And I want to play a blood elf druid. However, Iām not going to be obtuse and claim that would be good for game-design or the lore. It is bad for both the lore and the game. Sadly you have to have a bit of an imagination with roleplaying from time to time. Have a bit of imagination.
Which it seems some of them have been doing for a while now. Not the best house guests.
Itās worth it to me to point out that those high elves who left due to mana tapping animals or fel powered enchantments, Void Elves are a much stronger cup of tea.
Literally the first random comment I see when I click somewhere along the thread history. This is some funtimes.
The faction system itself is anathema to imagination.
As Iām seriously just stuck being Human because I donāt particularly like the other race options given to me, and Humans appear to be getting not as good of customization options as Blood Elves are from what has been revealed so far. Why canāt Humans have Holy Light and Arcane themes or more representation of the 7 kingdoms in their customization choices?
Just as well, everyone calls Humans boring but Blood Elves can easily look similar to them and bypass that because theyāre more magical fantasy than Humans are.
Blizzard will just end up burning another major city For some reason they want us all in Stormwind and Org which honestly sucks. At least the Horde has Silvermoon as an alternative which is actually pretty good. Nobody likes the Exodar or Ironforge for RP it seems sadly. Though I wouldnāt put it past Blizzard to burn these cities down as well for that sweet sweet shock value.
Eh I actually quite like the thematic disparity between the Blood elves and the other Horde races. Itās a different take than the standard humancentric alliance elves usually have with humans in most fantasy setups.
Although personally I couldnāt play a Blood elf Paladin once I realized they were draining a Naaru, I literally stopped leveling her and switched to priest, as Blood elven priests were said to maintain the same philosophies and ethics they did as High elves. Only when I saw their redemption under Velen, and how lady liadrin embraced that redemption could I bring myself to play one.
And while I agree, in the end I hope blizzard lets any race choose any faction, and therefore players can choose ANY fantasy they wish, I am happy that they are allowing us more options for our characters.
I would love to see the Exodar built out into a city like the oneās we saw in WoD.
Oh I have faith they will build itā¦for a scenario to have it blow up. Then they will repeat the same with SM. I would love to see Silvermoon city returned to itās former glory.
It would render factions pointless but on the other hand it would be too much work to undo the system, so I guess it would be the only possible scenario.
Then again they could legit try Alliance High Elves as a stepping stone to that.
Yeah, the idea of High elves who refused to mana tap, or interact with fel magic due to their ethics suddenly being okay with the use of void magic never sat well with me to be honest. That and void elves do not seem to have any regard for nature if what we saw them doing to the wild life in Zuldazar is any example.
No, thatās a different conversation. If they do they need to just do it. With the current design philosophy player options need to remain distinct.
Eh I donāt think it would render the factions pointless, it would just shift more into a āred vs blueā with each faction representing a different way of life that clashes with the other. And each faction would offer itās own theme, and gear to the players when choose which side they prefer.
Void Elves represent a two sided opportunity for consolidating high elves. Those high elves who left Silvermoon over mana tapping have a bigger reason to be offended with the Alliance, and those Alliance high elves who just really hate orcs have a way to end their dependency on the Sunwell and the Horde.
I donāt see this happening for one reason. Didnāt Blizzard come out and say that they had some serious coding issues with Pandaren due to them being neutral which is why they regret making them neutral? If my previous statement is true I sadly highly doubt they would do something like that.
Maybe theyāll at least add an elven district to Orgrimar.
But they are always far less limited in RP options and choices on what they can do compared to the Blood Elves, they will never compare to Blood Elves in terms of diversity and RP.
You can be an edgy dark magic-wielding Blood Elf or more of a hopeful Light-wielding idealistic hero Blood Elf, you canāt really do that as a Void Elf, they are strictly edgy dark magic users by principle alone.
Iām not aware of that, though they did comment that they didnāt like how they blurred faction lines but wanted them to be available to everyone (targeted toward China).
I donāt think it was any coding error, I think the popularity for Pandaren is just significantly low, even in comparison to some of the least chosen races, which I think is different than simply releasing the faction-lock on already existing races, especially popular ones.
An actual compromise would have been to open the paladin option for one of the Alliance elf races. As it is, youāre blocking the standard heroic faction from playing a standard heroic fantasy trope; and that does not work well.
You can be a hunter or a warrior. Blaze that trail.
