High Elf Love Thread! đŸ„°

This is mass delusion. We got High Elves in the form of Void Elves.

Shows over, we’re done here.

Probably nothing for the next 3-4 years because Void Elves entire thing is just to be Blood Elves but inferior both from a lore and design standpoint.

You’re cooler than Belves.

Oh man can’t wait for the expression in the face of the High Elves at the Silver Covenant when they get the memo they are now part of the Horde.

Shows Yellian out

I mean. Blood Elves are getting the ‘high elf’ “”“defining feature”"". You lost, fair and square and you’re never getting them.

Well judging by you playing a Demon Hunter I can see why you’d think that, but personally I just have to disagree and I just don’t see it as positively because I’m not as heavily a fan of edgy stuff, also here’s a number of problems the race simply has:

We’re infused with Void which is always going to be the villain juice in every storyline whereas Blood Elves are the righteous Holy Light elves which will always be the objectively heroic force in the narrative.

We have far less customization and our customization looks even worse than Blood Elves as of these expansion details.

We live in a floating rock and they get to live in a beautiful golden city.

They have way more characters with strong history, lore, and ties to the world that have existed for far longer whereas we only get Alleria, who is good, but then we also get Umbric who is a nobody.

We have less popular class options than Blood Elves.

Hell, even Nightborne get better lore than we do. People wonder why the High Elf complaint exists in such vocal fashion and it comes back to how poorly treated and implemented Void Elves have been since their inception.

Their defining feature is their loyalty towards the Alliance, and their resistance against mana addiction without sucking mana out of living beings.

They can always have a different model like devs did with Kul Tirans. Physical appearance is irrelevant.

The light is just as evil as the void.

You share their characters, history and lore.

The Nightborne are french, I pity them and their silly, taunting accents.

A handful of high elves that didn’t change their name is the least viable reasoning to take a race from the horde and give it to the alliance, sorry. Developers themselves even expressed that.

It’d be like saying draenei joined the alliance
but not ALL dranei joined and some kept the name eradar and there’s eradar horde NPCs therfore they should be horde

It’s silly, pointless, and would be a slap in the face to the horde.

They’re the same race. You can quit attempting to deny fate. Nail’s in the coffin forever now.

Kul Tirans and Humans are the same race as well.

Oh and Undead too.

No not really. They’re separated by mortality and hundreds of years of differentiation compared to some elves having a spat over what amounts to hunting.

The ‘lore’ is just a means so you can get your ‘pretty’ elves on the ‘good’ guy faction.

Numbers doesn’t matter sis. If Void Elves, Darkspears, Bilgewater are all a thing, then the group of High Elves that you mention can.

Now
on the other side, if the reason is because they don’t want to give a copy-paste race with different eyes, then yeah that’s a valid reason and I can get behind. But leaning on lore because they are just a “handful” of people
 nah.

I (personally) would rather have other races becoming AR in either Alliance or Horde because I think the game already have too many playable flavors of elves.

Prior to BFA, there were 0 differences between Kul Tiras and the rest of Human nations, for example: take a look at Theramore NPCs, who came from Kul Tiras.

Kul Tirans’ “culture” was exaggerated in order to introduce them as an AR. This was stated by devs themselves in an interview available on YouTube.

Blizzard tells you as such but they don’t show it well at all, look at this recent patch where a possible future shows the Void Elves all going insane and succumbing to the Old Gods, ultimately betraying the entire world in the end and how this expansion has been capped off with the Void being the big bad once again.

Blizzard does nothing to connect Void Elves to the history of the rest of the Blood Elf people, they are entirely something else and part of that issue stems from them giving Void Elves a no-name character as their face. We do get Alleria, but it feels hard to connect her with Void Elves much as her characterization is wildly different from the race as a whole, and she resembles more a High Elf that uses the Void rather than a true purple Void-infused elf.

And if Kael’thas shows up in Shadowlands and is far more connected with the Blood Elves in the narrative with the Void Elves having nothing to show for it? I won’t be the least bit surprised because it really does seem as if Blizzard only made Void Elves playable just to silence the High Elf request and nothing more interesting than that.

Good. They did a good job.

‘High elf’ lore has already been done, dealt and delivered long ago. You’re not getting them. And you never will.

You’re not a dev, so your opinion is just that - an opinion.

I’ll keep asking for what I’d like to see implemented in this videogame, just like they asked us to do.

Are we done here?

Fixed that for you, show me any reason to be hyped about Shadowlands from a perspective as a Void Elf player who is already dealt limited lore compared to the other allied races.

The developers saying they are already playable in the game on the horde side does, though.

And like you said, taking a race from one faction and giving it to the other with just an eye color change in my opinion would be a slap in the face to the horde.
