we see Alleria that just looks⌠normal, and IDK, it makes clear you donât have to look corrupted to be a Void Elf, which also implies that its a self denominational issue and about a willingness to study the Void, but not a certain degree of it required, you know?
But just like Blood Elves only had green eyes for a long time to signify their willingness to use Fel, I would like a small hint like that; Alleriaâs skin around her eyes is almost magenta; could be interesting to add that sort of otherworly blush.
But this is also very dependent on whether these new skin tones will be in reference to High Elves and Void Elves merging as one political entity and this will be more of a âWildhammer and Bronzebeard Dwarvesâ type of deal, or how with Maghar you have all Draenor clans.
I really do hope that when the customization goes live we get some in-game references about High Elves joining the Renâdorei and some details on the process they are going through.
Right now we have no idea how new Void Elves are being made. I think itâs unlikely that Umbric and Alleria would try to purposefully recreate what was basically an accident when they have Alleriaâs teacher Locus Walker right there to guide new elves in their learning about the void just as he taught Alleria.
It would be a logical explanation as to why these new options are available since Alleriaâs process allows her to retain her regular skin and hair colors when not in void form.
I donât think you can really use leader NPCs to make points about playable race models. They get all kinds of bells and whistles and extra specialness since theyâre leaders or at least major plot NPCs.
I just hope this doesnât end up losing future void based options for the velf. I think that aspect of them is interesting, and if I keep having to play alliance to play with friends Iâd at least like if some of the options leaned into the weird and alien aspects rather than ran from it.
Not by itself, no. But when Void Elves are going to get that skin tone, it does reveals that the assumption she looked like a HE to âbe set apartâ is moot, whether it was even an intention or not -which we donât know-
Cause it might as well be that VEâs were first intended to be able to look more like Alleria from the beginning but got pushback from someone, who knows. Just speculation in either way.
I do agree with that, and if anything, this reveal feels more like a bandaid for the thalassian issue as a whole rather than legitimate customization for Void Elves; I do believe AR are gonna get more customization options down the line, and then we will see more specifically Void Themed customizations.
Still seems a bit like fitting past events to line up with future developments. With the way theyâre actually just blood elf models with skin tone changes in the preview, thereâs a good chance that this was a really recent decision to try and shut us all up about the stupid elves already.
And Iâm glad you guys got something to be happy about, but not gonna lie, this feels like another straw on the camelâs back for me after the last few expansions. Seems like the writing team is split between alliance fans and people who were upset that the orcs progressed past what they were in WC 1&2, so all the stuff that drew me more into the horde story is getting ignored or actively discarded and retconned to make us into some generic evil monster faction that only gets spotlight when weâre killing the good guys.
This is like a great big âHey, weâre listening to youâ for the people that wanted that. And thatâs nice for you. I just have trouble seeing much for the people who liked the WC3 and original WoW style Horde that says they understand how bad they messed up with us.
