High Elf POSITIVITY Thread 😎

Worse, I don´t want the devs lioterally making fun of the Blood males by proxy of this stuff. And after what they did to Aethas on Legion and Lor´themar on BfA I don´t have any trust nor optimistic views regarding this issue.

Problem is not players, but devs themselves using this as a valid character development tool. And it has stopped being fun, now it´s just aggravating.

Aethas, nuff said. He´s not femenine while being VERY lacking in the masculine sense. I don´t attack the femenine, I attack how devs use this femenine traits to make characters become jokes. It´s a jerk move.

Meh, I just don’t care about the idea of faction exclusivity on the first place, so this is going to have to be a Agree to Disagree.

So yeah, this is way more about you projecting stuff into this. Sure Jonny and the BE in the Cataclysm quest are jokes, but Aethas? Lor’themar? How are their characters digs at masculinity on blood elves? Just because Aethas is a pushover then he is not “masculine”? And what are you even talking about with Lor’themar??

(Observation): At least they made Umbric into a decent character. He’s a bit meme-worthy what with the Comrade Umbric jokes, but overall, he’s chill and had good intentions. Also, Rommath’s custom voice lines are pure gold.

Aethas and Lor’themar are completely fine though? I don’t see the point.

Thalyssra X Lor’themar

Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

(Commentary): Lor’themar is fine outside of Thalyssra going cougar on him. Aethas? The guy is a running joke, at least if you played the Legion mage hall quests. He pawns off a royal artifact and national treasure of Quel’Thalas to get re-admittance into Dalaran. When you recruit him there’s dialogue that mentions he was rescued by a Nightborne who would become his apprentice (despite the rescuing in the first place suggesting she’s more competent), after finding him bound naked with a Harpy and a Banshee arguing over who got to play with him first. Aethas is a joke.

Seemsso. Heck, people are alredy asking for neutral Belves and just with the minor changes.

Someone didn´t paid attention to that Legion quest to get the NB mage class follower.

And Lor´themar, the “I do what I do for the benefit of my people” preaching on the good qualities of Baine “my civilian people were legitimate military targets for Alliance and how dare they defend!!” Bloodhoof WAS extremely idiotic. Both male Belves who exuded weakness thanks to more femenine traits in their characterization.

Holy hanna, we do not have time to unpack all of this.

How the heck can someone be sexist towards both men and women at the same time omg.

It´s an exhausting meta, but the gnome basically explained the whole Aethas stuff. And mind you, unfortunately for us Belf players, he´s usually the one that gets the screentime, not Rommath (I suspect THIS is the actual reason devs haven´t managed to ruin Rommath tbqh).

/sigh

Ok, if this is too “sexist” for you people, whatever. I simply want less chances for the devs to continue with the perma “no masculinity afforded in the Blood Elf race” joke, no more and no less.

(Commentary): I’d like to think Rommath’s priority is literally Quel’Thalas first and foremost, and that’s why he rarely leaves it. Lor’themar, Liadrin, Halduron, etc… they come and go with the forces of Quel’Thalas, but Rommath is there, making sure the local threats remember their place.

No, Lor’themar X Jaina.

IT’s literally a meme, that’s it.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with feminine men and women aren’t weak because they’re feminine.

Everything you said was extremely toxic and sexist.

(Commentary): I think what Ariel is trying to say is that there are both positive qualities, and negative ones associated with gender, and we’re only seeing the negative ones associated with the female gender being emphasized in Blood Elven males. Seeing positive female qualities in them would be fine. Seeing positive male qualities in them would be fine. It’s mostly the negatives that are the issue, I think.

(Commentary): To try and paint an example using Aethas, he was portrayed as a Damsel in Distress, powerless, helpless, in need of a big strong (wo)man to rescue him because he couldn’t handle a Harpy and a Banshee on his own (stuff we’ve been trashing since Vanilla WoW in low level zones).

A nice idea, but who knows… supposedly as Grand Magister it´s indeed his responsability to answer for the wellbeing of Silvermoon (this was explained by Mickey Neilson a few years ago in regards to some stuff portrayed in “Blood of the Highborne”… all things considered, Rommath indeed IS Liadrin´s Boss military-wise and I guess an equal to Halduron; while both are subjected to Lor´themar´s designs as Regent Lord.

Excuse me? Are you trying to get Lor’themar killed? We all know what happens around that dreadlord. Every male character dies.

While I understand where you’re coming from, I do think it could have been worded in a way that wasn’t demeaning to either gender.

Thank you however for clarifying.
