While I’ve not checked TRP (And mostly kept to non-RP servers in my own anecdotal testing data gathering) when I stand in the portal room and rank players by Non-void customizations and Void customizations, I tend to get a fairly even split that somewhat favors High Elves.
Very interesting to see the data for a TRP pull on an RP server specifically.
Anyone who is under the impression that adding high elf customizations was not a popular move is sorely mistaken, just as anyone who thinks that means void elves were a failure is also sorely mistaken. lol (Not saying thats your stance. Just always amused by those sorts.)
It’s usually a Worgen/Night Elf/Game of Thrones Nightwatch zone.
The most interesting part I found was a Half Elf Void Elf, something which is quite new. The guild the player is in is apparently a Half Elf guild as well.
I’ll try to make a few pictures the next time I’m on an server event. But this is basically AD-EU: Noble Houses with Humans and Elves, two to three prominent Alliance-guilds (Pandaren, Dwarves) and the PCU controlling most of the Horde-RP server-wide, which is kinda sad because there are not this many walk ups in Orgrimmar besides a few in the Valley of Honor.
One bonus picture, because this just happened and I found it literally hilarious. A prison escape scene across the whole city.
Took me a while to settle on exactly whats what with my character, and its not exactly completely lore friendly… but the lore on void elves is vague so whatever haha
But my void elf learned the way of the monk in order to better control their thoughts and emotions.
So my characters skin tone changes between white and purple depending on how well hes keeping on top of containing the inner void.
I love void elves because of the parallels with mental health, and as we all know my mental health isnt the greatest.
So in practice, i change my characters appearance based on how im dealing with “the void”.
Good day, white skin. Bad day, purple skin.
I love having both options one character.
Its great having a character that can reflect and express myself.
Hopefully it wont be too long until void elves get more options for both sides of the coin
They still have one of these threads up at all time, hm? Well, what I know I want for my BEs is face paint. Could use to have makeup separate from face type like humans. And proper long hair like NEs and male BEs and nightborne. Mostly those.
Yeah there’s one for helf, velf, and belf. Other races also have them as well. Hoping Blizz listens to the feedback in these requests. I want ranger tattoos for my velves and helves as well!
Then again all races should have tattoos, scars, and makeup imo.
The very first elves we got in Warcraft were archer and their ranger upgrade and those rangers had face paint. Back in WC2. In any case I feel high elf, blood elf and void elf model discussions are kind of the same topic, I don’t feel like they need to be separate. But yeah these threads have been going on for over 10 years so.
I mean I agree. Thalassians should have been treated as Pandaren, Dracthyr, and Earthen Dwarves. You’re Belf for Horde, Helf for Alliance. San’layn/Darkfallen for Horde and even the Fel-corrupted Belves while Alliance got Velves if they wanted Velves to be Alliance only. The difference is really only political and just as the Panderan and Dracthyr have different racial reps for each faction, Thalassian could have, and should have, worked like that imo.
In any case as a Thalassian elf enjoyer (As you can see, Spring here is your average, traditional blue eyed blonde thalassian, which I imagine is the most common and average type of Thalassian other than the green eyed equivalent) I wanted to come and list the main things I hope for. Other than maybe body types but that’s not likely to happen soon.
I’m trying to not get my hopes up but it would be great to get the Helf racial tag. This character, as you can tell, has fully embraced the void, but I have plenty of helf characters ready to race change should we be able to be helves in names.
Body type is something I really wish all races would get. BG3 does a good job of it imo, and if Blizz does something similar to what they did with the Dracthyr, many would enjoy it.
I also just wish we’d get a full-on customization patch instead of a few hair and skin colors being drip-fed to us. I mean being drip-fed is better than nothing, but still. Compared to Dracthyr, every other race is lacking.
I feel like if you have one of the pink/brown skins they should see you as helf (or maybe mistake you for belf, which helves would probably find offensive but it’d be kind of funny for us) and same as undead skin they should call you undead in quest text.
And I dunno if BG3 does a good job, with fems most of the time I want to be somewhere in between the two available body types.
I’d love flavor text like that. I have a few helves who’d be SUPER offended, and some that would be like, whatever just tell me what I need to do. I do wish my Dark Ranger would be acknowledged as one, and same with my Manari.
If they add racial tag display options, I hope Half-Elf is one of them (assuming they don’t become an actual allied race). My personal RP for this character is a Half-Elf Mage that joined the Ren’dorei when they set up shop in Stormwind.
I have a half void elf half orc as it happens. Lol

Yes! This is one of the things I really appreciate about them.
Fenelon and Raenei, two of my void elves started with natural skin tones and as their stories evolved I changed them over to full void. I love those stories and those options being there!

Yup. Silvermoon city RP is dead. Everyone RPs high elves on alliance now lmao which is kinda funny but I think I saw on Twitter that there was a few RPers in Silvermoon this week which is fun!
Maybe Midnight can help remedy that with Quel’thalas being updated, and if the city is neutral like Bel’Ameth I can see RP exploding back to life there
This only shows that Blood Elves were never really accepted by the players on Horde. They went only there because of a game model, not because they liked the faction concept.
