I played Venthyr on my main for the entire expansion, and I really enjoyed the covenant campaign. Kael’thas has some really good extra gossip text for Thalassians (maybe a few voiced dialogue changes? I can’t remember), and his character arc gave some much-needed closure. Technically he shows up in the raid first before he appears in the campaign (and this is why Story Mode for whole raids would be nice), but I believe his first appearance in the campaign explains his presence if the player hasn’t encountered him already. I would love for the darker veins he has around his eyes and along his arms to be made available as death knight/Dark Ranger customizations. The existing death knight dead-looking skin tones aren’t that detailed along the arms/hands and don’t have visible veins on the face.
This idea is part of what has made me come around on the idea of officially-recognized-as-such playable High Elves. I am not in favor of adding a yet another whole separate race to the character creation screen for something that would be almost identical to not one but two existing playable races (and before anyone starts, I’m not a huge fan of Dwarves, Dark Iron, and Earthen all being separate races either) because I find it to be an incredibly inelegant solution that would add visual clutter to the character creation menu. However, adding the ability to choose between different racial names for display purposes could solve the mismatch between player character race and RP background for so many different customization options that currently exist, while also giving the option to easily expand playable groups in the future without adding a completely new AR to the mix. It would have so many good applications beyond what adding a High Elf AR could accomplish. I have no interest thus far in playing a High Elf in the sense of what this thread asks for, but I would love it if my Dark Ranger could be acknowledged as such, and being able to pick what racial name displays for a character would address both issues.
