High Elf POSITIVITY Thread 😎

Yes but they all started as high elves originally lol.

They remained the same before and after dude.
There was no sunwell corruption that hit one and not the other.
Its what defines them as a race

Then what explains blood elves and they eye color change?

There was a group of elves that didn’t get corrupted. They are known as high elves. That’s why the eye color for blood elves are different.

Logistics.
High elves should have golden eyes as well, but eye color and face is still connected. so, making a new face for npcs to have different eye colors is a waste of time.

I agree I was just pointing out the difference. Yet they did it with blood elves and introduced void elves.

Blood elven eyes changed to green due to the Fel crystals they were using to power Silvermoon. The Fel radiation permeates the area and elves are sensitive to magic. It’s not corruption, they weren’t feeding on it , (maybe locks) and their eyes should return to blue /gold with the restored Sunwell.

From wowwiki: It became clear that the high elves had become addicted to the Sunwell’s arcane energies. Being constantly suffused in magic had fundamentally changed their race. Now that the source of their magic was gone, they were suffering acute pangs of withdrawal.

It was arcane magic. Not exactly corruption but they were feeding on it. I had to refresh my memory on some of this.

If they’ll just be the blood elf models with blue eyes, I’ll be against them.

HOWEVER, if they’ll be anything like the models shown in OP, then I’ll want them so bad! They look amazing!!

Human rig is (imo) a very nice rig and makes sense for high elves lore-wise given their cultural exchange with humans.

Oh, by the Light, I think I’m pro-high elf now…

I need those models as playable.

They were feeding off the Sunwell, however, after its destruction they learned to draw mana from living things. Supposedly they also drew mana from mana crystsals and other such things. The Fel Crystals that turned their eye green (and you can still see today around Silvermoon) leaked fel radiation that turned their eyes to that color, though, these crystals were used to power their buildings not as a source of feeding their addiction to magic.

Supposedly the High Elves (The ones that do not see themselves as Blood Elves) also had to find new sources of mana to draw from, or go without and deal with the pangs of withdrawal.

Now that the Sunwell has been restored and is also now Holy and Arcane, no High Elf (Blood or otherwise) should have such issues and their eyes should either turn gold or blue… or possibly any number of other colors. Since the color is based off the ambient magic and one would expect that the magic you directly use would affect your eye color as well.

A cultural exchange does not mean they look like humans. Remember many of the current blood elves were Dalaran (the human and high elf city) residents. Heck the last prince of the blood elves was a Dalaran high elf.

If I recall correctly there is reasoning to be given that they having been away from their society, took a more moderate magic approach Farstrider life in hinterlands etc.

Those models still look quel’dorei, they’re just standing like humans and the men aren’t fembois. :woman_shrugging:t2:

FYI the current blood elf leader was the former leader of the Farstriders (as were many other blood elves). The blood elves actually have a far more martial group in the blood knights then the High Elves do.

Edit: also all those High Elves in the magical city of Dalaran definitely were not less magically inclined.

Can I add to this my thoughts. I been thinking a lot on this comment. And the more I think on it the more I’m reminded BEs see themselves as the continuation of the HE legacy, and the HEs simply retain their legacy.

But I do not see BEs bring up what happened to their HE kin at Theramore as if alluding to the fact they don’t care perhaps further solidifying the divide.

We hear BEs talk of the purge of Dalaran all the time, and while I do agree BEs are HEs but not all HEs are BEs… where is the outrage over HE deaths from Theramore? Was there any?

Anyone who need pretty to play Horde, is not real Horde.

A model change to differentiate them wouldn’t be immensely odd. Blizzard says the models in game are not representative of every individual member of that race.

Gallywix is a good example, hes a goblin, but doesn’t look at all like the player characters.

Its possibly just for differentiating them, like with Void Elves being blue, that Blizz might add High Elves with a slightly tweaked model, such as the human one.

It would not say that High Elves are more beefy, nor would it say that Blood Elves couldn’t be. It would just be for gameplay reasons.

I have not seen them express sorrow for that, nor do they understand that a sunreaver helped bomb theramore, and then another sunreaver helped with the theft of the bell that prompted the purge. The leader of the sunreavers also knew and chose not to tell Jaina.

I would think they would express sorrow if they still considered Alliance HEs part of their society. But the fact that neither the Alliance HEs feel apart of BE society nor do the BEs express sorrow or express that their HE kin are still part of their society I think supports the culture / distinct groups imo.
