I disagree with changing the names of the Void Elf racials. I know there are many High Elf fans out there, but we are at a point where we must be grateful with what we have and things like racials are way too minimal to complain about.
I made a Void Elf to be a Void Elf, not a High Elf. They can add all the HE customization they want, but do not destroy my Void Elf with generic racial names. Unless this comes in the form of a glyph, we must be adult enough to use our imagination and play as a HE, because technically, all Thalassian Elves are.
We must understand that High Elves comes at the expense of a core Horde race AND these changes would ocme at the expense of the Void Elves too, that I am sure has its fanbase as well just to please a group of highly vocal people.
That said, if they will add yet another Dwarf, I’d add another Elf, these are playable at least (nothing against Earthen). But anyway:
Customization or new race? Sure.
Changes to the core of the Void Elf class like their racial? NO.
That’s got to be clarified as well, but it doesn’t change the fact it might be a few dozen or so and them being halflings, not a new faction either.
They might even be evil or dead by this point.
Source proving that the information became non-canon?
Best way you can prove me is go to warcraft wiki and modify both Blood Elf and High Elf pages, remove those information and put on talk that they are non canon.

I don’t think anyone is asking to completely change the racial names and whatever else to more high elf ones, just asking to give us a toggle to make them more like it so it’s like a two in one thing rather than an erasure/replacement

I’m running the venthyr campaign in hopes of seeing him and getting the dark grey skin and red eyes lol. I feel so lost.
He got all of it. Death is a small price to pay for great hair

This thread does not endorse changing the races name or racials.
It does endorse the option to do so on a character by character basis via either the barbershop or a npc.
How at an expense?

Plus more options are always better. I hope void elves get all the high elf options (including a race name tag) as well as more void options so that people can play what they want. I hope the same for other races too, of course, but I’m only mentioning high/void elves since they’re relevant to the thread

Customization is a net positive and always resonates with some part of the community. Our unwavering commitment to such potential options for non-voidy Alliance Quel’dorei for over a decade+ is demonstrative that many of the ideas here should be reviewed by Blizzard.

Fun fact. When you put on a Racial Disguise the it changes the name so the Tech is already their for Racial Name changes.
They even have one for broken and they aren’t a playable race.
Which would be amazing NOT just for High Elves but the other Customization Races like Eredar, Wildhammer, Sandfury, Darkfallen, Ect.
And with Draenei/Eredar there is already a Racial display change.

Oh that’s a neat idea.
While people could already do it with TRP those without it could use a void elf or blood elf exclusive toy that changes their race to display as “high elf”. lasts 12 (in game) hours, persists through death, 5 minute cooldown.

Yes, Gift of the Naaru becomes Fel with the Eredar skin.
Doesn’t need to be a toy, just a little Checkbox in the Barber Shop/Customization Screen.

Interesting, maybe make the void elf racials more arcane for those with fleshy skin.
Bruh, so it shouldn’t even be that hard then. It’ll be easier than making a whole allied race, for sure.
We can only hope. Normally I’d feel optimistic considering the whole plot of midnight but I have no trust or faith in blizzard. If it happens I’ll be ecstatic but if it doesn’t i won’t be surprised

Honestly trp should just be absorbed.
Much as I love it for Draenei, Void elves have already been canonized for all our existing tones and options.
For high elves (and honestly most races) I’d want this to be a barber option instead of tied to customization.

I have a sneaky suspecious the way race and racials works are gonna get a rework in midnight
We might see most allied races and core races merged with racial “lineage” options. Maybe an ability to change racials but with a cooldown (like zanda trolls)
So instead of getting high elves as a seperate race there will be a “neutral” elf meta race that has sub races.

I read a little bit of the thread. I’m so, SO happy you mentioned the hair thing. Out of the 2 (3 if possible) things that i want in this game, the hairstyle is definitely number 1. I’ve said it before that even if we only get the foxtail and falcon hairstyles, I’ll be happy
As cool as that sounds, I had a lingering feeling back in legion that we’d get high elves the following expansion. Then we didn’t.
So yeah, I have no faith or hope. If it happens I’ll pre order midnight that second lol. If not then I won’t be surprised since i expect blizzard to disappoint me
